Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 5, 2015/07/22) */ We offer residential clients two options for inspectionsOne option is for us to do an informal visual inspection for a flat rate of $This includes us coming to their house, a visual inspection of the issue and us providing our verbal opinion while onsite onlyThe other option is for us to do a formal inspection for a flat rate of $This includes a visual inspection and a written inspection letter We started offering the $option a few years ago because many clients don't need/want anything formal, they just want our opinionWe explain the difference between the options to all clients so they can decide which option they preferWe also inform all clients that payment is due at the time of the inspection The fee is a flat rate and is not dependent on the amount of time spent on-site, or the time spent getting the file opened, getting directions to the site, drive time to and from the site, and/or bookkeepingThe fee is also not dependent on our verbal opinionTo explain, while, whenever possible, we attempt to provide the client with a definite opinion of the cause and repair, sometimes the cause of an issue is not immediately evident and may require further monitoringTo do otherwise would be a disservice to our client [redacted] chose the informal $inspection optionAfter the visual inspection, [redacted] (Structures' inspector) could not determine what had caused the issueAfter explaining this to ***, [redacted] recommended further monitoring would be needed to determine if the issue was ongoing [redacted] called the office on July and left a message that he wanted to talk to an ownerOne of the owners called him back immediately [redacted] stated that because we could not determine the solution and because [redacted] was only on site for minutes that he should get a partial refundWe cordially reiterated to [redacted] that the fee is a flat rate fee, which he agreed toWe also reiterated that it was not dependent on the time spent on site (also that there is other time spent off site)We explained to [redacted] that when the cause of an issue is not apparent, we recommend further monitoring to determine if it is an ongoing problemIt would be irresponsible on our part to "guess" at the cause and/or recommend costly repairs, that may simply be a waste of his money [redacted] said he understood
