Studio 42

I paid a $100.00 deposit toward a tattoo, cancelled appt. within 1 hr. and was refused the return of all or part of my deposit.On July 8th at approximately 6:30pm I went to Studio 42 Tattoo shop in Memphis, Tn and scheduled an appointment with [redacted] for 7/12/13 at 9:00pm. I paid a $100 DEPOSIT toward the appointment. At 7:25pm, less than 1 hour later, I called to cancel the appointment after realizing I should not get a tattoo until I am medically cleared by my doctor since I have a pending blood disorder. When I called to explain the situation, the clerk at the counter told me he understood the situation and would talk to [redacted] about the cancellation and that [redacted] would call me back in 15-20 minutes. I never received that phone call. The following day, I called to follow up and was told that the appointment for the 12th at 9:00pm was already filled. So at this point, I am out $100 and the option for getting a tattoo is no longer a possibility, since the appointment slot has been filled and I am flying back to California the following day. So on July 9th at approximately 3:15pm I went to Studio 42 Tattoo with my dad and requested: 1. My Deposit or portion thereof returned (minus administrative or cancellation fees) 2. A copy of the "Consent" which they say I signed.I was refused the return of any part of my deposit, stating that it is "shop policy" and directed to a piece of paper taped to the wall- next to the door, approximately 4 inches x 5 inches in size. I was told that I had signed a "Consent" in which I would forfeit my deposit. When I asked for a copy of the "Consent" I was told by the person at the counter that it is AGAINST STATE LAW for them to give me a copy of what I signed.I DID NOT sign a Consent form, I merely added my name and number to a sheet of paper and was told that is how they would contact me should they need to.Desired SettlementI am requesting my deposit be returned in FULL. When I went to Studio 42 Tattoo on 7/9/13, I was open to a lesser portion, considering administrative or cancellation fees. However, I believe they are in bad practice by taking a full deposit and filling the time slot, giving me no option in the matter. I am just out $100. This is unacceptable. At this point, I am requesting the DEPOSIT BE RETURNED IN FULL, since NO SERVICES WERE RENDERED.
