I am the new owner of Sun King Fencing and Gates This complaint stems from a fence that was installed before I took over, but, as the new owner I feel a strong obligation to make sure any Sun King customer is satisfied with any project that has Sun King's name on it The previous owner,
***, remains with the company part-time and is as committed as I am to honoring our warranty and assuring customer satisfaction He and I both feel this complaint was a bit premature in that sometimes rust issues are a process to determine the best remedy We need to determine if the problem is with the paint, with the caulking or with another part of the wrought iron fabrication.The first part of the process is for us to look at the issue and then for our fabricator to remedy the issue In this case, the fabricator felt that only touching up the affected rust spots with paint was necessary The customer speculates that what we did was not enough and anticipates the return of the rust Prior to this complaint, I had assigned a day for the fabricator to re-inspect the fence and see whether the touching up had solved the problem If not, we would take the next step in the process.Regardless of this complaint, it is my intention to see to it that this customer is satisfied and we will fix the problem, if he allows us to We can certainly assure him, though, that we do not use recycled steel Bottom line is we have every intention of making this right if he'll allow us to go through the process

When this gate was installed several years ago, the buyer was given a two-year warranty.  I purchased the business from [redacted] two and a half years ago, and until two days ago had never heard from this customer.  I had no obligation to even look at the gate, but I did even telling her if it...

was something I could fix, I would.  Unfortunately, it was obvious when I looked at it, that someone who didn't know what he/she was doing had messed with the J bolt hinges and a more major repair was necessary.  I discussed it with my fabricator and showed him pictures (he has been with the company almost twenty years).  He knew he had not adjusted the gate because when he does, he repaints the hinges the same color as the gate iron, and the paint was totally off the hinges.  Again, we honor our two-year warranty and the gate is well out of warranty so we did offer to repair the gate, but at the customer's expense. The customer, in writing, told me that if I didn't repair the gate for free, she would complain to the Revdex.com and Yelp and remove us from a community recommendation publication.  I never told her she would hear from my attorney.  What I specifically said was that I would forward any further communication/complaints to my attorney.  In writing, it appears she committed blackmail/extortion, by threatening my business/livelihood if I didn't pay for a free gate repair.  The purpose of forwarding her communication to my attorney is to look into filing criminal charges.
