Suburban Auto Sales Reviews (2)

I have purchased many vehicles from Suburban Auto Sales over the years Every vehicle that I purchased was in excellent condition and the price was reasonableThe owner and staff were very helpful in the purchasing process I highly recommend this Dealership for the purchased of a used car

Review: I purchased a 2003 GLS VW Jetta on August 28th 2013. Two days later (30th) the check engine light comes on. I did not drive the car a 100 miles. I called the dealer. He told me to take it to his garage, so I did. It needs a new Catalytic converter. The dealer ([redacted]) said he would split the price with me (this is 2 days after I bought the car for $7167.) I said I don't have the extra money ($265) since I just spent the above mentioned $7K on the car. He said it doesn't need fixed right away. So trusting him I said okay, then I will get it fixed in January when the car needs inspected. About two weeks later the check engine light starts to flash. So I called him again.... He said take it to my garage. I decided to take it to MY garage to have it looked it. My mechanic told me that the wiring in the vehicle was all messed up and that it was reading that a piston was misfiring and that gasoline was leaking somewhere into my engine. I asked him if it was safe to drive and he told me that it was not safe to drive. The check engine light flashing means that it is doing damage to the car. The gasoline leaking was also not safe. My mechanic calls the dealer(he has dealt with him before) and tell him what is wrong with the car. The dealer calls me and goes right down and gets my car from my mechanic and takes it to his garage. It needs 4 new spark plugs, new coil pack, and his mechanic just took out the excess wires. The garage calls me and tells me it will be $600. Then [redacted] calls me and tells me since it is his guy (it always has to be his guy) that the price would be $450 and he will split it with me. He sold me an unsafe car to drive, that needed a new catalytic converter which I found out not even 100 miles into driving it. He now expects me to spend another $490 at his friends garage. I told him I did not feel that it was my responsibility to pay for the maintenance on the vehicle because he sold me an unsafe vehicle to drive that needed a new cat right away. He assured me the car was in GREAT condition and that his mechanic checked it out. If his mechanic checked it out how would he not see the excess wires and not check on the scanner that plugs into the car to tell that it needed a new catalytic converter? I called the mechanic to see what kind of converter he would use if I had him replace it. He told me it was a magnaflow and he keeps one at his garage for [redacted] just in case this would happen. This all seems a little coincidental to me. I have to go to his mechanic, the car needs a new cat 2 days after I bought it, his mechanic just happens to have one laying around that I need, and the cars wiring was messed up and caused it to read that a piston was misfiring along with gasoline leaking in my engine... and he wants me to split the cost! He sold me an unsafe car to drive and wants me to split the price because he told me that if he pays for all the repairs he would not make any profit, well I do not car if he makes a huge profit. He bought the car for around $5900 and sold it to me for $7167 if he pays for the repairs (that he should have done in the first place) he still makes a profit. Also, the invoice I received for 4 new spark plugs, plug wires and new coil pack had no PA state tax applied to it. It is all a bit shady to me.Desired Settlement: Best case scenario - I would like my money back plus the taxes I had to pay. He sold me a defective car that was unsafe to drive. If not I would like him to pay for my repairs at the mechanic of my choosing that way I know I am not getting ripped off by him and his friend.
