Summit Clean Air Doesn’t engage in “lying tactics”In the voucher that Mr [redacted] purchased from Living Social it clearly states “negative pressure cleaning of unlimited number of vents of one furnace plus one cold air return or a dryer vent”Many people call us for clarification prior to purchasing vouchersMr [redacted] elected to purchase additional services not offered in the voucher including brushing of the ducts and the cleaning of his furnaceAdditional services are not free Charging for additional service is not a scam, nor is it “bait and switch” As to the customer’s refund request of $because he “found another company who would have done it for less”: We reject his request because what the other company offered him is not the same method of cleaning we performedWe don’t advertise anywhere that we match our prices to the prices of other similar service providers quotes after the job we performed to the customer satisfaction was completed There are many companies out there that sell services and products (even the same exact product) for a significant difference in priceTry buying the same exact camera in different camera stores only to find out that there is a significant difference in price of the same camera from one store to anotherOr an airline ticket for example Regarding the filter – it can best be characterized as a misunderstanding More than 99% of our customers that order electrostatic filters install the filters themselves without any troubleEvery home owner knows or should know that replacing the disposable filter and/or cleaning the re-useable one once every one to three months (depending on the width of the filter) is highly recommendedDirty filters create a drag on the furnace resulting in higher energy cost of heating their homes If the customer still insists we agree to send a technician to install the filter in his furnace, conditioned upon his acknowledgement in writing to the Revdex.com that the matter of this complaint is closed

Hello [redacted] - I am trying to summarize the original offer of settlement from their email In essence, they are willing to accept that the cost of cleaning the system, as per my quotes from the other companies, at $250But they claim that the Cleaning Furnace ($200) and Sanitizing ($100) are not covered in that cost Thus they are willing to accept this as total cost of the service This would bring their proposed settlement to Cleaning Furnace $ Sanitizing $ Accept cost of all other services $ Thus their proposed settlement would be for a total due of $ Their proposed settlement would be to give me a refund of $ But, these numbers don’t “add up” The refund in their proposed settlement should be $if we subtract $from the $invoice.Original Invoice $ Initial Proposed Settlement Total Due $ Refund $ I would like to counter propose that the total cost of their basic services ($250) should also include the cost of the Voucher ($59) Thus my proposed settlement would beCleaning Furnace $ Sanitizing $ Accept cost of all other services $ Less cost of Voucher $ (59.00)Thus the total due would be $This would result in the following Original Invoice $ New Total Cost due $ Refund $ If this is acceptable to them, then I am willing to settle

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:it does not offer a solution, we are not accepting the extra charges that were never discussed and are excessive, indeed we all agree that the ac is old but clearly it was fixable as the other company did for $Summit clean aired not get the ac working and still wants to charge $for nothing Not acceptable We are still ready to pay the $that we did agree to Sincerely, [redacted]

We’ve checked with the same company as well and Mr [redacted] assertion is inaccurate and misleading For $this company offers a furnace cleaning (including: Blower, Heater, and Furnace cage) and the cleaning of heating vent + cold air return (Intake) using Negative Pressure method only They charge $for any additional heating vent and $for any additional cold air return Mr [redacted] has heating vents and cold air returns If Mr [redacted] would have invited this company to perform the duct cleaning job in his home using Negative Pressure method, the job would have cost him $It is important to point out that this price does not include the Dryer Vent cleaning and the price of a filter If Mr [redacted] would have asked our tech to perform the cleaning per the voucher he purchased it would have cost him $(the price of the voucher) to clean an unlimited number of vents + cold air return + dryer vent using Negative Pressure methodFor cleaning his furnace (Blower, Heater, and Furnace cage) he paid us $+ $for the additional cold air return The total cost to him would have been $ However, in addition to the negative pressure method we’ve used to clean his air duct system we also used brushing method of cleaning which is more expensiveWe’ve also cleaned and brushed the connection boxes to and from his furnace and we have sanitized his entire duct system Mr [redacted] clearly understood the difference between the methods of cleaning and agreed to pay us $1,for the serviceHe inserted his initials next to that price on the invoiceHe also signed the invoice acknowledging the termsHe also signed the statement of job complete that he found the job performed to be complete and to his satisfaction Regarding the filter that Mr [redacted] was not charged for, the filter was ordered and was delivered directly to his homeThis filter is washable and reusable and carries a life time warranty

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
Thank you for the opportunity to state the facts and not the misstatements that is being stated by Sumimit Clean AirIt seems that is a trait that excel very well atFirst off, I provided the following quote( you have a copy of that email) to someone named MozyI do not have his last nameIt clearly shows that the dryer vent is included( see below)So misstatement number The total Package below is everything that Summit provide with the exception of a filter and sanitizingThe lifetime guarantee filter costs $and includes resizing if I ever move, so I would not have to purchase a new one(not offered by Summit) plus the sanitizing costs $I am sure I could negotiate a better price if I wanted toSo the total price for the same service would be $compared to the $of which is want Summit charged meKeep in mind the original price quote was $1221, but they gave me a "great" deal at $Now let's talk about the actual services offered, the attachmentAs you can see, ***, a reputable company, gives the customer a completed list of the service the performSummit does notI asked someone named Mozy to look at their website, I provided him the linkHe says he looked at it and the quality was below that offered by SummitAnother misstatement of the truthAs you can see it is a complete cleaning service- including sealing of the vents with a plastic seal(Summit did not do this) and a day follto see if the customer is satisfied with serviceSummit does not do thisThey also have people that answer the phone when a customer callsFor Summit I had to call three times with no luck and then notified Living Social and she offered to help meMy point is they are a reputable, trust worthy company with great customer service and follow-upAnother misstatement of the truth is that I clearly knew the difference between what Summit offered me and what *** offered meI only called *** when I was getting the run around from Summit about my filterThey said it was not included in the serviceI said it was and it was stated on my sales receiptThey claimed it was not on the copy they hadI sent them my copy and they finally realized that their sales receipt(which was the original and should have matched mine) had been doctored by the sales person who serviced my ducts. Mozy wanted me to sign a letter of compromise in order to get my filter which I had already paid forI have provided it that to youWhen I told Mozy that I would not sign it because this is a legal document restricting my ability to criticize them he insisted it was just a formal letterThis is also shady business practices by this companyI also never signed any statement that the job was complete and to my satisfaction, another lie by Summit
As it clearly states on ***' website they follow the highest industry standards recommended by National Air Duct Cleaners Association so the quality is on par if not better than SummitNot sure whose standard they follow as there are not such statements on their websiteAll this information was at Summit's disposal since I sent them the website link twice but they to have ignored it and made up their own excuses as to the quality of their work compared to ***
In regards to the filter, yes I have received it but no instructions on how to install it as Mozy assured me there would beSo it is not being usedI have emailed him with no responseNow the biggest issue, in my opinion, is that I requested Summit's California State Contractor's License number from Summit with no responseI am entitled by law to have this informationI inquired with the State Board and they informed me they do not have license to do business as a Contractor in CaliforniaI have filed a complaintNot sure if they even have a license for the State of WashingtonI have also filed a complaint with Living Social, the website who is promoting this shady company Clearly this Company has many questionable business practices and needs to bring its business standards up to an honest, open and consumer friendly levelThey are several complaints about their work in San Diego on Yelp describing the same experience I had- the bait and switch tacticThey are a high pressure, intimidating company and consumers need to be warned of their business practicesI would never, ever recommend this company to anyone

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
First off, the voucher I purchased on Living Social was not for services from Summit AirIt was switched at the last minute after numerous tries of trying to get a hold of the first company that the voucher was forSecondly, the deal was air duct and dryer vent cleaning for the whole houseThirdly, if, in fact, other services may need to be performed to insure that the air ducts and heating system are truly functioning properly, then that should be stated in the voucherIf Summit Air were an ethical company, then they would do thatAlso, other companies clearly state before they come over to your house what other charges there would be and the cost of those charges before trying to pressure sell you those services when they are in your house with their equipment at pm at nightThis consistent misinformation that Summit is throwing out there about their "negative pressure" equipment is just a bunch of NONSENSE!!!!!! Again, just lying sales tacticsI have sent them a link to a reputable company, Sears Home Cleaning, that clearly shows they use the same equipment and that it meets NADA standardsSummit does not provide any service that is superior to their competitorsThey provide much more expensive services than their competitors, that is ALL!!!!!! They spray something in your ducts and that is so superior???????? Since they have been here, I now have an infestation of moths in my house and my heating bill has increased from last yearWho knows what they did to the HVAC motor???? As far as the price is concerned, when Modi asked me to sign a legal agreement that stated I would not disparage Summit and that I was completely happy with the service, just to get the AIR FILTER I paid for that is when my suspicions went up about how crooked this company isSo I checked out other companies providing the same service and saw how much I had been ripped off bySo I was ripped off, fine I will live with that but will let others know to avoid Summit. The fact that they continuely denied the fact that I was entitled to the filter which was clearly stated on the Sales Agreement, that it was part of the service call, that it had to be special ordered, saying I should put in shows you how shady this company isThere are bad reviews all over Yelp and the state of Washington about their tactics yet they still profess to be a reputable companyHOW PATHETIC!!!!
Sincerely,*** ***

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: 1)My husband is very busy and very nice, the message he sent was regarding the work he did for the $in his mind that was the commitment for the time and assessment.2) We were never told you charge by the hour, he came and left and we don't have control of what he did in between Clearly he is not very familiar with AC because he took pieces from our AC that were working correctly and he exchanged them for others that he never told us how much they would be and never returned ours, and you want me to pay for pieces we didn't need, and at the end of the day they didn't make a difference because what was wrong was the (delay) and it took exactly minutes to the guy from the other company to fix it
Sincerely,
*** ***

On July 11th, we were invited to Mrs& Mr*** home to inspect why their AC unit is not workingWe've informed them prior to going there that we will charge them $service fee for just going there to inspect the AC unitThe $payment is a service call and inspection
fee, not for a wrong and / or right diagnostic fee.Our technician found that parts might be the cause of the problemHe spend his valuable time going to the dealer ship to buy the parts and came back to your home and spend an additional hours trying to fix the unit.He has also informed you that the AC unit is very old with very short, if any, of a life span and that you should consider replacing it with a new unit.Regarding the invoice, initially only the $service fee was written down and given to you to sign The reason for the additional charges were added later only after your husband asked our technician via text message to let him know how much does he owe us for the parts and labor (we do have that text message exchange in our files). We have also asked us to send us a proof in writing from the other company you have invited to your home that will substantiate your claims that we were wrongYou provided us their invoice that does not support any of your claimsMore over, in their invoice they restated in writing what our technician has told you about the old and poor condition of your AC unitThe gave it no more than one more year of life.We offered you before and we are offering you once again to discuss and agree on an amicable payment for the work we've done

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:it does not offer a solution, we are not accepting the extra charges that were never discussed and are excessive, indeed we all agree that the ac is old but clearly it was fixable as the other company did for $89.00. Summit clean aired not get the ac working and still wants to charge $677.00 for nothing.   Not acceptable.   We are still ready to pay the $129.00 that we did agree to.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Summit Clean Air Doesn’t engage in “lying tactics”. In the voucher that Mr. [redacted] purchased from Living Social it clearly states “negative pressure cleaning of unlimited number of vents of one furnace plus one cold air return or a dryer vent”. Many people call us for clarification prior to purchasing vouchers. Mr. [redacted] elected to purchase additional services not offered in the voucher including brushing of the ducts and the cleaning of his furnace. Additional services are not free.  Charging for additional service is not a scam, nor is it “bait and switch”.
As to the customer’s refund request of $500.00 because he “found another company who would have done it for less”:  We reject his request because what the other company offered him is not the same method of cleaning we performed. We don’t advertise anywhere that we match our prices to the prices of other similar service providers quotes after the job we performed to the customer satisfaction was completed.
There are many companies out there that sell services and products (even the same exact product) for a significant difference in price. Try buying the same exact camera in different camera stores only to find out that there is a significant difference in price of the same camera from one store to another. Or an airline ticket for example.
Regarding the filter – it can best be characterized as a misunderstanding.  More than 99% of our customers that order electrostatic filters install the filters themselves without any trouble. Every home owner knows or should know that replacing the disposable filter and/or cleaning the re-useable one once every one to three months (depending on the width of the filter) is highly recommended. Dirty filters create a drag on the furnace resulting in higher energy cost of heating their homes.
If the customer still insists we agree to send a technician to install the filter in his furnace, conditioned upon his acknowledgement in writing to the Revdex.com that the matter of this complaint is closed.

We are sure that your husband is a very busy and a nice man. However, that does not change the fact that his text message to our technician quote: "The system started working since the morning once I assembled it. In the meantime let me know how much do I owe you for the TWO PARTS AND LABOR" end of quote, clearly does not refer to the $129.00 service call fee, but rather to what he owed us in addition to the service fee.We are very disappointed that you have decided to reject our compromise offer. That unfortunately leave us no choice but to go ahead and file a claim in small court for the full amount specified on the Invoice plus court cost.

We spoke to the customer and her contractor and we agreed to pay for the job and work n restore the floor and the installation of a new carpet.

We value our customers and appreciate their business. In order to avoid a prolonged exchange of numbers rebuttals, we are willing to accept MS. [redacted] counter offer. We will mail Ms. [redacted] a check in the amount of $264.00 by Friday, August 14th, to the address on her invoice.

Hello [redacted]-  I am trying to summarize the original offer of settlement from their email.   In essence, they are willing to accept that the cost of cleaning the system, as per my quotes from the other companies, at $250But they claim that the Cleaning Furnace ($200) and Sanitizing ($100) are not covered in that cost.    Thus they are willing to accept this as total cost of the service.  This would bring their proposed settlement to Cleaning Furnace $ 200.00 Sanitizing $ 100.00 Accept cost of all other services $ 250.00  Thus their proposed settlement would be for a total due of $550.   Their proposed settlement would be to give me a refund of $195.   But, these numbers don’t “add up”.   The refund in their proposed settlement should be $205 if we subtract $550 from the $755 invoice.Original Invoice $ 755.00 Initial Proposed Settlement Total Due $ 550.00 Refund $ 205.00  I would like to counter propose that the total cost of their basic services ($250) should also include the cost of the Voucher ($59).   Thus my proposed settlement would beCleaning Furnace $ 200.00 Sanitizing $ 100.00 Accept cost of all other services $ 250.00 Less cost of Voucher $ (59.00)Thus the total due would be $491. This would result in the following Original Invoice $ 755.00 New Total Cost due $ 491.00 Refund $ 264.00  If this is acceptable to them, then I am willing to settle.

We would like to reiterate that Mr. [redacted] was not present during the time we serviced his air duct system.  Mrs. [redacted], who was present during the service, approved and authorized all the services provided. Cleaning the furnace ($200), and sanitizing the ducts ($100) was not...

included in the voucher Mr. [redacted] bought, but were authorized by Mrs. [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] claims two companies told him the deep cleaning service we performed should cost $250.  Although we asked repeatedly– we didn't receive a copy of a written quotes from those companies. When we tried to speak with Mr. [redacted] – we were told he was deaf, so we were unable to discuss his concerns with him. We are willing to take Mr. [redacted]’s statement about the pricing he received from two other companies at face value, and subtract $250 from the remaining $440. on his invoice. We will send Mr. [redacted] a check in the sum of $195. The services offered in the voucher were performed fully and correctly. We invite Mr. [redacted] to read the explanation below concerning the negative pressure method – and why the vacuum machine was only hooked up to one vent:Negative pressure method: Our technician performed a Negative pressure method of duct cleaning – as included in the voucher. Negative pressure method is the vacuuming of dust and loose debris from the duct system. It’s done by covering or closing all the vents, leaving just one open to allow suction. A large vacuum machine is connected to one point in the system– usually the furnace, connection box, or a vent nearby the furnace. From there loose debris is vacuumed from the whole system. This is the process used by all air duct cleaning companies. Although the vacuum machine was only connected to one vent – it cleaned out the whole system. Since the duct work in the house hadn’t been cleaned for a very long period of time, our tech suggested that deep cleaning should be performed. Mrs. [redacted] approved the procedure and the cost of $440.00 associated with it, and our tech performed deep cleaning.
