Summers Auto Sales, Inc Reviews (12)

I am ***, the manager for Summers Auto Sales in Loveland Cn July 18th, the two customers purchased the *** *** from usThe customer claims that we took advantage of them with the transaction. We do our best to ensure our vehicles fit the needs of our customers
We
suggest a certain test drive route that allows time to get a good feel for the vehiclesOur customers are never told that the route is required, and they are always welcome to do a pre-sale inspection on any vehicleThe customers knew about the check engine light and the broken rear window wiper blade at the time of saleWe agreed upon an "As-Is" sale, the the exception of those two items, which we put into writing that we would take responsibility for, for up to days from the date of saleWe had the taken to a local shop multiple times to fix the issues causing the check engine lightThere were multiple issues causing the light to come on, and it took longer than we had anticipated to fix them allWe did get the check engine light fixed, as well as an unrelated leaking gasket, which we voluntarily paid for, even though we sold the vehicle "As-Is." I also offered to buy a rear wiper blade, but I didn't know which part to order from ***I told the customer that if she went to *** they would figure out which part was needed, and I would buy it for herAfter the last time at the local mechanic the check engine light and the problems causing it were fixedThe customer called me saying that her windshield wipers were not working properlyI told her that she should take the vehicle back to the mechanic to see if he could figure out what was causing the wipers to have problemsI never heard anything else about the car
While we were in the process of getting the car fixed, the customer asked if it was possible to trade into a different vehicleI told her that it wasn't a realistic possibilityWhile it is correct that my dealership could trade her out of the car and into a different one, it would involve me paying off the previous loan in full, and my dealership would lose a lot of money doing that
The customer also mentioned that she got a *** report and there were "history reports." Our dealership does not usually pull a *** report, because the bank we work with (the one that financed the customers' loan) already had pulled a damage history report from ***history reports simply means that there we things reported about the carThat could be as simple as registration, emissions tests, oil changes, or transfers of the titleHaving reports with *** could be good or bad depending on what was reported
In summary, we were up front with the customersWe provided a vehicle that fit their needsWe provided financing that fit their financial situationWe agreed to fix the biggest two known issues on the vehicleWe went above and beyond what was necessary, by paying to fix an additional leaking gasket that was not in the purchase agreementWe even provided a major mechanical warranty to ensure that the vehicle stayed safe and reliable for months or miles (to match the month finance agreement)I am truly sorry for the inconvenience to the customer, but I believe that my dealership went above and beyond what was necessary and what should be expected in taking care of this situationPlease contact me is there are additional questions
*** * - Manager

On November 13, *** * Bought a *** *** from Summers Auto Sales*** was aware that the vehicle was sold 'As-Is' and even signed a buyers guide stating that the dealer did not include any warranty*** was sold a optional mile or month vehicle service contract to help
with major repairs that might come upShortly after the vehicle was sold *** called and said that the radiator was leakingI referred him to a mechanic to get the repair costs reducedHe chose to use a different mechanicThe owner of Summers Auto Sales voluntarily paid for the cost of the repair, even though there was no legal obligation to do soAfter that, *** mentioned that there we other mechanical issues with the truck, and I once again referred him to a mechanic who I recommend to work with the service contract for repairsAgain, *** chose to go to a different mechanic*** stated in his complaint that "it went to the shop and the warranty wouldn't cover any of it." At the time of the repair quote *** told me that the service contract offered to cover a significant portion of the repairs, over $if I remember correctly*** also stated in his complaint that the service contract inspector broke the window (or possibly the window crank?) when he was looking at the truckI fail to see how this is a complaint against our dealership, as we had nothing to do with this incidentIn conclusion, *** took several weeks to select the vehicle he purchasedHe had ample opportunity to have a detailed pre-purchase inspectionChose that one vehicle out of several optionsHe purchased the vehicle 'As-Is.' He voluntarily purchased a vehicle service contract, which did offer to pay for the items listed in the contractI believe that Summers Auto Sales has gone above and beyond what is required legally and ethically to help ***, and there is unfortunately nothing else we can do to help him

We sold the *** to * on 09-05-We gave * a voucher to pay for the emissions testColorado law makes a dealership responsible for the emissions test for three business days from the date of saleThe truck failed the emissions test, and * notified our dealership withing the required
time frame* also mentioned that the turn signals stopped workingThe truck was sold as-is, but we offered to have the turn signal lights fixed anyway as a gesture of good faithWe sent * to a local mechanic to have the truck fixed so that it would pass the emissions testThe mechanic replaced a few parts related to the emissions and the lights and told * that he believed the truck would pass the emissions testThe truck failed the emissions test again, and we sent * back to the mechanic and provided transportation for * until the truck could be fixed* and his wife signed a contract stating that they would buy the truck, and we agreed to arrange the financingWe acted in good faith to arrange the financing, but * failed to provide the proof of income and insurance necessary to finalize the contractRather than attempting to enforce the contract, we chose to cancel the contract on 09-17-2015, and we waived all the fees associated with cancelling an auto finance contractThe parts are ordered for the truck so that we can avoid a similar scenario in the future

I am rejecting this response because:I feel I handed the vehicles that I could choose from. Not one salesman offered me the options for a larger down payment because I was not opposed to that. I feel that because this was not mentioned to me at the time of purchase and the fact that I couldn't leave without that "service contract" you guys knew something was wrong. I feel there was poor salesmanship involved because I went through you guys, an honest reliable company, or so I thought, to get a vehicle. I don't want this to turn me upside down but I don't want to and will won't pay a red cent for that truck. The bank told me not two days ago on the nineth that I could have left without it.

To Whom It May Concern,In response to the complaint submitted. I have attached the following documents in support of my response. The Title was sent certified to the Weld County Clerk on 2/13/17. The title work was returned to me by Weld County stating an out dated form had been used and needed to...

be signed by the buyer. I contacted the buyer and scheduled them to come to the dealership and sign the correct forms. The buyer did not come to the dealership at the scheduled time to sign documents. Buyer called me on 4/6/17 asking why Weld county hadn't received the title work. I responded, they never came and signed the documents as arranged. I said they could come over today (4/6/17) and sign documents. Customer came over and signed documents as needed. In regards the the other accusation that the plates and registration were not in the system and registered to the truck as stated by the county clerk. These plates and registrations are printed off of the Colorado State website when someone buys a vehicle and we pay for them. I photocopy them and place the in the buyer's deal jacket ( please see attached temp plate and registration). I showed this copy to the buyers on 4/6/17 when they came in and signed the needed documents and explained to them they are printed off of the State website and [redacted] stated he'd looked at the plate in the parking lot of the County Clerk and confirmed the plates were in fact correct. I can only assume the clerk was looking at the wrong information or the state system had an issue. I don't know why the buyers mentioned this in the complaint as they had already confirmed the clerk was incorrect by seeing the correct plate on their vehicle. As a courtesy I printed and gave them a 60 day temp plate extension at my expense, as their plate was expiring the next day and I still needed to send the documents they had just signed, certified mail to the Weld County Clerk.

I have reviewed the response made by the business, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:Now I'm getting strong armed into keeping a vehicle that doesn't run and that will turn me upside down. The dealer told me I couldn't leave the lot without that warranty which now signals to me that they knew what the warranty covered and they knew that everything was going wrong with the truck. Well 24 hours later I took it in and talked to the bank and found that the warranty was only optional I should have been able to leave with out the warranty but summers would not allow me to leave without it. And then shortly after it went into the shop again with more going on. Well after it was looked at I was told that there's $5000.00 in repairs and when inspected it should have been covered by the warranty but it wasn't instead I was told it was maintenance issues which I don't see how that is my fault when I had bought the vehicle only a few days ago. The amount for repairs is more then half of what I bought the truck for where's the justice in the that. I was practically sold a lemon.

Buyer Beware!!! Bought a Mini from Summers auto in Loveland Colorado Had it two days and the clutch went to the tune of$1500.00. Called the dealership they refused to help in any way. Car only had 48000 miles on it was very disappointed in the dealership. [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I do not agree with outcome of response from business and investigation. It is the  duty of business selling vehicle that it is safe to drive off lot. It has been deemed by two mechanics including [redacted] that it is not safe to drive. There have been countless reviews from other consumers on multiple platforms that state vehicles sold by Summers Auto are unsafe and unrealiable. They consistently sell vehicles that are not fit to drive. [redacted] Dealership informed us, had they sold a vehicle in this condition, they would have bought it back. With poor business practices and dangerous products, business should be held accountable and held to a higher standard.

[redacted], our intention is not to "strong arm you into" a problematic vehicle. Let me remind you that you took several weeks to select the vehicle you purchased. This was the vehicle you chose. The service contract is an optional add-on, but opting to purchase a service contract will often qualify you for a lower down payment, and more favorable financing terms. In your case, I was unable to sell the vehicle without either the service contract, or a larger down payment. We chose to include the service contract so that you could get the finance terms you needed to fit your budget. I apologize that we didn't explain that in such a way that you clearly understood your options. We were unfortunately ignorant of the true mechanical condition of the vehicle. I don't believe we were at all deceptive about the condition of the vehicle. We make it our goal to make sure every customer has ample opportunity to get a thorough independent mechanic's inspection. We also try to help people to understand the implications of an "as-is" sale. We do not offer a dealer warranty on any vehicle we sell. Instead, we offer the third party service contract, so that our customers have some basic mechanical coverage. We chose to go above and beyond what is required when we paid for the radiator, in an attempt to help you to have a vehicle that met your expectations. As far as the specific mechanical problems, and the coverage provided by the service contract, I can only repeat what I've said before. We recommended a mechanic to help with the cost of repairs, and to help with filing a claim. You chose to ignore our recommendation, and take the vehicle to a different mechanic, who was unable to repair the vehicle for the amount approved by the service contract company. I believe that if you had followed our recommendation for a mechanic, we would have been able to help you to get the important repairs covered with the service contract, but now it's too late to know. As far as I can tell, the quote for the repairs was very high, and the claim with the service contract was poorly handled. In conclusion, I am sincerely sorry that the vehicle did not fit your needs. I wish there was a way to work this situation out that was satisfactory for everyone involved. Feel free to contact us if you have more questions.
