Last Wednesday, August 12, my son took his truck there to have the front end alignment checked and he also asked that they check the lug nuts and inflationWe requested that the lug nuts be checked because we had replaced the brake pads and installed spring spacers on the front two wheels
We were leaving for LaGrange College as soon as the work was completed because he had to be there to chefor football camp on Thursday at 9am
When he picked up the truck he asked if the lug nuts and tire inflation had been checked and he was assured by a Sun Tire employee,***, that they hadHis comment according to my son was that those items were done as a matter of course*** denies that he was asked about the lug nuts
We left for Lagrange, GA and just south of Tifton, GA the drivers side wheel vibrated for less than seconds and then came off the truck
My son safely steered the truck to the inside shoulder of I-N and brought it to a stopThe loose wheel bounded
over the dividing wall between the northbound and southbound lanes of I-and narrowly missed all oncoming vehicles as it bounced across all lanes of traffic at mph
Thankfully no one was injured and there was only minor damage to my son's truck
However, there was major trauma to my, my son's, and my wife's nerves as all of this played outMy Wife was following in another vehicleI was in the truck with my son

I went to Sun Tire on Racetrack today with my wife seeking reimbursement for the reasonable repair expenses and towing charges along with the second night's hotel room, food, and fuel expense required to retrieve the repaired truck the next dayWe were planning to return home Wednesday evening
Jay at Sun Tire REFUSES to accept any responsibility in the potentially fatal accidentI will never do business with ANY location of Sun Tire ever again and I will also recommend that no one else does either

[redacted] had called our store on April 20th, 2015 to inquire on a set of
tires for for his Nissan Pathfinder and my employee [redacted]...
took
the call. The customer was looking for the tire size of P245/75R16's.
[redacted] gave the customer a quote for our private label Delta
Sierradial A/S tires with an out the door price of $449.40. The customer
asked if we had anything that would be more name recognizable like
Uniroyal tires and [redacted] quoted out the Uniroyal Laredo's at $534.96
out the door. The customer said he wanted to go with the Uniroyal tires
so [redacted] had the Uniroyal tires delivered and set an appointment for
the customer.
When the customer arrived at the
store the customer wanted to know if we could give him an oil change or
an alignment for free to go with the tires but we had already given him
our best deal for the tires so adding anything else at no cost was
unable to happen, but the customer did add an oil change so we gave him
our coupon price. The customer's went for a walk while the work was
being performed and when they returned at about 6:05 P.M. they said
that we were overcharging them for the Uniroyal tires and that they
should have cost $449.40 out the door. Jay the manager tried to explain
that the Uniroyal tires were at $534.96 and the Delta tires were the
ones that would cost $449.40 but the customers said that we were trying
to cheat them out of $85.00 and said that Jay was lying to them. Jay
advised the customers that since it was after closing time and that
since [redacted] could not be reached after hours at the office to try to
remedy this problem, to pay the full amount and that Jay would get in
touch with [redacted] first thing in the morning to see what was quoted
and that if [redacted] had said that the Uniroyal tires were $449.40 that
Jay would refund the difference in price. Here at Sun Tire we take notes
on every single tire call we get that way when situations arise that we
will know what we discussed with the customer. When Jay called this
morning I (Terry Bridges), I checked [redacted]s notes and the pricing
that he had was $449.40 for 4 Delta tires or $534.96 for 4 Uniroyals. So
I told Jay that I would get [redacted] to call Jay when he came in at
8:30 this morning.
[redacted] called Jay and
explained the conversation that he had had with Mr. [redacted] and then
[redacted] called Mr. [redacted] to once again explain that he had quoted 2
different sets of tires and that Mr. [redacted] had picked the more expensive
Uniroyals. The customer was really upset and even admitted to [redacted]
that he knew that he had been quoted 2 different sets of tires but only
wrote down one price in his notes. [redacted] tried to help the customer
and told him that if he still wanted the alignment that our regular
price was $79.99 and that we had a coupon special for $20.00 off and
that he would bring the price all the way down to $39.99 + tax but the
customer declined to have that done.
Around
10:00 this morning Mr. [redacted] called me to see if I could refund the
difference in the cost of the tires and I said that I wouldn't be able
to because of the difference in price and that we would have to sell the
tires below our cost to get to the $449.40 price. I told the customer
again that I was sorry about the situation at hand and also reiterated
that we would deeply discount the alignment for him if he wanted to get
it done. The customer refused and said that he wouldn't ever do business
with Sun Tire again. I told the customer that he had free lifetime
services on his tires (rotating, balancing, flat repairs and pro-rated
road hazard) and that we will still take care of his tires for him at no
charge if he would bring the vehicle back on regular service intervals.
We
always try to do the right thing here at Sun Tire, and if [redacted] had
misquoted the customer or if any of us here at Sun tire misquote we will
make it right with the customer. Unfortunately this was not a misquote.
It was a misunderstanding on the customers part because he didn't write
down both quotes.--
