Summitt Energy LP Reviews (14)

As someone who has not purchased electricity from anyone other than my local hydro company, I was not expecting any additional charges on my hydro bill once I signed up with SummittThe contract specifies that the "Commodity Price does not include the Global Adjustment charge or any other additional charges", but the sales representative did not address this with me, neither did the individual who confirmed my contract by phoneI understand now that these additional charges are beyond Summitt's control, however these possible charges were never (let alone adequately) discussed with me and so I was not able to provide informed consent when I signed the contractConsequently our hydro bill is double what it used to beI have emailed Summitt to cancel my contract, as I would rather pay the cancellation fee then have to continuously overpay for hydroI expect that I will run in to further problems as I try to cancel - I will mostly likely to be sent to collections based on all of the other reviews I've seen [redacted]

We recently moved to Brampton About a week after we moved in - on a Sunday - a man from Summitt Home Services visited our new home He gave the impression that his company owned our hot water heater We purchased a resale home and were aware of the rental but not the company it belonged to He came into our house and promised us a free new water heater and a subsequent rebate on our insurance When I called the company today, they only admitted to not owning the water heater after I pressed them several times I am simply livid that this type of misrepresentation and unethical behaviour exists

Worst customer serviceNo management that you can talk toDifferent agent with a different answerCalled in early in the morning for no hot water and a year old son just had surgery which requires cleaningThe technician came the next day and couldn't fix it and has to come back againFinally, tech came back the following day and changed the control unitCalled customer care and asked for a manager to file a complaint but was told none available and took my number insteadReceived a call at around 8pm from an administrator offered no help or some kind of billing adjustment for equipment failureBy the way, the tank is less than years old and they replaced the exhaust motor six months after it was installedVery disappointed!

after I had moved out of province after school, I notified them of my moving and was not told that I needed to send a letter or document to prove I moved into a new address in order to waive the cancellation feeAfter more than years of being in a new province, I was notified that I was sent into collections ayear ago and owe them over $1000!
Summitt Energy first tricks people into signing contracts for years, then doesnt tell them of the cancellation fee and later on doesnt notify customers on how to avoid cancellation fees until it's too late

IN 2008, SUMMIT ENERGY CALLED THE OWNER OF THE BUSINESS IN ORDER TO PROPOSE A SUBSTANCIAL REDUCTION IN NATURAL GAS PRICES..THE WAY THE SALES REPPRESENTED IT; WAS IN NO WAY WHAT IT ENDED UP BEING CHARGED; HE GOT HIM TO CALCULATE THE TOTAL COST OF HIS BILL (IN CENTS/M3) AND THEN TOLD HIM HE WOULD PAY HALF THAT
LAST WEEK DEC2016! : I WANTED TO VERIFY IF OUR NEW FURNACE INSTALLATION WAS AS EFFICIENT AS STATED; I CAME UPON THE PRICE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OUR TWO METERS/ACCOUNT #..:SO I ENDED UP CALLING GAZ METRO ABOUT THAT, THEY TOLD ME ABOUT THE CONTRACT WITH SUMMIT, I CALLED THEM AND THEN THEIR RESPONSE AS TO WHY WE HAD PAID 2X THE AMOUNT GAZ METRO WAS CHARGING WAS: WE CALLED SEVERAL TIMES TO OFFER TO RENEW YOUR CONTRACT FOR ADVANTAGEOUS PRICES...LIKE IN 2012! WE NEVER RECEIVED CALLS FROM THEM AND NOW WE ARE MORE THAN AWARE OF THEIR ***

WowThe guy at my door was so rudeI told him I wasn't getting my bill for him and he became very rude and actually raised his voice and started spewing *** about being ok paying increases

I had a horrible experience with a rep from Summit Energy last night. My door was unlocked as I was still waiting for my husband to come home, and this man walked right into my living room shouting that he's "not here to sell anything". As a relatively young woman, home alone, this was an incredibly intimidating and terrifying experience that made me feel incredibly vulnerable. This man then proceeded to claim that I was too young to be a homeowner and asked to speak to my parents (we're in our late 20s and own our home). When I refused to show him my hydro bills (which contain confidential financial information), he continued to yell at me and refused to leave my home. I was eventually able to usher him out the door, but will be calling the police if they return.

Summit Energy: Don't know who owns this business but it is a [redacted]. Will never deal with them again - EVER !

The contract specifies that the "Commodity Price does not include the Global Adjustment charge or any other additional charges", but the sales representative did not address this with me, neither did the individual who confirmed my contract by phone. I understand now that these additional charges are beyond Summitt's control, however these possible charges were never (let alone adequately) discussed with me and so I was not able to provide informed consent when I signed the contract. Consequently our hydro bill is double what it used to be. I have emailed Summitt to cancel my contract, as I would rather pay the cancellation fee then have to continuously overpay for hydro. I expect that I will run in to further problems as I try to cancel - I will mostly likely to be sent to collections based on all of the other reviews I've seen. [redacted]

after I had moved out of province after school, I notified them of my moving and was not told that I needed to send a letter or document to prove I moved into a new address in order to waive the cancellation fee. After more than 6 years of being in a new province, I was notified that I was sent into collections ayear ago and owe them over $1000!
Summitt Energy first tricks people into signing contracts for 5 years, then doesnt tell them of the cancellation fee and later on doesnt notify customers on how to avoid cancellation fees until it's too late.

I would never ever recommend you sign up with this company. I did so 2 1/2 years ago and my bills immediately were higher than they had been before. I was told that I would start to feel the affect of this by hanging in there and that about the half way mark I would be paying less than if I had stayed with Toronto Hydro direct. Well that is not happening..at all. My last bill was about 40 bucks higher than it would have been had I been billed directly through Hydro. [redacted]

[redacted] I just got into a verbal confrontation with one at almost 9pm on a Saturday! I informed him you won't get anyone to sign anything in this neighbourhood especially at this time of night. He then proceed to back mouth me and get mouthy, and decided to to me I don't know anything about ARP, whatever that is cause he worked for Summit, because I'm below him and he makes 6 figures which I will never do. So I informed him I the job he does is not paying him 6 figures especially with a mouth and attitude like his. Then continued to be condescending towards me in which I didn't back down cause NO ONE will ever talk to me like that! So, even though I know my complaint won't go anywhere, I will be contacting Summit Energy and having a word with them!

Last night an extremely [redacted], hyper [redacted] and [redacted] mouthed salesman from Summit Energy pounded at our door..He acted like he had a right to tell us what to do. After he left cursing I notified the OPP because there are many elderly people in our neighborhood who I felt might be intimidated by his domineering overly [redacted] manner and language. The OPP seemed to be well aware of this company's reputation and immediately sent an officer around to talk to this young "salesman," who I think decided to try his tactics in another town. If these characters appear at your door simply dial 911 if they refuse to leave.
