Summit Chevy Reviews (2)

To Whom this may concern:I am responding in accordance to complaint ID # ***I have reviewed the entire situationand also reviewed all the documents in the customers file, nowhere in there does it state that a factoryOEM back up sensor system was to be installed on the customers purchased
vehicleAlso it never stateswhat type of sensor system was to be installed, there are several types, brands, etcWe installed themost common two sensor system that is used on most after factory build installsThe system we usedinstalls two sensors in the plastic part of the bumper which is to eliminate any potential correction dueto our climate here in NYThis system functions very Similarly to the factory installed one, there aresome minor differences but that is common on any non-factory installed itemAs far as Summit isconcerned, the customer's needs were satisfied and as he left after picking up his vehicle when thesystem was install, there were no complaints at that time, therefore we closed his fileThe customer didapproach myself with a strong attitude and was aggressive in his conversation, I guess I can understandhis frustration, because he had to bring the truck back for the installation, even though we provided himwith a loaner vehicleHis aggressive attitude was not professional even after I told him we would beinstalling the system for himPer my comments above, everything we promised the customer, as youcan see by the attached documents was satisfied, therefore we will not take any further action.Thank you for your time,*** ** ***General ManagerSummit Ford

This is in response to a letter I received about [redacted] with a concern about an air conditioning repair that was performed here at Summit Chevrolet Buick GMC. The customer is requesting a refund for the work provided on 06/15/2017. Included in the response letter is copies of the two...

visits for the a/c to be diagnosed and repaired. When the customer brought their vehicle in on 06/15/2017 (refer to invoice #[redacted]) the system was completely empty. The technician performed the vacuum test an the air conditioning system and found it would not hold vacuum. Further diagnosis showed that the front condenser has a hole and is leaking. The [redacted] were contacted and an estimate was given. They approved the condenser replacement. The technician then replaced the a/c condenser and performed the vacuum test again. At that time, the system held vacuum. The technician then performed the recharge procedure and tested the system. He found the a/c system is now operating as designed. The customer paid the service bill and took their vehicle. They contacted us a few or so days later stating that that a/c system is no longer working as well as it did when the first had the repair performed. We set an appointment and brought the vehicle back in far further diagnosis. I explained to the [redacted] that the a/c system was working with it left. When the system is repaired and the system is recharged that the system is under pressure when it is operating. If there is a component that is less than standard that it may fail. The vehicle is a 2008 Enclave with 114,609 miles. It is sometimes likely that there may be multiple things that could go wrong with a vehicle of that age and mileage. We then brought the vehicle in the shop and performed the same vacuum test. At that time, the technician found the rear a/c lines that from the front system to the rear system to be leaking. The lines are corroded from weather and age. When the system was vacuum tested after the condenser replacement they were not leaking. The [redacted] were not charged for the second visit or diagnosis. We advised them that those lines would need to be replaced and the system retested. They declined further repairs. Unfortunately, on a vehicle of that age and mileage it is very hard to predict what may fail if it has not failed. The leak In the condenser was big enough to hear the vacuum when applied. That would need to be repaired in order to continue the diagnosis either way. When the repairs were performed the system passed the vacuum test and no other recommendations were given. I am sorry of course that the [redacted] are unhappy however it is impossible to advise a customer of what may fail in the future. It is our stand point that the condenser required replacement due to the obvious hole causing the vacuum leak. The fact that a second repair was required is unfortunate however not unlikely. I appreciate you time on the matter. I am happy to answer any further question on the matter. Please do not hesitate to contact me by phone or by e-mail. Thank you again.
