Review: [redacted] has made a mistake and did not help pay for it. He inspected our roof on or about 5/28/13 before we purchased the house. Unfortunately, major problems were missed during the inspection. The shingles and felt should be overlaid over the edge of plywood, therefore, covering the plywood, not exposing it. The roof was installed incorrectly, and inspector failed to notice that. In January on 2014 we noticed the leaks. 3 roofers came out to give us a quote for repair. All 3, without any tools, could tell right away that the roof was installed incorrectly. Unfortunately it was raining and we were under pressure to complete the repairs. On 2/18/14, I have contacted [redacted] at [redacted]. 2/18/14 (Tues) Light rain. Sent over a picture of the roof, showing plywood and advised that the plywood is getting wet. [redacted] advised casually, that he can come over and give us an estimate, if we would like to. No offer of helping with repairs.2/20/14 (Thur) [redacted] advised that he is out of town until Monday (Feb 24)and the inspection company "wanted from me is that there is no missing shingles or major damage." We asked if [redacted] is willing to split the cost of the repair, the answer was "I am willing to get you a estimate and do the repair. How much is the estimate you have now?" We advised that the quote was at 800.00. And out of 3, that was the lowest and advised I d rather hire an independent party. No response from [redacted].2/25/14 (Tues)We advised [redacted] that the repairs have been complete and chip in 50% would be appreciated.2/26/14 (Thur)It's pouring, two days of rain are in the forecast. [redacted]s last email "Too expensive for me. I could of done the pairs for a couple hundred dollars. You didn't give me the chance to bid so I am not helping with payment."The reply to [redacted] contained a picture of weather forecast for the week showing major rain. I advised that repair needed to prevent any further damages. If we waited for him to show up, our roof would be ruined for good.Desired Settlement: I would like 50% of the repairs, $400.00.Even though [redacted] wrote he could have done it cheaper, I did my research. The flashing and nails that needed to repair a 2000sf house, is 380. Also, the sense of urgency was missing in his emails and urgency is very important in the rain. If [redacted] were to catch the defect on 5/28/13, seller would have done the repairs and we would not be paying $800.00. The trust is gone. I would not want a repair from this man. A full refund of $800 would be fair.
