Sun Valley Appliance Repair

I sent my son to [redacted] to purchase a front door for his home. This [redacted] was unable to have the door in stock so they sent him to an business ,Sun Valley Appliances to get the door. He had the old door with him. The sales person took measurements etc. then stated he would have to special order the door. My son said ok and paid him $375.92 for the door to include shipping costs. The door came in, however it was the wrong door. The door received was for the back not the front as requested. The sales person then stated NO REFUNDS however they did keep the door an gave him a check for $150.00 and would do nothing more. The receipt given him has nothing on it that states no refund. In fact there is little on it, no measurements of any type or serial/product number for the door. This was nothing more out an out theft period. Because of his appearance they felt they could take advantage of him. They still refuse to talk about it. If I had known where they had sent him I would have stopped him. Some of the stores in Sun Valley are not on the up an up in their business, he felt secure as his home is in Sun Valley.Product_Or_Service: Front DoorOrder_Number: [redacted]Desired Settlement A complete refund less the required 15% restocking fee most stores charge on items of this nature. I don't feel that is asking to much. He is a Casino worker( A cook) an this high cost hurt them.Business Response My name is [redacted], I am the store manager and I helped Mr. [redacted] the day he came in the store to purchase the door. He explained to me that he had kicked in his front door because he locked his keys in the house. I took measurements of the door in his truck. The door was 36x76. I did not have the right size door in stock so I called our distributor to see if they had any. They told me for a front door that size it would be 3-4 weeks for delivery. I ask what type of doors they had he told me the only one they had in stock that was the size requested was a back door. I explained this to Mr. [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] asked me if the back door could fit into the front. I informed him that it could but would not fit flush with the out side molding. He told me he could not wait 3-4 weeks and to get the door. At this time I explained to him that if I ordered the door there would be no refund and I wanted to make sure this is what he wanted. The cost of the door to get it to him as fast as possible was $375.92. He said that was fine and paid for the door. When the door arrived I called Mr. [redacted] and told him he could pick it up. Later that day he came to get the door. I loaded the door into his truck. It was then that he told me the door would not work for what he wanted. I asked him why it would not work and he told me that he wanted a front door. I reminded him that the front door would have been another 3-4 weeks on the order and that he had chose to buy the back door. He asked me if there was anything we could do with the door. I told him no that is why with doors we do not over any type of refund. After talking with him about this I told him I would ask that owner what we could do about this. When I talked with [redacted] (the owner) about this he came out to look at the door and talked with Mr. [redacted]. He explained to him that he could still use the door but Mr. [redacted] told him that I ordered the wrong one. I showed him the measurements from the other door and all of the measurements were correct. Mr. [redacted] was aware that the door was a back door not a front door. [redacted] then told him we could give him $150.00 if he did not want the door. We could not give him more do to the fact that is was a speacial order and we may never be able to do anything with it. Mr. [redacted] agreed with [redacted] on this and took a check. Mr. [redacted] or his father have never contacted us regarding this. We still have the door which Mr. [redacted] is more than welcome to come get if he wants it we will not be returning any more money to him. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)First off neither [redacted] or [redacted] know who is who. Now as for them saying they talked a Mr. [redacted] their wrong. I have never been to the store, my stepson [redacted] is the one who went to the store. He stated to me that they never said anything about a no refund on the door, or anything about it being a back door. He said after going home with the door did note the door was for the back. He did go back an talk to [redacted] but the man refused said no refund an walked off. I know nothing about the owner saying anything to [redacted], the only person was [redacted] who is trying to keep his job by lying to cover his poor customer service.. This is Sun Valley the largest mobile home park in the nation. There hundreds if not thousands of the same type home [redacted] has so the door can be re-sold if they put on display. Now they have the door plus almost $200.00 which after the door is re-sold they make well over a 300% profit. Their failure to back their products should be noted. No we don't accept their response their lying so are next step will be to take them to Court as talking has done nothing. We have replaced the door so the home is secure. They are a business in Sun Valley, when I worked for the County Sheriff's office dispatchers would call it Felony Valley among other names for it has the highest crime rate per capita in the nation.
