Sun West Pools The Cool Deck Company Reviews (12)

Spoke with SunWest Pools on the phone about a job to grind clean a small cool-deck surface on my back patioThis was to ready the surface to accept a new layer of porcelain brick-like tileAfter discussing details, I agreed to price as well as timeline for start and length of job I was assured there were plenty of crews all over the valley, and they did this kind of thing all the timeI was given a start date and timeOn the morning of the proposed job, the start time "window" (8-9a.m.) came and went; at 9:I called the contact to ask when the crew would be comingI was informed that the job would NOT be done that day due to heavy rain all overWhen I told the rep MY area was bone-dry, I was informed that his boss told him NOT to send a crew, as it was a long way to go if they had to just turn around and come back due to rainBesides, he said, the second company couldn't do their job if the surface was all wetIt certainly is NOT a reasonable business practice to NOT perform YOUR job because you think the NEXT guy won't be able to do HIS part! SunWest Pools told me that, due to the forecast for more rain, there was no way to predict when the job might actually get donewe'd all just have to see what the skies looked like in days to comeI paid 50% up front with a card, but never received any proposal (except verbal)Needless to say, when you have arranged to have multiple companies perform services, piggy-back to one another, and the first guy no-shows, you spend an inordinate amount of time scrambling to move the puzzle pieces around! In several phone calls, there was NEVER any sense that SunWest Pools was apologetic for their lack of courtesy to apprise me of their intent to no-showI demanded my pre-payment back, and they've compliedI will hire another company for the job, and I'm confident that even if weather is a POSSIBLE factor, I will be taken care of properlyBy the way, my home area was completely dry the entire day of the proposed jobIf SunWest Pools had called me the morning of the job, as agreed, they could EASILY have sent the crew!

This company is completely disorganized and do messy less than par work
There are other good companies out there that do what they say they will and don't mess everything up They put lazy thin coat down on our cool deck and got paint on places it should not have been rein our pool and all over our solar cover, and failed to get the paint in many spots of the actual deckThe old layer of paint clearly showed through in many many spots If you go with them, good luck!??

I called this company to fix cracks on my patio from settling and to apply cool deck in a flag stone pattern. The job was to start on a Monday morning. I received a call around 9:30am saying no one would be coming as the guy scheduled to do the job had his tools stolen. On Tuesday, same thing - guy had not been able to get all his tools so no one would be coming. I was not happy about this delay and asked for some type of compensation for this inconvenience. The company took $100 off the price and said a different crew would be out on Wednesday. A crew showed up promptly at 8:00am and started the work. They worked for 2 hours and said they would be back in an hour. They came back and did a couple more hours of work and left for the day. The next day they worked for a couple hours and left. I noticed several things I did not like that they had done. There is a small area on the patio right up against the house that doesn't have any product on it. Will this be a potential area where peeling will occur? I hope not. Also the stain that was used to create the flag stone look, has streaking and areas where the stain was not totally wiped off. I sent a text to the young man I had been dealing with along with a picture of the area that didn't have any product on it. As I was leaving for an appointment, two of the crew showed up. I explained what I didn't like, but I'm not sure it was understand due to a language barrier - they spoke very little English and not sure how much they understood. I never heard back from the young man who I had been dealing with. When I returned home from my appointment, the patio was finished and had been sealed. Once seal was applied, I figured now there was no way to correct the problems. Not very happy, but trying to not stress out over something like this as it is not worth the negative impact on my health. I expected the young man who I had been dealing with to stop by for the 2nd half of the money I owed as I was left with the impression he would. He never came by and never called me. I was about to call him when I received an email with an invoice for the final amount, however, the $100 compensation was not deducted. I called the phone number on the invoice and left a message for someone to call me. Never got a call. Instead got an email with a revised invoice amount. I will pay it, but I would not recommend this company to anyone. I wish I had looked at the Revdex.com reviews prior to hiring them. My bad. I have more work that I want done, but I will find someone else to do it. No repeat business for this company from me! This company has terrible communication and lacks quality work. On June 23, 2014, my company, [redacted] agreed to a proposal from Sunwest Kool Deck ("Sunwest") to install 500 sq.ft. of pool decking at our property located at [redacted]. We understood that Sunwest's proposal was competitive.
Sunwest performed the work and presented us with an invoice for $4,000.00 which we paid. We later discovered that the we over paid for the pool decking and could have had the same work performed for approximately $2,000.
When we discovered the that we had been charged about two times the market rate for similar work, I contacted Sunwest for an explanation. Sunwest refused to make any adjustments or refund. We would not do business with Sunwest again as a result of the price charged for the work and its failure to address our concerns in a manner we believe would be satisfactory.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HORRIBLE WORK, THEY REPAIRED SOME COOL DECK AROUD MY POOL AND TEXTURED AND PAINTED MY WHOLE BACK PATIO AREA, LARGE AREA, ALMOST $4K IN WORK LAST SUMMER. FIRST PEOPLE WOULD SHOW UP A DAY LATE NO CALLS UNLESS I CALLED THEM, NASTY TXT FROM THERE LEAD WARRANTY GUY WHO SUPPOSILY THEY FIRED. THEY HAD TO COME OUT 3 TIMES TO REPAINT MY PATIO DUE TO COLOR BLEED TROUGH AND HAD TO CHANGE COLORS, ALSO THEY GOT PAINT ALL OVER MY BLOCK WALL AND ROCKS IN THE AREA, AND STEM WALLS ON MY HOUSE. THEY HAD TO REPAINT THOSE AREAS AS WELL, A MONTH AGO I CALLED IN MY COOL DECK THE REPAIRED ALREADY FLAKING OFF, I ASKED TO REDO THE SECTION SINCE THE TEXTURE THEY DID WASNT EVEN CLOSE TO MATCH THEY SAID NO. I HAVE ASKED FOR MY MONEY BACK MANY TIMES, SINCE THEY HAVE A MONEY BACK GAUARNTEE. THE OWNER SAID " YOU HAVE TO GIVE ME EVERY CHANCE TO MAKE IT RIGHT BOTTOM LINE YOUR NOT GETING YOUR MONEY BACK". I NOW HAVE THE SAME AREA THEY JUST REPAIRED FLAKING UP AGAIN. I WONT BE LETING THEM COME SCREW IT UP AGAIN, AND HAVE TO CHAULK IT UP AS A LOSS. DONT USE THIS COMPANY

Service was called, we expressed the poor workmanship and 3 appointments were made to resolve, all 3 appointments were no shows. Company was called and dispute was believed resolved as the payment was refunded. 5 months later I received a bill saying I owed for the full refunded amount, company reported register of contractors said the job was completed satisfactory (this as the payment was refunded) then was told I needed to pay again. Receptionist was only person within company that would communicate with me as no one else would call me back. Cool decking was chipping 3 weeks after job was poorly completed. The concern was made prior to job completion but was just covered up and left, clearly avoiding any resolution/customer service.
