Summit R V Repair Inc Reviews (1)

In response to [redacted],  ID[redacted]  Customer dropped 5th wheel and truck off for storage and list of repairs on Aug 27th. he would not be able to respond as he was going on an alaska cruise, so we would have to use our discretion on repairs keeping in mind a budget. We did go over...

his list of repairs before he left as there were several that we could not do.  Customer picked up truck and trailer on Sept 4th spent a little time going over the bill, repack bearings, lube slides, resecure right rear wall, adjust cables bedroom slideout, and straighten step if possible.  Repacked the bearings, had to clean drums, magnet surface and backing plates because someone had injected to much grease through the zirc fittings on axle. could not contact customer to see if he wanted backing plates replaced, (judgement call) did not charge for the cleaning. we do not clean outside surface of the drums or grease due to overfilling. explained this to customer upon pickup. The bearings were repacked, seals replaced and brakes adjusted to factory specifications. Charge $325.00   The slideouts were lubricated with silicone spray (dry lubricant) unfortunately lubricating stabilizers was not done because it was not on the work order, customer was not charged. explained that upon pick up. Charge $25.00   Right rear corner was repaired by removing insert and pre drilling new holes to secure rear wall into side wall, perimiter aluminum upright with 3-1/2 inch x 10 deck screws, cleaning old silicone and resealing. Charge $175.00   Bedroom slideout cables were adjusted and slideout was run several times worked perfectly. Charge $100.00   Told customer that entry step should be replaced. Customer didnt want to spend the money and insisted that spending up to an hours labor to make it at least fold out would be appreciated, we pretty much got it staightened to perfection. Charge $75.00    1rst call customer customer said there was no grease on slideout gear pack, I explained that slideouts require a dry lube, ie silicone spray and that rust on the components is normal I also explained that grease on the components would pick up dirt and be a problem. I assured him slideouts were lubed.    2nd call was again about the lubrication of the slideout, I again explained that we use dry lubricant. rust on the gear pack and track is a natural occurence due to them being exposed to the outside elements.   3rd call was again about the lubrication of slideout, and one of the cables was loose. Customer also stated that the rear wall was coming loose. He wanted our email so he could send pictures.    Customer sent 4 pictures, I reviewed them with my tech. 1rst 2 were of a rusty gear pack and track on slideout, 3rd was a loose cable on slideout, 4rth was of rear wall seperated. I called the customer and suggested that he should purchace some silicone spray in order to lubricate slideout points as semi annual mantinence. He said they had never been done since new. I cant tell why one cable was loose on the slideout, could be the position that the slideout was stopped at. With the angle of the 4rth picture I could not tell what had happened on the rear wall so I asked the customer to take a couple more pictures to see if the screws had broken, would have been obvious. I also assured custumer that bearing were packed, seals replaced and shoes adjusted. unfortunately cleaning the grease off of the outer rough surface of the drums would have come at an extra charge because you would have to remove the races from the drums in order to hot tank them. I never heard back from customer until complaint logged.   We do guaranty our work, unfortunately the coach is 200+ miles from here. Obviously the customer needs the repairs redone, because of our shoddy work. If he could take it to his rv repair in Canada and have them call me to go over the repairs we did, Im sure we could come up with a solution.
