I am forwarding the PSC complaint which was filed by Heather and the PSC response.As stated in the PSC complaint, SPU re-read the meter, and tested the meterBoth steps confirmed the meter reading was accurateSPU had an Energy Services Rep visit Heather’s home and only identified one wall unit
heater, and one baseboard heater in the bathroomIt is possible to consume the kwh billed if the heaters were on 24/7, but this is not likelyWe identified that the energy went through the meter, but could not conclude how kwh was consumed unless a heater was left on. My last conversation with Heather was February Within this conversation we both agreed that she cannot dispute the energy was recorded through the meter, but SPU cannot identify what would have used this amount of energyWe agreed that the difference in usage was around kwhAs a goodwill gesture, I offered that SPU would do a one-time credit for kwh, essentially spitting the difference with herShe agreed and thanked meSPU credited her account for $on Feb 3, leaving her a balance owed of $It is SPU’s stance that this matter is resolved to the customer’s satisfaction and closed. I live in a studio apartment that is smaller than square feetMy electric bill has never been more than $and changeMy last bill was over $I have complied with every request made by Sun Prairie utilities while they tried to figure out what caused the spike in usageNO ONE can figure it out and I did not use the electricity that incurred this ridiculously high billI was told that the electricity was used and I am responsible for the paymentI have no way to prove that I did not use this electricityI cannot dispute the charge beyond this, and I have to pay for the over $mistake made by Sun Prairie UtilitiesThey said they cannot adjust the bill, per state lawAnd there is nothing that can be done about this
