 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  There has never been an issue regarding my carpenter Mr W[redacted] leaving to do another job.  I was completely accommodating and it was understood.  I knew Mr W[redacted] would be leaving for a week as he said on May1st but he never returned nor did he call.  I called him May 13th (gone a little more than a few days) and he flat-out blew me off.  I was stunned as I thought we had an agreeable association.  He refused to answer any questions.  He talked over me and at the same time and would not listen to me.  I got angry.  I took his advice and called Travis 3 times.  He also did not respond.  My electrician informed me (after speaking to Travis) that Travis said he was waiting till I calmed down.  Yet and still, he didn't call me. These 2 men have had a month to call me.  They're not calling because they've already been paid in full so why bother finishing up.  Six weeks into this $27,000 job they were already paid $25,000.  It's now 3 1/2 months later and Stroup Const has not fulfilled their contract with me.  To suggest I owe them additional monies, something that we already discussed would take place at completion of work, is to suggest that I have not fulfilled my agreement, which is slanderous.  Had I used my brain rather than my heart I should have paid them $9000 in 3 installments which would have meant I would still owe them $9000 since the last payment is due upon completion.
But I trusted these men to complete my job and already gave them $26,300.  That leaves a balance of $700.  Since $5000, give or take, was spent by them on materials for this job they could see no reason to continue.  Mr Stroup's argument is a moot point is it not?   How can I owe them money when the job isn't even completed?  How can they suggest I haven't fulfilled my agreement when I already paid them 95% of their contract?  In answer to Mr Stroup's account of events by line number:
#1  I have no idea what $700 for extra charges he is taking about.  No one ever mentioned to me a extra cost of $700.  For what?
#2  Yes, I knew I owed for the shower, AND DOORS, which never arrived and never installed.  It is my belief that the reason they never asked me for the shower money, until now,  was because they KNEW that I had saved them far more than the cost of that shower by independently paying for services that they themselves were supposed to do, per the contract.  That would have been the fair thing to do.  I thought they were being fair.  I see now, I was wrong.
#3  Mr W[redacted] told me the sub cont plumber was $3000.  He told me he gave him $1500 to start but could not pay him the balance because he didn't have the money, hence the plumber never returned and I had to get my own plumber to finish the work.  I call that a $1500 savings to Stroup Construction and an additional cost to me.  How can I owe a plumber for anything when he wasn't even paid by the contractor that I paid, never completed the work,  never returned, never installed my shower doors, and never submitted a bill to me?
#4  Again, what "verbal" agreement for extra charges. This is the first I know of an additional charge of $1200.  What is this charge for Mr Stroup?
#5  My kitchen was an 8' straight line consisting of 3 base cabinets and a sink.  Mr Stroup is lying to save himself.  No changes whatsoever, let alone "drastic",  were made to the kitchen.  Mr W[redacted] told me he was not comfortable installing a countertop nor installing formica so I contracted Lowes for the work.  A huge savings in labor for Stroup Construction and a $1000 extra bill for me.  I also paid $200 for paint which was included in my contract.
#6  I owe an extra $3000?  Where is the evidence that I owe that amount?  I now have to pay $800 for installation of my kitchen floor which my carpenter informed me he would do.
Mr Stroup is doing his level best to convince the Revdex.com that he is the injured party, that I have reneged on a contract and insulted their genteel sensibilities by getting angry at two grown men who walked off a job and never looked back.  I was a VERY patient, understanding, complimenting customer who appreciated, and said so many times, the quality of work that Mr W[redacted] was accomplishing in my basement.  I was tickled pink that I'd have a nice place for my family to gather during the hot summer months.  My 1st floor and back porch are still disaster zones due to basement furniture and storage strewn about, my basement still uninhabitable with less than a weeks worth of work to be done.  I believe that this was a deliberate plan to fleece me of every penny they could get out of me.   If they were honourable men they would complete the work, sit down at the table with me and discuss "the extras", show me receipts and I would pay them.  They can't do that because there are no receipts for extras, just their word which means nothing at this point.
I on the other hand, have my receipts for work that I paid for that Stroup and company failed to do.  Paint $200, plumber $500, new painter $500 plus paint again, floor install $800, $1500 Lowes cabinet and shelf install.  Total $3500 from my pocket.  I'd say Stroup Construction made out very well from my largesse.  So how do they justify telling the Revdex.com that it is I who own THEM $3000?
Regards,
[redacted]

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  You people are useless, I am no longer responding.  Apparently it's OK, according to the Revdex.com, for contractors to take all their money from a customer and then walk off a job uncompleted.  Mr Stroup and Mr W[redacted]  are scam and [redacted] artists.  They convinced you didn't they, that they bent over backwards to satisfy a customer?  I never complained about the mistakes they made on this job because I'm not about perfection.  They made my bedroom ceiling slightly over 6' in height because it was easier to just go ahead and drop the entire ceiling rather than to soffit a skinny pipe that was against the wall?  Now is that a professional?  I let that slide and many other things.  So much for me being a difficult customer.  They are liars and thieves and the most dishonorable and unreliable of contractors I have ever met.  They stole my money and left the job unfinished.  What is it about that that you don't understand?
Regards,
[redacted]
