Strickland's Diesel Service Reviews (%countItem)

They did some engine head work and put wrong parts in, which cost 8 hrs of additional repairs to truck, they refuse to share burden.
Strickland told me they could get *** part cheaper than I could, but used aftermarket parts, which were flawed they billed me for *** parts# ***, which isn't a *** part#, they then didn't check the measurements in these injector cup after installing, which would have prevented my complaint, they have the tool, which I witness them use after I had to pay to remove the heads and bring them back to Strickland for the 2nd time, which should have been checked before I picked them up the first time, I asked for help on the extra cost endured for this mistake and they refused and held the heads hostage until we signed a waiver for them, after they replace injector cups because Strickland didnt want me to presue them for the mistake after they were already paid in full on the first go around.

Desired Outcome

I would like for Strickland to pay the extra labor to re-remove and re-install the heads that accumulated because of this mistake or neglect to insure the proper installation and fit for the injector cups they installed in my engine heads.

We did install injector tubes for this customer. The customer only wanted the tubes installed in their heads, against what our mechanic recommended for the repair of their heads. We did the installation as the customer requested, and we ordered their parts through *** by the customer's engine serial number. *** gives us the part number for the parts based off the engine serial number. We have the receipt from *** with the injector tubes (part # ***) and o-rings (part #***) used for this job. None of the parts came from ***. When the customer called back with their complaint, we did work with the customer to make it right. We reordered the *** parts (injector tubes) at no cost to the customer (value $204.30), reordered a head gasket set for the customer at no charge (value $199.06), and did not charge the customer for the 4 hours of labor to replace and re-install the injector tubes (value $420.00). The customer's heads were not held hostage. When the customer came to pick up the heads, we explained everything and she had no problem signing the release or any further questions. We did the release based on our attorney's advise because they were making false accusations and threatening to take us to court on the phone prior to picking up the heads. By working with the customer to fix the complaint it cost us a total of $823.36. With working with the customer at no charge to them, we did help endure the burden and the cost. We already went above and beyond *** warranty policy, and we explained *** warranty policy with the customer at the time of pick up. The customer agreed at the time when the release was signed that by accepting their heads neither party owed any further restitution on this matter. We have proof of receipts, customer's invoices, *** warranty policy, and the signed release. We even have the *** parts we originally ordered for the customer. If you need any of the information, please let us know the best way to get you a copy.

I am afraid that their response is not accurate. The person I dealt with was ***, under his advice I went farther than injector cups, we did a complete head job on all three heads, resuface, vales, so I follow his advice. Not just the injector cups on 1 head that I original wanted. So that part of their statement is false. The shop I used was *** the engine guy there is Tony Foster, and he advised me to follow *** recommendations to do all the extra work recommended, to bring the heads back to *** specs (***'s words.) I cant image *** would send out heads that injectors would not fit properly. *** having to absorb the cost of removing incorrect injector cups and replacing with the correct injector cups should be no question, if then replacing the aftermarket gasket set (mechanic said they weren't original *** parts, he they said they may fit a *** but they are not original *** parts) that got ruin by installing the heads that weren't *** spec, because the injector cups were wrong, should also be no question, I only ask that they absorb some of the cost of their mistake, simple request! *** charge an extra 8 hrs of labor to remove heads after injectors would not work, and to re- install them because of the wrong apparently unmeasured and unchecked injector cups! I only ask that they absorb some of the cost.

Upon reading the customer's response, I feel no matter what we do, it would not be enough for this customer. A signed release of no further restitution means we owe nothing more. All major manufacturer's do not warranty labor, only the parts that failed. Please see *** warranty policy attached. This customer did not have a full head repair on his 3 heads as he was advised. A full repair of their 3 heads would require all new intake and exhaust valves, valve guides, valve seats, keepers, springs, injector tubes, valve stem seals, rotators, and surface the head. Unfortunately, the customer wanted to save on their cost and went against our Head Mechanic/ Shop Manager's (***) advise to fully repair all 3 heads. After being advised they still requested to only have the injector tubes installed. They did purchase a head gasket set and a thermostat, but that still is not a full head repair. See the copy of their original invoice #***, the customer did not have any valves, guides, keepers, springs, valve stem seals, or rotators on their bill just injector tubes. The customer only did 2 out of the 10 requirements on their heads that would make the 3 heads a full repair and bring back to *** specs. When customers go against our recommendations of what we know confidently know since being in business since 1972, then we do not offer any warranty. We did work with the customer even after not following our recommendations. Please see attachment of ***'s log of work done for the customer (no other parts other than injector cups and o-rings were installed). The customer spoke with *** via phone (*** only relays what the Head Mechanic advises) once they called back with their complaints. Also sending an attachment of a magazine article that explains the process to rebuild a diesel cylinder head. Their article explains the importance of every step and parts needed for a full cylinder head repair. Even though now, the customer feels that more is owed to them, unfortunately, they signed a legal document that states no more restitution is owed. Nobody covers cost of labor, just parts that fail. We have went above and beyond *** warranty policy already.
