Also important to me was Chris and his crew being mindful of my property while working. They completed the reroofing in one day--pretty amazing. And it looks great! There were some other items noted on my insurance claim inspection--such as some painting, screen repairs, and window framing repairs--and Chris took care of all those aspects as well. They were instrumental with the insurance agent and guided us through the entire process. As a board member of our HOA, I worked very closely with Chris *** as he managed the roof replacement on our 240-unit HOA.
Our HOA needed our roofs repaired for the third time in about ten years. Of the contractors who met with the board, Christ was the only contractor who talked to us about seeing a problem on our roofs. Chris explained that the way the vents on our roofs were laid out, created issues for us in the summer and winter months.
Chris continued with his explanation. An average hot summer day, the alignment of the vents caused the air in the attics to escape slowly and created the buildup of heat in the attics.
This was the correct diagnosis. The slow escaping hot air would not dissipate from our attics until 2-3:00 AM.
During the wintertime, the area around the vents would become “hot” and melt the snow around the vents. As the sun went down, the melting water running off the roofs would slow and turn to ice. This ice would create a problem called ice damning.
Ice damning is the process of the ice walking up the roof, returning to the packed snow that it came from. As the ice made its way back up the roof, the ice would get under the shingles. This would damage the integrity of the shingle and over time, the damaged shingle will allow water to leak into the attic.
There were several solutions that could be put forth. But Chris advised the best solution to our problem. The installation of ridge vents on our roofs. This process solved all our roofing issues.
The air would now be released throughout the day and evening. No longer would hot air build up in our attics and be slowly released.
In addition, no more ice damning. Ice damning weakens the integrity of the shingle. This in turn weakens the shingle and reduces the life of the shingle. After three roof replacements in 10 years, we are hopeful that our new shingles will be able to last more than 4-5 years.
Finally, the ridge vent eliminates the ugly roof line caused by so many un-needed vents on our roofs.
It was during this roofing project that I saw the integrity and honestly of Chris ***. But his customer service did not end there. I also observed how Chris handled our homeowners’ issue and worked to solve each concern with sensitivity and care. Chris did not consider the problem solved until he heard from the homeowner that they were completely satisfied that the problem was solved.
