Sun Valley Solar Solutions

We had our solar installed 7 years ago and financially I have been very happy with it. However now I find that the damage caused by the solar installation is about to cost me more than the entire amount I will save over 20 years. They are dragging their feet about even coming out and inspecting the roof while we have had 3 roofers inspect the house and all say our leaks are obviously caused by the solar installation since that is the only place we have significant leaks. Their contract denies any responsibility after 5 years for the roof and requires the homeowner to pay for removal and reinstall of solar. This all came to light just when we had a contract to sell our house and now the buyer is going to cancel due to all the roof leaks and the unwillingness of the Sun Valley Solar to stand behind our roof. This solar has cost me a sale, solar removal/reinstall and a roof. Would never recommend anyone put solar on a tile roof after this night mare. Solar as it turns out is just a big scam when you factor in all the potential risks and costs.

When my solar system was installed, they only connected one of the two hot water heaters to the Demand Manager. That is poor attention to detail and it caused my demand to exceed my demand limiter setting, resulting in higher utility bills. The most frustrating part is that I first reported problems with the Demand Manager on Jan 2nd and they did not figure out that the second hot water heater was not connected to the DM until March 6th! Another attention to detail problem was that when the system was installed, the solar software wasn’t updated correctly. So even though my solar cells were producing electricity, none of it was connected to the loads. This resulted in my AC units not keeping up with the load on a hot summer day. It took many phone calls to get someone to correct this error later that day.

My salesperson, Kelly O. was excellent. She is very knowledgeable of the system and if it weren’t for her follow through with the issues I had during and after the installation I don’t think many of them would have been corrected and arranged for a gift certificate because of some of the problems. She even replied to some emails on the weekend! Unfortunately, the rest of the Sun Valley team does not have that same attention to detail and work ethic.

Great experience from start to finish

Every step of the solar process was very professional. I learned of Sun Valley Solar from the radio show "Rosie on the House". Rosie had two recommendations for solar and I listened to both and selected Sun Valley.
The sales process was very informative, answered all my questions, and presented alternatives in a professional manner. At no time did I ever feel pressured. I took a couple of days to decide which option was best for me and we signed the contract.
The installation process was also very professional. The installers were on time, friendly, informative, and very clean. They stacked my excess roof tiles in 4 rows of 5 tiles each, neatly and out of sight, in my backyard.
The only part of my solar experience I can't comment on is the effectiveness of the system. I switched my system on 5 days ago so I waiting for my first APS bill to evaluate the efficiency of the solar panels and the total system.

Our Glendale, AZ solar system has been running for 5 weeks. We couldn't be happier! We did lots of research and narrowed our choices down to 4 companies. Sun Valley wasn't the cheapest quote. But, they were the most knowledgeable and professional. They also use the highest quality components.
Kelly O'***, our sales representative, really knew her stuff. She promptly and patiently answered all of our MANY questions. Kelly was never high pressure and offered solid advice and came up with multiple recommendations to help us settle on the best system for our situation.
After selecting Sun Valley, we were transitioned to Kaleina, our Project Manager. She kept everything moving forward and made certain we understood the entire process and time frame. There are lots of steps...planning, utility company registration, HOA approval, installation, inspections, commissioning, etc... I have to admit, everything was pleasantly easy and ahead of schedule.
We had the hardest working, most polite, and NEAT installation team. Jose, Mariano, Gus, and Josh were cheerful and NEVER had a negative word about the awful heat or my BIG 2 day installation. They all believe in solar and are very happy they work for Sun Valley. All of them are happy, long term, dedicated employees.
My daughter lives in the house and LOVED her first electric bill that had the entire cycle on solar! We wish Sun Valley worked in Southern California, so we could have our house done by them.
If you're ready to go solar, contact Sun Valley. We are confident we had the BEST company and have no regrets or misgivings. They are well established and in it for the long haul.

Not a single item has gone correctly from Sales to Final turn-on.

Sales mis-represented the scope of what could and couldn't be controlled by their demand manager. Rather than admit fault, project management decided to deal in mis-information and lies before being caught out. I eventually got what I was sold installed after far too much resistance.

During the entire installation there was zero communication as to when people were showing up or leaving, at one point our garage was left open for hours because the contractor didn't tell us they had left.

At the end of it all, by first SRP bill is 1/3rd over what it should be because they installed the demand manager wrong, and doesn't know how much electricity is being demanded. Another visit is scheduled to correct this (who knows when).

Go elsewhere with your money!

I was very happy with the service, pricing and timeliness of my new utility tied solar system which included (2) LG RESU 9.8kW batteries for storage, peaks shaving and backup..
Sun Valley Solar Solutions took care of every little detail. From the sales department to the technicians performing the install top notch work was performed. The site evaluation was informative and when it was done I felt strongly I had picked the rite company for the job. Permits was a breeze they took care of all the paper work. I signed a few docs online and then was able to keep track of the progress with the emails and phone calls from the installer, Then when time to turn my system on they performed a very comprehensive walkthrough of the system and all it operations. Safety protocol was followed from start to finish. The best part I am making power, great warranty with an established company that will be in business for many years to come.

Sun Valley Solar Solutions was excellent to work with. They were extremely knowledgeable and ready to respond to all our questions and concerns throughout the process. They were also extremely low-pressure as far as selling us our solar system. We practically had to beg our rep (Tom L) to sell us a system! Tom was a pleasure to work with. They know their stuff and are very professional in their dealings with us. They have a superior reputation and we were glad to choose them as our solar system provider.

I selected Sun Valley after looking at two other companies including the national leader. I was 100% satisfied with the choice. The sales rep was highly knowledgeable, offered no pressure and provided good technical information which I was looking for. I was treated as a knowledgeable buyer. My inverter went out August 2017. It's been three months and they keep giving me the run around. They told me corporate sent the wrong part and they had to send it back. Now it seems they're fussing back and forth with corperate to get the right part and can't give me a time for repair.

We recently had Solar Panel Installation on our home. It was such a wonderful experience. They were prompt and courteous. When they left our home it was neat and tidy. We would recommend them!

My experience with Sun Valley Solar was good. They guided me through every step of the way, and answered all my questions very quickly and thoroughly. I had reviewed two other companies before I had chosen Sun Valley Solar, and felt they were my best choice.

The nature of this complaint derives from significant financial damages arising from gross negligence and incompetence. The solar system was installed on 12/5/2016 and was commissioned on 12/21/2016. The system produced solar power as expected until 2/9/2017 as shown from the included monitoring system charts.

From 2/10/2017 until 4/30/2017 the system went down and didn’t collect any solar power. A technician came out in late April pulled a bunch of new wires to the roof for the system but was unable to restore power to the system. He told me that an entire crew would be needed to come out and fix the wires used in the original installation.

The crew arrived on 5/1/2017 and they were able to restore power to the system right about lunchtime. They told me that the technician that came out earlier didn’t know what he was doing and that the problem was with the Solar Edge inverter. Remotely, a new firmware was pushed to the inverter although; I was told that the firmware update failed and shortly after that (lunchtime 5/3/2017) the system went down again.

Another technician came out on 5/5/2017 to manually update the inverter firmware. The firmware update didn’t fix the problem although; additional trouble shooting the technician was able to disconnect half of the solar panels and power up the other half. This proved that the inverter was completely functional the whole time and that the problem is in the system wiring as stated by the first technician.

From SVSS’s “Monthly Energy Consumption & Solar Production” chart given to me it is easy to compare the expected production to what the actual production reported by the system monitor to determine the loss due to the system outages.
