Review: Streeteasy is a company that lists information about apartments for sale. When members type the address for my apartment, they are able to see (1) my name (and my parents' names, as co-purchasers of the apartment); and (2) our addresses (including a home address not associated with the apartment). I requested that this personally identifiable information be removed (i.e., our names and home address not associated with the apartment). I explained that I have been a victim of identity theft in the past and I am concerned about identity theft, personal security, and privacy issues. There is no business reason that our names (and unrelated address) should be released on this website. Also, this practice appears to be enforced selectively, as personally identifiable information is only being posted for some individuals, and not others.

Streeteasy has refused to take down the personally identifiable information, despite my requests.Desired Settlement: Please have Streeteasy remove my name and my parents' names (and unrelated address) from their posting regarding my apartment.

Review: I unsubscribed from StreetEasy emails in January and was still receiving them as of today. I clicked Unsubscribe to no avail. I contacted customer support repeatedly and was repeatedly assured that I was unsubscribed from all emails. Still receiving emails after over a month, I asked them to remove my account and all traces of my email address from their databases. I have received TEN emails in the past 24 hours regarding updates to listing and buildings I saved in their app when my account was supposedly active (if it was ever disabled). I am now receiving TWO emails for every listing update instead of just one. When I search online for the company, I have found numerous complaints of from others with this issue so it has clearly been brought to their attention before and nothing has been done. Their practices constitute unethical business behavior and harassment and their delay in resolving this issue is nonsensical given that they are owned by a large real estate software company ([redacted]) and have top software engineering talent capable of fixing this issue in a matter of minutes. It is really not that hard to remove an account and remove someone's email address from a database, leading me to believe that this is their standard business practice. It must stop immediately.Desired Settlement: I would like all of my account information, including but not limited to name, app preferences, and email address, completely and entirely removed from all electronic and written databases and records at the company immediately. I would like the company to create extremely clear and effective user interface elements of the app and website where any user can delete an account and update their email preferences. Emphasis on EFFECTIVE. The ability to delete account information and stop the flow of harassing emails is a RIGHT of consumers in this country and I am escalating this issue to the appropriate agencies, institutions, and police department. This company will stop harassing me or face serious legal and reputational consequences.
