We hired Suffridge Design & Build at the recommendation of friends after touring their major remodel. We are happy we followed their advice for our full kitchen remodel and home make-over.
The Suffridge Design & Build design process allowed our vision to evolve and change to address our home constraints and budget. Ken and Becky shared our enthusiasm and provided design insight which resulted in a fabulous finished product; better than originally envisioned. Having both Ken and Becky involved was invaluable!
The construction process was smooth and the team was respectful of the fact that we were still living in the sleeping/bathing quarters during the remodel. Unforeseen conditions were quickly assessed, discussed, priced and remedied to keep us on schedule. Our home was clean every evening when the construction crews left for the day.

Ken and Becky, we want to express our appreciation for the beautiful remodel of our Bay Park home. The transformation of our galley kitchen and confined floor plan into a modern kitchen and open, flowing floor plan makes entertaining family and friends enjoyable. We were impressed with the skill and professionalism of the tradesmen that worked on our project, and appreciate all of your efforts in making sure the project was completed on time, on budget and as we envisioned.

During our home edition job we encountered 2 major issues with how the owner, Ken Suffridge, conducts business:.
1. Ken does not know how to manage the outsource labor that he hires. He is not able to get the laborers (framers, concrete, stucco, roofing, drywall, etc) to consistently show up and Ken does not hold them to a good quality standard. We had to point out issues that the laborers did to Ken and then Ken would always try to convince us that we should just accept the inferior work and so he can keep the laborers coming back. Ken's motto was "I don't think it looks that bad"
We had to settle for poor quality on many things and they took 4 months longer than what they told us to complete our job.
2. Ken is not good at telling the truth. There were many occasions that Ken told us different stories about an issue and we were not able to fully trust what he was telling us.

The home remodel that we had been dreaming about for many years also provoked some level of anxiety based on the cost of such a large project and the nightmare stories we have heard about working with contractors. When we finally secured a construction loan to do the project we went about methodically selecting the contractor to do the job. We selected Suffridge Design & Build with confidence. A colleague from work did a major home remodel a few years ago with them and had nothing but positive things to say, which helped us feel even more comfortable with a strong reference.

Our project entailed a room addition, extending our master bedroom, and a variety of interior renovations (e.g., re-positioning openings, moving a window, covering up an ugly and unused fireplace, etc.). Ken and Becky from Suffridge Design & Build were highly professional, patient, honest, and communicative every step of the process. The design-build approach meant that we were able to work with them to design our remodel with their expertise and experience informing our options and decisions. Once the project started they communicated with us on a daily basis about the status of the project, what would be coming up next, and consulting about any questions that inevitably arise as the project proceeds (e.g., where specifically do we want electrical outlets placed, air vents placed, recessed lighting placed, etc.). If there is one thing that I have heard is problematic with contractors and clients it is lack of communication. This was not the case at all with Suffridge.

Since this was a one time remodel to essentially re-make our house into what we really wanted, as opposed to what it was when we bought it, we wanted to get it right. The quality and workmanship of our project was excellent. Ken ensures that all workers are professional, considerate of the homeowners, and do excellent work in their specializations.

The project was expensive, as any remodel of this scale would be, but it was not as expensive as many of the bids we received. Most importantly, it was exactly what was quoted. Other nightmare stories about working with contractors is constantly escalating costs that take a project way beyond what was originally quoted. Ken Suffridge let us know what the unknowns might be that could impact the cost -- things that are discovered after walls are taken down and infrastructure is more readily observable -- and when in the process that might come up. There were no surprises, which was lucky for us since we have an older home. In the end, not only was the original estimate on target we even received a few refunds along the way when anticipated costs ended up being slightly less.

In summary, Suffridge Design & Build was the best choice we could have made for our home renovation. The outcome of the project was essentially a new house and the one we had dreamed of for years. Our beautiful new house also fell within the budget, was done slightly earlier than anticipated, and increased both the value and comfort of our home tremendously. The nightmare stories of home remodels and contractors turned out to be the opposite for us. We are happy to give Suffridge Design & Build our strongest endorsement!

Thank you so much for making our vision become a beautiful reality. We love our new room additions SO much. We had our doubts in the beginning but you and Becky gave us the reassurances we needed to see what the finished project would be and how great the finished result would look.
I also want to thank you for addressing all of our needs and concerns throughout the project. With three small boys on the job-site, our kids safety was our top priority and your guys did a great job with securing everything and making sure everything was cleaned up each day. They were all friendly and treated our family with the greatest respect.

We had thought about remodeling for a few years and had dallied with rough plans and ideas, however no one ever really caught “our vision”, until we teamed up with the Suffridge Design team. We met regularly with the Suffridge's in our home, for almost 4 months, planning and changing various details, until we had what we thought was a finished plan. Our remodel was a large endeavor for us, and we wanted to be sure everything was livable for our family of 5. Ken and Becky did also, and they never pressured us. Finally after several months of planning our remodel began. Ken had cautioned us that there would be disagreements and disappointments as was went through the remodel process, however frankly there were no disagreements and very, very few disappointments.
Today we are enjoying our beautiful home, and it flows and feels just like was intended. Working with Ken and Becky Suffridge was a blessing from the very beginning, and an answer to our prayers.
