We acknowledge that at certain times during especially cold weather, a small gap may sometimes appear between the back edge of a stone (granite) countertop and the wall. The granite itself is not shrinking and expanding. This situation is the cause of the complaint. Since 2011, we
have been in regular contact with *** homes, the builder who constructed the *** residence. They are in complete agreement with our assessment of this matter and have assured me they will convey this information to Mrs***

I am rejecting this response because: If indeed granite moves because of the wall being an exterior wall, they should disclose that to purchasers *** did send someone out and we got the same story we get every year There is nothing that can be done because the granite is on an exterior wall so it moves with the temperature changes Had this been told to us BEFORE we spent a lot of money on all this granite, we would have chosen a different counter top Businesses should be required to disclose this movement to the purchasers THere is nothing anyone can doWe just have to deal with it to months every winter

We have investigated the two issues raised by Mr*** and determined:
The 4" x 12" steel brackets we provided to support the island overhang are our standard size, and conform to industry practiceThough we did not understand Mr
***'s reason, we did cut them down to 3" x 10" as requestedWe believe although they are smaller, they will still be adequate to support the overhanging stone island
In some STL metro areas, our installers are permitted to perform sink/disposal re-connectionsIn this case, we intended to do so, but encountered an unexpected situation with the disposal and deemed it appropriate to have a plumber perform that functionRegrettably he was an hour late resulting from the unanticipated scope of work on his previous job
We believe we provided Mr*** with a very high quality countertop (fit, finish, installation) at a very reasonable priceWe do not feel having to undersize the steel supports or electing to retain a plumber constituted negligence on our partNonetheless, we are sorry Mr*** is unable to refer StoneTrends
