Mike Kennell Mkennell@storage post.com

Mr. Kennell;
First, I would like to thank you for assisting me in moving from my unit. I admit that I signed the payment schedule because Jan Correll threatened to lock me out if I didn’t. I had to protect myself and everything I owned and would have been on the street penniless if I paid the required amount.

In the past six months I have sold five of my best woodworking machines at reduced prices to pay off my bill. I could have skipped out a year ago and not lost my best machines, but I wanted to pay down my bill, so I stayed, hoping to pay it off from work income, but [censor] happened.

A few months ago, as I was applying for senior benefits, I asked Jan to write me a letter so that I might qualify for senior cash benefits, so I could pay down my back rent.

Jan accused me of trying to scam the system and threatened to lock me out that day.

As I am 70 years old and qualify (legally) for senior benefits (since I was 62), this was an insult and is part of the reason I did what I did while moving out.

Since I moved out I have learned that Jan rented the unit (1416) to a guy (Fat Mike) that has been living in a single bay across from me for a few years. I TOLD Jan last week that he would be living in the unit and she told me he wouldn’t. She KNOWS he is going to live there. She knows he has been living in his single unit. There are five (5) people living in units right now and have been up to eight in the past couple of years since I have been there. The finally got the old crack whore out of the unit in front. This has put a drain in the electrical and caused my power to constantly blow while using my smaller hand power tools. I used my larger tools on my east side power that is on my meter.

Jan called me on about Jan. 4, and asked what about the stuff that was left in the unit and I tried to tell her it was mostly lumber and benches that I was giving to other residents for work in their units that I didn’t need and trash that I was going to put in the trash piles across the street for community pick up, but she just interrupted me and yelled at me. She wanted me out by Dec. 31. So, I left the last bit of stuff.

The next day she called me again and I finally got in a word and told her that I would go and clean the kitchen more and disperse the lumber and the rest of the stuff.
The next day I went and cleaned the kitchen. The next day I went back to do more cleaning and the door was locked and Fat Mike told me cleaned the unit from top to bottom and nothing was left.

Then Jan told me that she had to get a trash company to haul it all away which also was a lie because since then I have seen some of the old teakwood parts and other stuff on the community trash pile across the street.

Jan KNOWINGLY rents to homeless people to keep the property fully occupied and earn her bonuses. Either you approve of this, or she is scamming the company to make her bonuses from full occupancy.

She has ignored these people living there while constantly harassing me about working and staying in the unit when I was not on sea duty or on location doing yacht remodeling (called “refit”).
Don’t let her tell you she didn’t know they were all living in their units because she SAW them with walls put up and air conditioners visibly installed.

As I told you on the phone, my sister was murdered by her husband in a murder suicide on July 17. Before that I was run down by a driver while riding my motor scooter and left me on the ground with my left side bloody and shredded from ankle to eyebrow (six stiches). The woman driver left the scene after seeing me on the ground. The medics took me to Holy Cross hospital for treatment.

The next day I was up working on a mold for a fiberglass seat for a boat and Jan came by and saw me all bandaged and bloody (she almost passed out) but working so I could pay my rent.

Just before that I hurt my right-side ribs while playing soft ball at the park.

The customer service in this facility has been nonexistent.

The day after my sister was murdered, someone stole my keys to my unit and my motor scooter off the nail inside my shop door and when I called Jan to get the maintenance guy to come with new door locks, she told me the was no more maintenance man and later that day brought an old broken dead bolt. I had to walk and take the bus to buy door knobs and dead bolts and install them myself while in the depths of sadness over my sister’s death while preparing to go to Los Angeles.

I called the sheriff and they came and I filed a report and I gave Jan the case number, but when I asked about filing an insurance claim she said I needed the complete report.

On July 30, while at my sister’s memorial in Los Angeles, I received a call from Jan threatening to lock me out if I didn’t make an $8 (eight dollars) payment so she could “populate” my account. She told me to go out and get a debit card to make the payment.
This is insane because I always made my monthly payment from my social security deposit and any other payment with the debit card I have had for over ten years.
For over 2 years I asked them to repair my bathroom window that had been shot with either a gun or a BB gun and was never even looked at.

Also for over 3 years I asked them to repair the roof tiled soffet over my back door because when It rained it poured right down over my door and leaked into my unit.

When the repair guys came to repair the overhang, I mentioned to the repair supervisor that they had to change the rain gutter, so it would solve the rain problem. The supervisor told it was not included in the bid, so it looks good, but the rain problem was never fixed and still leaks inside the building.
It took months of reminding Jan that a quad electrical box just inside the unit was sparking when rain leaked on it, being a critical fire hazard before it was fixed. Good job by the maintenance man and he also converted a quad 220-volt box into a double 110-volt box, so I could use it for work.

I complained about rats for three years and nothing was done. Jan told me she instructed the terminator guys to fix it, but they said it was never mentioned. The rats chewed through many of my storage boxes containing valuable books as well as many books in my office library and plastic containers containing stored food. I have taken many pictures of rat [censor] all over the place as well as dead rats found when I started packing to move.

I complained about termites and wood eating ants along the baseboards as well as mold and mildew and nothing was ever done. The terminators say they were only responsible for outside the building.

The rear garage door has not worked properly, and I stopped informing them because nothing is ever done to fix problems.

She has no clue what customer service is, and I even gave her a book called “The One Minute Manager” by Blanchard & Johnson from my collection of management books in my library because she is a terrible manager.

I have never had comfortable usage of my unit because of the harassment and very poor customer service by Jan Correll.

I am very angry, and I may report to the local code departments soon.

Sirs, I really hate to complain about anything, but I was being unjustly singled out, discriminated against, and picked on and I am really pissed.

I will put very bad reviews on your web site often unless something is done to satisfy my concerns.

Thank you very much.

This below was written about 18 months ago but not submitted because I didn’t want to get anyone in trouble THEN.

Dear sirs;

I am not one that like to complain, but I am being unjustly harassed by Jan Corell and Joe at the office 750 E Sample Road in Pompano Beach.

I am being told now that I must cease any type of work in my unit because it is a “storage only” unit.
Besides that, there are units that have been used as work bays for years that have not been issued orders to stop working out of them.

Sirs, I rented this unit to work in until I found a bigger unit outside this facility and have been doing so for 2 YEARS with the full knowledge of management.
I thought I would only be here for a year, but illness and other circumstances have delayed my departure.

I am now in the process of looking for a new unit
.
Jan found me this unit about two years ago when I was renting a small WORK BAY at the facility at 905 NE 9th St. In Oakland Park. While acting as temporary manager at that facility, I told her that I was looking for a larger work unit.

After a while she told me that my present unit at 91 NE 9th St, Pompano Beach (a 750-square foot unit with a bathroom, shower, kitchen with 220 for stove, with hookups for refrigerator as well as a laundry room with water and 220 electric for wash machines) was available and I moved in with her full knowledge that I was building custom guitars and other wood and boat craft work and staying there whenever I was not on active sea duty.
After a while they made me switch the electricity on the east side into my name.

For a while I had been planning to rent the small unit next to my south facing door to increase my WORK area to about a thousand square feet until I find a larger unit (about 1500 sq. ft.) near the yacht marinas and boat yards somewhere down near Ft. Lauderdale or Dania Beach.
Not only that, but their supervisor (the Colonel} had been in my unit and seen my custom guitars and other projects.
Now I am being told that I cannot work in my unit and cannot work at night which I have doing all my life.

Jan said they were having a security guard come at night to catch people sleeping in their units but that either was a lie or didn’t work.

Jan and Joe have knowingly rented many units to people that they know were going to live in them and installing TV’s, microwaves, air conditioners, as well as using them as work bays.
As I said before, there are only two units that are strictly storage in the whole complex.
At this time there only two units out of thirty that are strictly being used for storage. All the rest are being used as work bays or are being lived in with full knowledge of Jan and Joe.
Also, I mention that Jan asked me if it was okay to put the Comcast modem unit for the outside cameras, so they wouldn’t have to build an addition on the end of the building which would have involved permits and expense to which I agreed and was installed by Comcast but never hooked up to cameras outside.
The cameras were never put in and the modem was eventually pulled out.

Two summers ago, a lightning strike hit the transformer across the street and fried the outside air conditioner (on the east end of the building), my desktop computer, printer, a musical instrument amplifier.

When I told Jan to have the A/C tech come and repair the A/C she kept telling me it was my responsibility because it was a window unit. I kept telling her it is a building fixture and the companies responsibility. I took a month to get a repairman to come and fix the unit.

Last summer the A/C unit blew again, and it took a month to get the repair guys to come out just to take a picture of the tech label on the outside and another week to fix it when I told them (both times) that the motor was blown. They found a giant rat stuck in the fan blades the second time. Both time were in the middle of summer when it was HOT, HOT, HOT.

I asked her how to put in a claim for the computer and she told me that because I was behind in my rent she wouldn’t put in a claim and if I didn’t have receipts for the equipment she couldn’t put in a claim.

Yesterday (March 21, 2016?), while making an advance payment on next months’(April) rent, I told Joe that a guy in the unit to the west of my wall (the unit I was planning to rent to expand my SHOP) was smoking while breathing pure oxygen from a tank and this was in danger of exploding.

The next thing I know, Jan is on the property ranting and raving like a maniac that everyone was going to be evicted and I got a letter in my mail box saying I couldn’t work in my unit any more. No one else said they got the letter when I asked around.
Since Jan knew exactly what I am doing in my unit for TWO YEARS. If anyone is violating my rental agreement, it is her.

Also, Jan has knowingly rented units to at least eight homeless people that were showering and eating at a local church and now have apartments in their units including the two dogs one of which (a large ridgeback) looked like it was going to attack the last pest control lady (before this new service) but didn’t; he just didn’t know the lady. Jan was told this by the pest control lady.

Jan knowingly moved a person (Peggy) that was residing in a double unit with another person into a single unit that as immediately set up as a living space and rented the double unit to Jesse and his dog.

Jan has also knowing allowed dogs to live in units with their owners. The guy next to me (Jessie) has (I think he is moving out now – Dec. 2017) a double unit and has a dog (supposedly a service dog, but NOT) had an air conditioner, microwave, a full-sized refrigerator and a room to sleep in and was never harassed or told to move out.

Also, a report to the city of Pompano Beach will mean that most of the units will have to be vacated.
Also, there are units that are violating code by having plywood walls rather that drywall.
The electrical in the buildings are over worked and a fire hazard.
There also has been an infestation of rats that has not been addressed after many complaints.

I only wish now to be left alone until I can move out of this complex and away from the very poor management and lousy customer service in this facility.

Sirs, I really hate to complain about anything, but I am being unjustly singled out, discriminated against, and picked on and I am really pissed.

I will put very bad reviews on your web site often unless something is done to satisfy my concerns.

Review: My husband and I have rented a storage unit at Storage Post in [redacted], Phone: ###-###-####) which was paid for until 10/**/2014. The facility was robbed and our unit was broken into and items were stolen. Rather than the [redacted] notifying us immediately, they placed another lock on our unit, which we had no key for. We tried to remove some items on the evening of Thursday, October [redacted] and could not get into our unit because the original key we had didn't work. The Storage Post office was closed that evening, so my husband went back to storage facility the next day (10/**/14), only to be told they were not taking any responsibility for items stolen from our unit, because they didn't know what happened. My husband then requested a theft/insurance claim form as well as filed a police report. I would not only like to file a complaint but also make other customers aware that these robberies are taking place at this storage facility in hopes new policies will be implemented to immediately notify customers if their storage unit is robbed/compromised...Desired Settlement: We would like a refund of the items that were stolen from our storage unit and immediate changes to Storage Post policies, requiring them to notify customers immediately if their storage units have been robbed or compromised.
