I visited Mr. Guevara's office on 3-1-16 regarding some skin lesions. Upon entering the office I was told that one has to prepay before seeing the doctor. I told them that most businesses when doing a job are not paid until the job is done. The receptionists at the front office appeared very condescending and to a certain point arrogant in upholding this policy. I told them I would pay them after the doctor finishes seeing me. They kept on telling me that this would not be possible. I asked to speak to the doctor which the receptionists did not allow me to do so. They kept on saying that in order for me to speak to the doctor about this policy and enter their "golden area" I had to prepay first. I then asked how long the doctor takes to see a patient for at times a patient has to wait for a doctor an unreasonable amount of time that forces a patient to leave and the receptionists could not answer the question. It is a simple process that one pays for when one receives service. And I have insurance and still I was denied admittance. The receptionists kept on saying nonchalantly they would be happy to cancel my appointment and that I could leave. At times I wonder if discrimination is involved since I am Hispanic, but I am still looking into this matter. I have never been denied admittance due to a payment issue in my life. This was embarrassing to me and it makes you wonder what has happened to a doctor's Hippocratic Oath of making the patient of paramount importance.
