Where do I begin? From the get-go, this has been a horrible experience.
Starting with day 1; we moved out of our old apartment July 31st and into Stuart Court on August 8th (so a week in between)... We stayed with friends during that brief time of limbo (which was no big deal), all while the management office told us they were repainting and redoing the wood floors in our apartment. Come August 8th, we met [redacted] and [redacted] in the management office to pick up our keys, and [redacted] continues to tell us that the repainting and floors were never done, but they would be more than happy to do that once we move in OR we could wait another week to move in. Obviously, we couldn't wait another week and live with friends, so we moved in and were promised it would be taken care of. Well, guess what? It's March 2015, and NOTHING has been done. Absolutely NOTHING.
The floors have never been taken care of, which has now resulted in the lacquer [redacted]ling, the walls are chipping because of old paint, etc. It looks like a hot mess.
On top of all of that, since August I have made complaints about the security (broken front AND back doors)... neither have working locks. I have been told for MONTHS it would be taken care of, which it clearly has not. Due to it not being fixed, there have been stray cats throughout the building AND homeless people sleeping in the hallways and the room next to the front door.
I am absolutely sick of all of the ** my boyfriend and I have had to put up with the past few months... It has been the worst experience I have ever dealt with.
Just to name a few other issues;
-the water pressure is so bad, it takes twice as long to take a shower or wash dishes... and it's so bad, that you have to flush the toilet anywhere from 3-6 times to get the [redacted] to go down. (It's [redacted]... I'm not flushing an entire roll of paper towels down there. It shouldn't be an issue).
-homeless people are all throughout the building, and management does NOTHING about it...
-front and back doors are useless... you might as well have an open walkway and take the doors off their hinges.
-the sink hardly drains, so I have to use a plunger every single time I do dishes.
-the elevator NEVER works, ever. It's always stuck and can't ever go to the basement.
-the hallways are the nastiest things ever... there's always cigarette butts, beer cans, fast food trash, etc. all over the place.
Oh, AND before we signed the leases, I specifically asked if parking was included and was NOT extra, [redacted] and [redacted] both said it WAS INCLUDED... To my surprise, I go out to the parking lot one morning to find that my car is not there. Why? Oh, because parking is NOT included... So not only was I lied to, but I was also late to work and had to pay $150 to get my car back from the towing company.
The whole situation has pissed me off so badly. If you think about it, it's a customer service based company. The tenants are the customers, and [redacted] and his team are the people who are supposed to service the customers. Clearly, the management doesn't understand this concept.
I have been trying to call their management office ALL morning, since they're supposed to open from 10-5... no one has answered or called me back. So first thing Monday morning, I am going to speak with management face to face, and also contacting the regional and national managers. I am sick of this [redacted]

Review: We lived at Stuart Court Apartments from mid August 2014 until the end of July 2015. During that time, we had a lot of issues with the apartment. The doors were almost always unsecured, and during the winter there were often non-residents sleeping or staying in the basement laundry room. There were several months with no hot water both in the winter and the spring, and no explanation as to why and no compensation. Several other tenants on our hall had gas leaks, and were never compensated for this either. One tenant was forced to move out for health reasons as a result. When we were preparing to move out, the apartment was inspected and we were assured it was in good condition, but we were not given any documentation regarding the inspection. We cleaned the apartment thoroughly, moved out on time, and left nothing behind. We did not receive anything from Stuart Court through the month of August regarding the apartment or deposit return. Mid September, we received a letter stating that, due to the unclean condition of the apartment, we would have $300 deducted from our deposit, but did not receive a check for the remaining amount. When we called to inquire about the deduction, we were told that there was $150 in cleaning fees, but they could not explain the rest of the amount. As of 10/4/2015, we have still not received our deposit from our move out at the end of July.

We are fairly certain that this apartment complex is a scheme. When you take a tour, they spruce up the exterior and make it seem like the complex is under renovations and the apartments will look much better during move in time. There are no improvements made, however, and the complex is left to degrade in condition throughout the year. They are often unresponsive to maintenance requests. When the leasing year is up, they upcharge for use of freight elevators one week before move out to make money. Then, they refuse to give deposits back and count on students not following up.Desired Settlement: We would like to receive a check for our deposit as stipulated in the lease in a timely fashion. We also would like to receive either (1) a full refund on our deposit, or (2) a detailed explanation as to why a large amount of money was deducted, including pictures or a cleaning bill from the professional cleaners.

If factual support for any of the above is required or helpful, we have additional contact numbers for current and former tenants who can corroborate.
