Review: was suppose to put in a 4 foot by 120 foot retaining wall with French drain, waterfall, fire pit and patio.the wall ended up averaging 3 feet, the water fall does not look like the pictures he showed me and we agreed upon and the did not put a French drain so we had water issues that cracked the wall and patioDesired Settlement: I would like a refund so I can go hire a contractor to come in and do the project correctly

Review: In the Fall of 2011 we contracted with [redacted]/Stonemakers for the retaining wall w/steps in our backyard. Due to the weather that Fall the project was not completed. In the Spring of 2012 after many phone calls & test messages they returned and built the steps. The wall & steps still needed to be stained/painted and sealed. Again after many phone calls & text messages they returned several times to paint the wall and steps. The wall was sealed and the steps were never sealed and we were not informed that they had not been sealed. In the Spring of 2013, the steps paint has worn off and the cement has cracked, chipped, and deteroiated away. The contractor was contacted numerous times throughout the late Spring and early Summer of 2013 to fix this problem with no response. Again the contractor was contacted on 8/26/13 at which time [redacted] stated he would have a crew out that week to do the repair work. Pictures of the problem/damage were e-mailed to [redacted]. No crew showed up, again on 9/3/13 [redacted] was contacted and we were told he would have a crew out that week to repair the damage. As of today 9/7/13 no one has showed up to do the repair work. [redacted] was contacted this morning and he began to give another song and dance about when they would "be here" to do the work. When I became aggravated with him about the lack of customer service/repair work being done he hung up on me.Desired Settlement: I want the wall and steps repainted and properly sealed against the elements. I want to be informed of the product used and how and when application of the sealant will need to be done again. I want this matter addressed promptly by [redacted] and without attitude.

Re: Complaint ID [redacted]

Dear Ms. [redacted],

In reference to the complaint from [redacted], ID [redacted], please be advised that the work will be complete no later than October 1, 2013. I will recolor and reseal the steps using Behr Semi-transparent concrete stains (Loden, Warm Shofe, and Desert Flagstone) The sealer will be applied to the steps and wall afterwards.

Review: Upon construction of a concrete waterfall and patio in August of 2014 against our house I asked some questions about the need for expansion joints and was told there was no need for any as the "concrete isn't going anywhere and will not crack". Less than one year later four cracks have developed. One is significant and splits the patio in half. I am very concerned that these cracks will continue to grow and water will eventually find it's way around our foundation.

I contacted StoneMakers four times in the fall to determine how best to repair these cracks before the cold weather sets in. At no time was the phone call returned. The receptionist said all she can do is pass the message on and she was sorry no one returned my call.Desired Settlement: I would appreciate someone from StoneMakers coming out to look at the cracks and determining if an error was made when the concrete was poured and repairing the cracks.

RE: Case ID [redacted]Dear Ms. Edwards,In response to the complaint from [redacted] my father, owner of StoneMakers of Western PA, resides in Florida in the winter months and is due to return to Pittsburgh in March. I will contact Mrs. [redacted] to schedule an appointment to inspect the patio and repair any cracks. Unfortunately, concrete does crack and we have a "crack chaser grinder" to resolve this issue.Sincerely,Anthony CherupStoneMakers of Western PA

Review: Stone makers installed a second patio at my home after the first one was installed improperly without gravel or adequate foundation. The second patio was installed last year and still needs stained, sealed, and waterproofed against the house as promised. There is splatter all over my siding that needs removed and cleaned. After multiple phone calls and emails there is still no resolution. At one point, an appointment was made to have the work finished, but nobody showed up and I can't get anyone to call me back. This was over a month ago.Desired Settlement: I want the job completed ASAP. If they cannot do this, they can pay to have the job completed by somebody else.

Re: [redacted] Complaint - ID#[redacted]Dear Ms. E[redacted],Unfortunately, I admit that this issue slipped through the cracks. I was not aware that the patio that I replaced was never colored and sealed. I had assigned the job to an employee who is no longer with the company.I will contact Mrs. [redacted] and have the work completed within two weeks.Sincerely,[redacted]StonMakers of Western PA

Review: Hired company for large water feature construction and decorative hardscaping. Company missed repeated appointments, missed extensive days on site, and had staffing issues that resulted in a different group of 'green' employees each day. Most admitted they had no prior concrete experience. Completely failed at project and then abandoned the project. Extensive personal property damage. Demonstrated zero knowledge of concrete installation, for example, burying steel rebar in mud and pouring concrete on top -- meaning no rebar inside the concrete. Promised a monolithic concrete pour, but instead made several 5-7yd pours with cold seams before abandoning the site. Pipes were installed without the use of a level, and many have no constant fall/slope to pump room. Pipes were not pressure tested, and now it has been found that many buried pipes are not even glued. No protection on house or brand new cedar deck. House, windows, deck, etc smeared with concrete. Not just splatter, but actually smeared onto surfaces with trowels, workers hands, etc. Workers could not keep up with even 6 yard deliveries and had concrete set up on them 'in the hole'. Thousands of dollars wasted on materials that had to be dug out at owner's expense. Rebar wasted. Concrete cracked extensively in hours following pour, and substantially more in recent weeks. Note that 1/3 of the project is poured, and the rest is mud and rebar with a giant hole in front of the yard which has been abandoned all winter. Rebar is sticking up with ZERO protective caps; a clear safety and OSHA violation. All concrete must be demolished and hauled away. All rebar is wasted. All plumbing is wasted. Workers walked through freshly poured pond bottom, leaving massive boot prints that are deep enough to contact rebar under the concrete. Concrete in some areas is less than one inch thick and has cracked open to the mud under it. Company has admitted fault by demanding an untimely progress payment and then abandoning the site.Desired Settlement: Full refund of all monies paid. Full refund for all materials purchased by homeowner. Compensation for physical damage to the home and property.
