Sultane Antiques - Antiques at rue 154

The company was extremely nice and willing, but the shipping company and I never connected because of phone tag. I need a working contact number for Sultan Antiques. Both numbers I have for Sultan and for the shipping company aren't working. Does anyone have one?

DO NOT DO BUSINESS with Sultane Antiques (aka Intercontinental Antiques) in Norwich, CT. On 4/1, I purchased a Louis XVI replica credenza for $1,795 via ebay. When the item finally arrived, it was crushed either by the shipper or shipped that way. Raymond Sultane claimed he would send a replacement item. Six months and many excuses later, I have no replacement piece and no refund. I am now pursuing legal action to attempt to obtain a refund.

Review: I ordered a custom size console table from this company on 12/14/2012. The $750 price for the table and shipping was paid at the time of order. The table was received on 5/13/2013 and the dimensions were completely incorrect. I promptly notified Mr Ray Sultan who apologized and said they should have checked the measurements before they sent it out to me. He promised to reorder the table for me and it was agreed I could keep the wrong table until the correct table was received. On 8/19/2013 Mr Sultan informed me by email that my correct table had been received in his warehouse and asked me to call the next day to verify dimensions and arrange an exchange. I called the morning of 8/20/2013. We verified the dimensions as correct. Then, Mr Sultan informed me that I needed to arrange and pay for shipping of the incorrect table back to him before he would ship me the correct table that I ordered originally. I was shocked. I told him that it was very unfair for me to have to bear the freight expenses to return a table that was not what I ordered and never should have been sent to me in the first place. Nor was it fair for me to have to to wait to receive the table I originally ordered and paid for at the time of order (12/14/2012). His response was that his supplier charged him to remake the table and that it was very expensive for him to have to pay the freight charges for both tables. I told him I understood that, but it was certainly not fair for me to have to pay for a mistake he made. It should certainly not become my problem. He kept arguing how much money this was costing him. As an alternative to my arranging and paying for return freight of the wrong table, he offered to ship me my correct table and let me keep the wrong table for an additional $500! I told Mr Sultan I did not want the wrong table. After thinking about it for a few days, I also informed him by email that I would not be paying the additional hundreds of dollars in return freight in order to receive my correct table.

Immediately ship me the correct table that I ordered, and paid for, back in December, 2012. Then, when received, if Mr Sultan wants the table back that he shipped to me in error, Mr Sultan can arrange and pay for pick-up and return shipping of that table.

The response from Antiques at Rue 154 makes no sense in this situation. To begin with, this table was not purchased from [redacted]. It was a custom size ordered over the phone dirtectly from the business - Mr Ray Sultan . Subsequently Mr Sultan sent me a [redacted] Money Request on 12/14/2012 which I paid promptly and reiterated the custom measurements in the Notes section of the Money Request. (Copy Attached)

On 5/13/2013 when the table arrived, I notified Mr Sultan by phone and subsequent email (See attached email correspondence) that the table I received was completely incorrect in size. The bottom line is Mr Sultan sent me the wrong table. He is refusing to send me the table I ordered and paid for, unless I pay to send the incorrect table back to him. Even [redacted] does not require a Buyer to pay for the return of merchandise when the Seller sent them the wrong merchandise. I want the table I ordered and paid for in good faith.

Ebay's policy is irrelevant. I did not purchase the table through [redacted]. I am not trying to "exchange" one table for another --- I was not sent the table I ordered and paid for. All I want is the table I ordered and paid for. If the Seller wants the incorrect table back that they sent me, they should have to pay for its return. Even [redacted] does not require the Buyer to pay for the return of merchandise when the Seller sends the wrong merchandise. This was not my fault and I should not have to pay for the return of a table sent to me that I never wanted in the first place, in order to receive the table I did order.
