Straightline Tax Services LLC Reviews (6)

Our records do not indicate four (4) amended tax returns were prepared for Oregon DOR Per our ending conversation with the client, our verbal agreement to separate Straightline Tax Services from further contact with the client was agreed upon but is not being respected Further, there was a written Service Agreement signed by the client prior to services which clearly states a $non-refundable portion of the service fee The firm stands in compliance with the Service Agreement After deliberation, we determined a partial refund to be fair for both parties, as there was extensive work done by our Enrolled Agent to determine the true underlying cause of the situation The true underlying cause of the situation with Oregon DOR occurred more than a year before contacting Straightline Tax Services. Our responses contain factual information so we apologize for any redundancy in both responsesRegards, [redacted] Straightline Tax Services

*** *** contacted Straightline Tax Services LLC on February 17, seeking assistance with amending her Federal and State tax returns She had an under reporting issue on her tax returns, which were timely submitted by the client to the respective Revenue Departments
She contracted Straightline Tax Services to correct under reporting errors made on both returns for a total fee of $700, which was paid in one installment on February 18th, The Federal and State returns were prepared once the necessary information was provided to Straightline Tax Services by the client The Federal return was given to the client for signature, she reviewed the document, signed, and was later sent to the correct department within the IRS for processing An error on the Oregon return was brought to our attention by *** *** after she received a notice from the State DOR A conversation between *** and one of our representatives ensued to discuss how we planned on resolving the issue A full refund was promised to *** on the basis that a catastrophic mistake had been made on our part, which caused her to receive a substantial refund from the State which was due back to Oregon DOR in addition to the amount of tax she actually owed from her under reportingWe addressed the issue by placing multiple calls into Oregon DOR to discuss what had happened and what was to be done to correct the issue. From our conversations with Oregon DOR, we determined our error had absolutely no effect on her case with the state The refund granted to her from the State was issued in to a personal bank account, prior to hiring Straightline Tax Services As a precautionary measure, we requested the State of Oregon abate all penalties that may result from our error, which was granted We ensured the newly amended return was accurate and was sent to *** for Signature A partial refund of $was given to *** for her purely for her inconvenience Section of Straightline Tax Services' Client Service Agreement clearly states that there is a non-refundable portion of the service fee of $ The Service Agreement was signed by *** *** prior to beginning services. We truly believe the proper steps were taken in resolving this issue with the Oregon DOR and Straightline Tax Services should not be held liable for a mistake that was made due to her own negligence. Our records do not indicate four (4) amended tax returns were prepared for Oregon DOR.  Per our ending conversation with the client, our verbal agreement to separate Straightline Tax Services from further contact with the client was agreed upon but is not being respected.  Further, there was a written Service Agreement signed by the client prior to services which clearly states a $350 non-refundable portion of the service fee.  The firm stands in compliance with the Service Agreement.  After deliberation, we determined a partial refund to be fair for both parties, as there was extensive work done by our Enrolled Agent to determine the true underlying cause of the situation.  The true underlying cause of the situation with Oregon DOR occurred more than a year before contacting Straightline Tax Services. Our responses contain factual information so we apologize for any redundancy in both responses. Regards,[redacted]Straightline Tax Services

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
There were a total of 4 amended tax returns made by Straightline to the State of Oregon.  This is outragious for a company that insists they provide excellent tax service.  I am unsure which of the 4 amended tax returns that have been prepared by Straightline for the State of Oregon is correct.  A full refund in required.Regards,[redacted]
