Mr*** called Storm Guard on 12/29/about a warranty issue on a front gutter that we installed the last week of July that was not draining correctlyHe stated that water was running behind the gutter and running down his fascia
This is a balcony located over the front door of his house with an ornamental fence and is flatThis area does not have any shingling and has not been touched by any of my crews other than installing the gutters along the front and sides
My crew was at Mr***'s home within days to check the problem and were able to identify where the flat roofing material came in contact with the drip edge had deteriorated over time from heat and thaw which created a seam that the water is able to penetrate behind the drip edge flashing and run under the drip edge flashing which is what is causing the problemThere is nothing we can do from a gutter standpoint to change that circumstanceWhen the original flat roofing material was installed, it should have been run over the top of the drip edge so it would always drain into the gutterI sent Mr*** a picture of the problem and explained to him over the phone that it wasn't a gutter issue and that he would need to visit with someone that would do repairs to that area to solve the problemMr*** then said that my crews removed flashing that was thereThe proper flashing, which is the drip edge, is still in tactI said that if Mr*** could supply me with a picture if the "flashing" that was removed I would appreciate seeing itAt that point Mr*** abruptly cut me off and hung up the phone
We installed shingled roofing, gutters and did siding work for Mr*** and have addressed every one of the many calls he has made over small details that he wanted addressedGiven our experience with Mr***, if this area was leaking in July after our installation, we would have known about it immediatelyThe issue in his complaint does not have anything to do with the gutter installationWe will gladly take care of any warranty issues during the year gutter warranty period at no cost to any of our customersUnfortunately this one is not a gutter warranty issue but simple wear and tear over time and improper installation of the flat roofing materialMr*** could possibly caulk that area for a temporary fix or have the flat roof material removed and replaced covering the top of the drip edge so that area drains properlyIf the Revdex.com would like pictures or further documentation to verify our position, we would be glad to supply it
