weather "cancelled" our initial reservationHere's the final e-mail message I sent yesterday offering a refundShe did not respondShe filed this complaint insteadIt's rather puzzlingWe've been in business for yrsand have never had this kind of difficulty to deal with and that's saying a lot, when talking of thousands of guests from around the globeHonestly, I'm not sure what else we could have done to accommodate herThis is a copy of the e-mail sent 1/20/14, in response to her message, which was mean spirited and confrontational, in our humble opinion:"I’m sorry to hear your perspective Laura that my explanation is absurdFirstly, the weather “cancelled” your reservation; not meYou agreed with this assessment at the time, from memoryDid you want to ride in inclement weather? Is that safe? Secondly the business loses money in several regards, which should be apparent if one knows how a business runsI did offer alternatives, but perhaps not Fruita specificallyI may have been confused on that point, between numerous communicationsI apologize for thatI know Fruita women’s programs were initially inquired aboutI did offer fat biking and snowshoeing this winter and that is “ethical”
I offered you a half price rate, which is thoughtful in my humble opinion
The policy is crystal clear and noted “non-refundable” and “No refunds” (on the Confirmation form)I've needed to institute this policy Cancellations damage the business in several regards, of which I don’t need to get into hereLike many hotels (of which was my profession for years) and outfitters, this is standard policySun Dog Athletics couldn’t be in business for years without certain policies and ethics; especially in a small townI don’t appreciate my ethics called into question
Since the means so much to you and I don’t need any further negativity, I’ll send you a check minus costs, if you provide a current mailing address.Processing credit card refunds costs the business in a few waysI have lost money on this; regardless of the outcome (and apparently that’s not your concern)
