Sun In My Belly Catering

The only negativity around my wedding came from my poor experience with the event manager/coordinator, Marissa J***, and owner of Sun on My Belly, Max L***I am still bewildered by their poor communication and lack of customer service I received working with them as my wedding coordinator and catering service in August
It began after our initial tasting in MayIt took me three weeks of emails and phone messages to get a panicked response from the owner who made poor excuses and overshared personal information blaming the manager's divorce for the company's total lack of response The poor communication and many errors continued leading up to the event The coordinator would schedule phone calls and then NEVER bother to call me or follow up to rescheduleIt was so bad days before the wedding I still didn't have an accurate contract or correct seating chart and the owner assured me he would be personally attending my wedding to make sure everything went smoothly He did NOT bother attending the wedding or communicating with me that he had fallen back on his assurances
The coordinator did not contact any of my venders before the wedding as outlined in the contract She was late to the rehearsal and most of the bridesmaids said she was promoting them to walk too soon As the bride I had no guidance on when to start walking down the aisle as I was coming from a different direction and couldn't see the processional The event coordinator was given the MC schedule but didn't have it on her to prompt the wedding party as they were announced
The coordinator assured both myself and the groom she would be packing up cake and some of the food for us to enjoy after the wedding (this was also outlined in our contract) For this reason, neither of us had any of our wedding cake To know my husband is to understand the carrot cake was the most exciting part of the wedding to him I called, emailed and texted the coordinator the day after the wedding trying to track down the cake for him Two days later I contacted the owner who has still NEVER apologized to me for the poor experience and told me the cake and food was stored in their catering refrigerator At that point we had left for our honeymoon and neither of us ever had our wedding cake
The props for the photo booth were never placed on the prop table; they were left next to (awaiting tablecloth) and mysteriously disappeared from the venue We've emailed the coordinator about the disappearance with no response Makes me question the storage unit she says she kept for leftover wedding supplies
The best decision I made was to stop waiting on the coordinator to made a "customized master timeline and layout of the wedding weekend" and "coordinate reception timeline." The band helped me immensely with this Other duties from the contract that were not preformed: manager didn't tip out the venders/ distribute final payment, assist photographer with family portraits, or safeguard wedding gifts into the appropriate family members vehicle
They served "Deer Park" bottled water rather than the "SMB" bottled water
Most guest didn't realize the bar was serving hard alcohol as it was stashed behind the bar
All of this said, the restaurant is great and luckily so was the food itself at the wedding The waitstaff and bar tenders were delightful Unfortunately it was the lack of ability as a coordinator that made the entire wedding process more stressful than it needed to be I feel like the poor management comes from the top and the wedding coordinator doesn't have the time or skills to coordinate big events She would be perfectly capable of just heading up the kitchen service and h***tly they should stop offering coordination as a service I would feel less salty if I received an apology or even acknowledgment of the poor experience from the manager and owner
