I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ***.
A copy of Summit's installation estimate is includedIt clearly says "To remove and install two doors supplied by homeownerI charge $per doorAny added rod and flashing will be billed accordingly." No per hour, per person labor charge, or travel time is included in the contractor's written estimateIn actuality, his team spent 3-hours on the job and they are trying to charge me for travel time, which again is not part of the written estimateSummit gave me the cost of $for additional materials which I agreed to payI also agreed to pay for the additional laborBut Summit is now trying to change the estimate to $per door since the work is only partially doneI refuse this offer. We agreed that I would measure and order the front doorI ordered the right size as confirmed by a second contractor I have hiredSummit agreed to this and to picking up the doors at their local *** *** The reason they are saying it's the wrong size is because of the additional rot discovered when the original door was removedThere was no way of knowing that in advanceIn addition, if there was any doubt that the ordered door was the wrong size, then why did his team remove the original door without re-measuring it in advance! (see attached photo) I have hired another contractor to complete the work and since Summit is refusing to return the other doors I purchased from *** *** ($647-see attached receipts) then I consider that "payment" for the partial work done.

I installed a roof for ***He asked me to install Doors to his vacation homeI told and because it was so far away I wanted $per door because I had to make trips over thereOne trip to measure up the doors the second trip to installDid not want to pay me for two trips so he measured
and ordered the doors himselfI went to *** *** pick these doors upThen me and guys drove the hour-and-a-half thereI get there and the first story went to was too large did not fitThe second door I thought was going to fit which was a large ft wide door plus a side lightWe take out this door that is so rotten it fell apart while removing itwe realized that the framing and everything was rotten underneath the doorKeep in mind *** was standing right there watching everythingSo I had to drive and go get material I spent several hundred dollars on material to fix the RotPlus the labor to do soThen we realize the door is actually an inch taller than the openingSo we had to cut the header or we would end up plywood hang up the store in the middle of February and have to wait weeks to get a new doorSo we cut the header and everythingThree of us were there almost hours working on the doorI charge $an hourPer guy*** was aware of everything that was happening and agreed to pay for the differenceEspecially being on this store it was a special order and they would not return itthe other two doors were something they would return but you just had to wait to get the right the right onesBy this time getting door installed and trimmed on the outside it was very late and we still had the hour-and-a-half trip homeif you would have paid me to come over there and measure up these doors everything would have fit perfectly we would have been in and out of there in less than hours totalSo he then after I got home refuse to pay the difference wanted me to take the two doors that I had that were $a piece doorsTaking back to *** *** so he can get credit then go back to *** *** pick up the new doors that were going to fit drive back over there and install those doors for the price of driving over there once and installing all of the doorsWe still had to retrim out the other door that we installed last time we were theretypically when you pull a door out you can use the same exact room and put it right back on no cutting neededso I refuse to go back over there without him paying me for the additional work and agreeing to pay me for making the second trip over there to install the other two doorsif I could have went over there and installed all the doors and one shot and have them be the right size I would have done it for $a doorbeing I actually have hours of work into installing that one large door and still need to trim it outAs well as replace the two doors that didn't fitthere is no way I am driving back over there cancan installing those doors without the additional payment because he refused to pay me and when I did the roof it took him a month to pay meso if he wants to pay me $a piece for the two doors that still need to be installed and the additional payment on the big door I would have had no problem finishing this jobI got this project from thumbtack a web generating leads servicehe has gone on there several times posting his job and not one person has respondedEvery time he post it I get the lead and do not respond as well as if somebody else responds it shows me that that they did and no one doesMy price was a labor price only included no material at allI have never had a complaint in the pastI have installed thousands of Windows and Doors.

Some of this was discussed on the phone not through provable messagesSo when we discussed doing these doors I told him door because I have to drive over there twiceif I could do it in one tripTurns out I could not do it in one tripThe big door that he probably sent you a picture of not finishedWas a special order door could not be returned it was the right with but turns out it was a inch to tallWhich we did not know until this door was removed when removing the old door the door was so rotten it fell apart and was unable to go back inAs well as he bought this special order door and was now stuck with itSo we did what we could to help him get his house sealed back up and make use of this door that he purchasedThe other doors obviously you didn't fit and would have to make a second tripAs we discussed on the phone it was or because I had to make trips one to measure in one to install which is pretty much what I had to do because I drove over there the doors didn't fit I had to tell him the measurements of the door and then drive back over there so that would be $a doorWe showed up there a little before in the morning we never left there till almost at nightSo no I am not trying to charge him for travel timeI had to spend my time and money on material and pay to employees to come over there for a dayHe thinks that I should just eat that cost give him back his doors and be out almost $1, I have have told him at least times if he wants to do as we discussed when I was over there I would be glad to come over there and install those doors but he needs to pay me prior to doing it because of what he did when I did his roofit's not like you stopped right in the middle of a project and write up a contract you need to put things back together we discussed it verballywe were right in the middle of this in the middle of winter with his house wide open it's not like I'm going to go home write up a contract have him sign it then go back and finish the work so that way there it's all in contract it doesn't work like that you have to consider all of the situationbut yes if I could have gone over there pop these doors in one shot they were the right size it would have been adore plus the cost of material and labor to fix any rotthatwas unforeseen.?
