[redacted] Auto Salvage sold Karisa [redacted] an engine for her 2007 Acadia on 9/23/16. At the time of the sale Karisa was told that the engine she was purchasing comes with our standard 90 day part only warranty and that we also have extended part and labor warranties available which she declined....

Karisa had her mechanic install the engine for her. She called me up a little while after the engine was installed and said that the engine was in and running but there was a check engine lite on in the dash. I asked her what code the car was giving them, she could not tell me so I asked her to call her mechanic and get it for me. Karisa called her mechanic and he told her it was a timing issue, she was a little confused as to what he was trying to say so I asked her if it would be alright if I called him because it could be a couple different issues. After talking to her mechanic for a while we came to the conclusion that the car was telling us that the timing chain in the engine was becoming loose, even though the car was running fine, these engines are known for this issue. So I asked her mechanic to give me an estimate on fixing the car since he had installed the engine. He told me the timing kit from GM would be $900.00 and his labor would be $1000.00. We only sold this engine to Karisa for $2000.00. I asked Karisa if she felt comfortable having her mechanic do this and she said she did so on 10/27/16 I agreed to refund her the $1800.00. Three days after her mechanic did the repair she is driving down the highway and she said the engine locked up. Karisa called me and wanted to know what I was going to do about it, I asked her if she had called her mechanic first since he just got done repairing the timing chain and she said no. I told her to have him look at it first and let me know what they find out. Supposedly he looked at the car and said that the pistons in the engine have locked up. Remember Karisa has been driving the car for 5 weeks now three days after her mechanic gets done working on the car the engine completely stops running. I told her even though I have not seen the car I would bet it quit running because of something to do with the timing chain install. Since we want her to be happy this is what I agreed to do for her. I would take the car to an approved certified profession repair facility in our area. I would have them take the engine apart and inspect it all the while taking pictures to document everything showing the damage as to why the engine quit running. IF, the engine failed due to being faulty I would take the faulty engine out, put in another used engine with less that 80k miles on it which we had on the shelf ready to go at now expense to her at all. But if when taking the engine out and I can prove to her (with pictures) from our certified mechanics that the engine failed due to a faulty timing chain repair she (Karisa) would be responsible for the price of the new engine and the labor to install it. Karisa says that all the scenarios I offer where to benefit me!! I think that [redacted] Auto Salvage is the one that just lost $2000.00 to a bad engine install.Bob [redacted]

This issue arose due to the recent California tax hike on tobacco products, the customer noticed an older inventory packet of cigars with the price of .99 cents on it, so she insisted to pay the same price for another packet of different flavor made by the same company which was a newer packing...

without the .99 cents.....all of our items are programmed in our point of sale system, which are rung up by scanning the bar code.... so the price is not decided by the cashier at the time of purchase.....thank you
