Summit Awning Manufacturing Corp Reviews (1)

In response to your letter dated 9-28-2017, Summit Awning was contacted by [redacted] on 4-1-2016 to provide an estimate for replacement of an awning that their cement contractor, [redacted] had loosened and the wind had caught the awning and blew it onto the roof. On 4-15-2016 Mrs....

[redacted] signed a purchase order for replacement of the awning paid for by [redacted] Insurance. Note that during installation and pre-inspection it was noted that there was some damage to the roof because of the awning hitting the roof. The overhang repair and roof repair was done by others. It was also noted that the wood sheeting on the roof has severe dips in between rafters. After installation of the awning, flashing and some roof repair was done by others (original contractor) as it was determined that the roof was leaking. Summit Awning did make several service calls to determine what the problem was. On one of these visits to the property, I personally did an inspection after it was raining. Actually, while there, another torrential downpour came. While there, there was no leaking visible on awning or out of the overhang where it had previously leaked through the roof. On 9-27-2017 Summit Awning received a copy of a bill from [redacted] to remove 4 rows of shingles, apply ice and water shield, and flashing for $800.00. I responded to this bill and stated that Summit Awning would not be paying for work done by another contractor without any knowledge of work being done, let alone for work that Summit Awning had not done. Also stated in the letter was a note that the awning was built wrong and hung % to high. Understand that Summit Awning has been in business since 1959 and has built thousands of these step-down style awnings. All of these designs actually have stamped engineered seals. Also note if new contractors were on top of the awning, it could cause damage to the awning if not correctly done. I feel compassionate for Mrs. [redacted]'s problems; however, I don't feel responsible for roofing issues and for sure for work being done by others to fix a problem that Summit Awning had nothing to do with. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to give my office a call at (330) 773-3726. Thank you,Ronald M[redacted]President
