Hello *** - Here is my response to the complaint attached
#222222">
I have done my research to see if this is a client of ours, or even if this client is in our system or databaseNone the less, I will respond and answer this supposed client of ours
Supposed Client wanted to know if we had an employee by the name of *** *** - And is yes, *** *** was employed with us at one given time, but is no longer with the company
Supposed Client claims that *** asked her for sensitive information pertaining to her Federal Student loans, asking for her Pin #, Birthday, And Social Security Number - This is true, In order to retrieve client's loan information, this information is required by the federal student loan data base, which the clients authorize themselves and retrieve their federal student loans for us to review
Supposed Client made a statement that she chose not to issue this information and did not authorize it, which is client's choice not to do soAt that time, *** informed her not a problem, and informed the client in order to review her loans; client must retrieve her own federal student loans and authorize us to review them to see what the client qualifies for, without the client's approval, we are not able to retrieve her federal student loansSo *** sent her the supposed client his contact info for her to review our company and due her due diligence, a common practice for our agents to do so, at client’s request.
Supposed Client claims that we have different toll free numbers on different marketing avenuesThis is correct; this is done in order to track how our marketing dollars are being spent
Supposed Client wants her basic information deleted from our database - The problem is, there is no record of this client in our database
Thank you,
SLCS Team

Amazing customer service from *** ***He is very professional and has always been right there for me to put my mind at ease and answer all of my questionsI feel very fortunate that I ever found this type of service as it has taken a huge burden off of my shoulders, while helping me to get back on my feet financiallyWould recommend this service to anyoneYou will not regret it!

I worked with SLCS back in October and they helped my lower my monthly payment from $373.88 to $65.33 a month. My loan also comes with a 20 year loan forgiveness instead of the 30 year term I was originally set up. My rep [redacted] was very thorough and professional and although there is a fee that I paid, Id rather have someone who knows what theyre doing represent me than pay on this loan forever. I am completely satisfied and have referred my friends to this company.

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing this email in response to a complaint that we
received from a Janae [redacted], via the Revdex.com.  We at SLCS assist former students in
processing their application with the Department of Education (DOE) to
consolidate their loans using Federal programs that were put into affect under
the William D. Ford act. We have successfully assisted hundreds of people to
consolidate their loans. The process is detailed and very time consuming. We
have streamlined the process and taken the worry away from people who have very
busy lives and don’t have the time or patience to do it their self.
The person writing the complaint
stated that one of our advisors said that
1)
We WERE the Department of Education
2)
The application must be processed right away
before the laws change
3)
That only through her research did she find out
that she could do this on her own at no cost with the DOE
Let me respond to these three points one by one:
First, we NEVER say that we are the DOE. We specifically say
that we work WITH the Department of Education to help consolidate their loans.
This is key to explain to each and every client for the simple fact that there
are several companies out there that distribute payments to multiple loans on
behalf of the student and they call it “Consolidation”. They then add on a
monthly service fee and stretch out the term making the student pay thousands
more over the life of the loan even though their payments are lower. This is
doing a great disservice to the student. We instead take them directly to the
DOE and explain each option and give them the choice to choose whatever option
is best for their particular situation. Then we help them process their
paperwork and remove the middle man. These companies that are missing out on the
thousands of dollars that the student would pay them over the term of their
loans and are calling these students and telling them that consolidation is a
scam.
Second, we let the client know that these laws are currently
in affect and they can take advantage of the opportunity however, Congress does
have the ability to remove these programs in the future and there is no
guarantee that they will be available in the future.
Third, she mentions that only through her research online
did she find out she could do this on her own. It is no secret that you can do
this on your own. The purpose of our service is to use our knowledge and
expertise to make the consolidation process as easy as possible for our
clients. We are to the Department of Education as H&R Block is to the IRS.
They charge people to do their taxes even though one may do their taxes on
their own.  Personally, I prefer to pay
someone to do my taxes because they are much better at it than I am. Even
though I pay them, through their expertise they put me in a much better
position than I would be if I tried to do it myself. To me, H&R Blocks
service is well worth what I pay them.
We take our customer service very seriously. In order to
ensure quality service, we record all of our calls.  I have reviewed this call and our advisors
followed all of our guidelines. Nowhere in the call did the advisor say that we
were the Department of Education. I would be more than happy to have anyone
from the Revdex.com to come in and listen to the call with me to confirm what I am
saying.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this letter. I
am happy that the Revdex.com allows us the opportunity to reaffirm our quality
service. Please feel free to contact me at any time.

Review: I received an official looking letter in the mail, with "EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY - FEDERAL STUDENT LOAN NOTICE. DO NOT DISCARD - SECURED DOCUMENT. PERSONAL & CONFIDENTIAL." written on the front. Assuming it was from one of my loan providers in regards to my student loans, I opened and read through it. It stated that I was eligible for student loan benefits with the new law passed regarding federal student loans. When I called the phone number, the man I spoke with said he was with the Department of Education, so I gave him my SS as well as my security question answer because he said he was asking for verification. He told me I needed to pay $595 to consolidate my loans and that I needed to start the process in a day or two, otherwise the offer might expire. I only realized that I wasn't dealing with the Department of Edu when I received an email from him later that day and saw that there was nothing in the email that would indicate such. The mailer and sales pitch were specifically intended to imply that the company is a part of the US Dept. of Edu. I would have never given my information to the man on the phone had he not said he was with the Department of Edu. The man on the phone purposefully tried to rush the process, possibly in order to prevent me from having time to find out that I was dealing with a private company and he's most likely making commission. I feel this company is advertising itself as the Department of Edu by the official looking mailer. I don't know if every sales person they have identifies themselves as working for the Department of Edu, but mine did. As a result, I gave him confidential information and nearly paid the $595 to have my loans consolidated. If I hadn't done further research online, I wouldn't have found out that this was a private company (the Depart. of Edu doesn't charge for loan consolidation) and consolidating my loans may not actually be the best option.Desired Settlement: I would like this company to stop it's deceptive means of inappropriate advertisement and identify itself as what it really is; a private company wanting your money and not giving you correct or thorough information about student loan consolidation.

The person writing the complaint

stated that one of our advisors said that

Review: I received a letter in the mail that looked official with perforated edges that had to be ripped off before opening. The letter stated that my student loan balance (which was given with very close accuracy) made me eligible for loan forgiveness or other benefits because of a new Federal law that has been passed. They gave me an approval id and a phone number to call (888-227-0932). Nowhere on the letter does it specifically say the name of the company. Anyway, I called the number out of curiosity. [redacted], Sr. Advisor, answered, from the Student Loan Servicing Department. He asked me for the approval id, and then said my name and address and asked me to confirm. Which I did. He asked some questions about my loans, payments, and gross income. The part that worries me is that he started asking more sensitive questions, such as Federal pin, birthdate, and social security number. I gave him my birthdate before thinking it through, but I did not give him the other two. He said he would email me information about his company so that I could ease my mind before calling again to verify my identity. So, I gave him my email address and he promptly emailed me. My worry is that the phone number given on the letter is not the same as the number given on SLCSDirect's website. They are a real company, but it is possible that he is not actually part of the company. I've said below what I hope the company is able to do for me in regards to this matter.Desired Settlement: I would like Student Loan Consolidation Services to delete my information from their records. And I would like confirmation that [redacted] does indeed work for their company, is a senior advisor, and has the email address [redacted]@slcsdirect.com, the phone number 888-503-4560 ext. [redacted], and that the company uses the toll free number 888-227-0932 for calling purposes. I have also reported this whole case to the Federal Trade Commission.Thank you.

Response:

Hello [redacted] - Here is my response to the complaint attached...

When I called and spoke with a rep they were friendly and helpful. There is a fee around $500 but compared to what some other companies are charging to provide the same service ($1,500!) it's quite reasonable. The guy I spoke with was surprisingly transparent-refreshing.

Review: Below is an email I sent to the company...

Good evening George. After evaluating the amount of money we currently owe on our daughter's loans, we have decided not to pursue consolidation of the federal loans with your organization. As it represents only a portion of the total owed. My wife called and emailed you about this matter.

One issue I personally have with your organization is the lack of follow up. For months we called to get status updates and no one returned our calls. At some point I thought we had been scammed. Besides the fact that your company can't consolidate all of the loans, I have lost confidence that you and you company would make us a priority.

Please immediately refund the $600.00 we paid for the service you have not yet rendered. If there is a problem with our request, please let me know immediately. I expect a response acknowledging this email. END EMAIL

Although we recently communicated and all of my information was allegedly on file, the response I received was; Who is this? I responded with who I was and still no response. I called the company again and reached someone. I told them essentially was I sent in the email. The person I spoke with said they did what they promised. I asked how, since the person we were dealing was no longer with the company and we received no proof of any loan consolidation. Finally the person I was speaking with said he would looking into returning my money and I would know the following day what was decided. That conversation occurred on November 21, 2014. To date I have not heard from anyone at the company.

While soliciting my business (money), I could reach this company with ease. Now that they have absconded with my funds, they don't seem to want to speak with me any longer. My prayer is that no one else falls for what this company is peddling. By the way, the agency carrying my loans said they could not be consolidated (private and federal). So don't believe these guys can do it either.Desired Settlement: I would like discontinue with this company and get a full refund. Since that may not happen, I want others not to be deceived by the practices of this company. My loans were becoming due and I simply wanted some help. completely my fault for be sucked in by the tactics of this company. I should have demanded more up front. Like direct numbers and proof of claims. Do your homework and you will pass on this company.

Amazing customer service from [redacted]. He is very professional and has always been right there for me to put my mind at ease and answer all of my questions. I feel very fortunate that I ever found this type of service as it has taken a huge burden off of my shoulders, while helping me to get back on my feet financially. Would recommend this service to anyone. You will not regret it!
