Sun Mountain Reviews (6)

As the first reviewer, we too have had a very negative experience with "Sun Mountain Doors"We recently built a home, using exclusively doors made by Sun MountainI will say, the doors are beautiful, but they also came with a hefty price tagThinking this was a fine crafted product, we were more than willing to pay the priceBut as soon as the doors began to be installed, we knew we were in troubleOur first concern was the windowed, double doors, in the master bedroomFrom the very onset they didn't fit properly and were incredibly hard to openOur builder sanded, planed, and tried several times to correct the situation, but without successSun Mountain sent out a regional manager which at the time made us feel quite hopeful that these doors would soon work well but that hope was definitely short lived and turned out to be merely wordsDuring his visit, he blamed the difficulty of opening the doors on our architect and builder, because they had not built a sufficient over hang to protect the doors from moisture, thus causing them to warp(He said nothing about miscalculations in door measurements, which was suspected) Plus, at that point in time, we were still in the construction phase and the doors were only a few weeks old and no rain had fallen and no warping had occurred, to our knowledgeThen came the guest bathroom door it broke apart, shattering the embedded full length mirror on the interior sideAgain, Sun Mountain was notifiedWe were told it was our fault, as our home didn't have enough humidityUpon that suggestion, we installed a complete humidifying systemThey did replace that door, but even after the humidity was in place, our other doors have needed to be repaired and repainted because of the same separation problemIn the interim we were still dealing with our bedroom doorsAfter months of waiting, and having to have a major confrontation with the Colorado office, the regional manager came out againThis time he manipulated the doors somewhat, putting on the new $weather strip we purchased from Sun Mountain (the other had deteriorated after about six months) and then we were told that the weather had damaged the doors beyond hopeBy that time we had learned the window recesses on each door "had never been factory sealed" and now the water had indeed seeped between the glass and wood, damaging the doorsBut again this was not Sun Mountains responsibility it was our painters fault, because he should have sealed those internal crevasses (on all external doors) before paintingWe have barely lived in our home a year and our door saga continuesSun Mountain has denied any responsibility and we are left to our own devisesBut perhaps the worst part of all this, is the contemptuous demeanor of this companyAfter paying literally thousands and thousands of dollars for doors and then experiencing Sun Mountains questionable service, we have become very disillusioned with a company that at one time seemed to have the finest products available

Revdex.com: Our company has filed legal action against [redacted] We do not need the Revdex.com to arbitrate our disagreement.** [redacted]

Sun Mountain did our front doors, which were great quality but the sales person coordinating the job was unprofessional and rudeThe VP got involved and apologized for the sales person's attitudeWe decided to try them again because the doors were good qualityThe VP set up another sales person to coordinate the jobWe arranged an appointment in mid morning( to avoid traffic for the sales person) for two large doors(front and oversized patio)The sales person cancelled the day of due to weather...very minimal snow, but coldHowever, all business, schools and hospitals were open, and our other sub contractors were still able to still arrive on time to the jobWe reached out to the VP to let him know another disappointment by his sales staffVP was cordial by the statement, "thank you for thinking of us" but no attempt to rectify the situationOverall, nice doors, but plenty of other companies to deliver nice doors AND outstanding service, especially at the price spent for nice custom doorsIt is worth the time to look around for a better caliber of service

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: [redacted] is one of many faces Sun MountainIt could very well be true that ed never tried to abuse or deceive me and that he decided to initially respond without first understanding the situation while naturally leveraging his misunderstanding to Sun Mountain's advantageThe sales person that lied about the manufacture and quality of the doors was [redacted] in sales, as can be seen in the email referenced previouslyThe person that called my attorney in a rage and did make abusive statements was Thad Walton, the VP of Sales (his position is according to online information) The consumer protection laws don't offer leniency in cases where the sales department is the only entity within a company that engages in bad faith conduct Regards, [redacted]

[redacted] Please find below email that I received from my attorney which relays a message left by Thad with Sun Mountain where he fabricates a discussion prior to my purchase that never took placeThe only exchange that did take place was in the email thread with [redacted] Gruignard that I have already submittedI paid my lawyer standard rates to deal with this and other accusations and bad faith conduct which Sun Mountain has engaged in throughout the course of this ordeal.Regards,***On Tuesday, March 18, 3:PM, Anne XXXXXX wrote:***,I did receive a message from Thad with Sun Mountain He left a lengthy message and was so fluster [redacted] and angry that he left an incorrect initially telephone number I did return his telephone call to inquire about obtaining a copy of a "sign [redacted] contract" that he referenced and I left a message for him to simply return my telephone call but have not heard back as of yet.In his message, he acknowl**g [redacted] that there was a discussion regarding the higher quality non- [redacted] *** These non- [redacted] were 3/inch and were approximately $600-$per door He indicated that you specifically want [redacted] a 3/inch door and although he understood you didn't want the [redacted] that you "were box [redacted] in" a less expensive lower quality door to get a 3/door
