Review: I came to this business to tan indoors for the first time. I explained that I was doing it for health reasons. I was told that I did not need to fill out the intake form about skin type, that I could just "sign my name," because the man at the counter told me that he could simply look at me and see my skin type. After choosing a machine specifically based on mixture of UVA and UVB rays it provides, I was asked, "so, how long do you want to go in?" I explained that I needed guidance on this, because I had never been tanning in a tanning device before, and showed the man behind the counter that my visible skin tone was actually a tan, showing him the white part of my skin below the tan line. He suggested 9 minutes, then 8 when I looked surprised, telling me I could always stop the machine if I "felt hot."He started the machine and I went into the room and undressed. As I got into the machine, I noticed that the directions on it clearly said that people with fair skin who are just starting to tan should not go in for more than 5 minutes at a time, and for people with medium skin, 6 minutes is the initial limit. I immediately went back outside and expressed concern about this.He then explained that those directions are for new bulbs and that the bulbs in this machine are old. He said that 5 minutes in the machine would "do nothing" and that I would not get burnt if I stayed in that particular machine for 8 minutes. I stayed in the machine for the 8 minutes, feeling comfortable. However, I began feeling itchy after I left, and I now have a clear burn. The skin on my abdomen and part of my chest is burnt red and is uncomfortable (the parts that have not been in sun previously). I believe the person at the front desk was clueless at best, uninterested in his job at worst, and irresponsible in any case. I have gotten in touch with the manager and part owner, and although she agreed to give me my money back, her response shows a lack of knowledge of the machine's safety instructions.Desired Settlement: Refund as promised, but also for the owner/manager [redacted] and the employees at the salon to be trained in appropriate use of the machines based on previous tanning and skin type, and for them to be penalized for irresponsibly giving misinformation that blatantly goes against the safety instructions on the machine. I believe that my legal signature does not mean that the employees are completely exempt from giving accurate information about the machines, which is what [redacted] has suggested.

We at Sundaze have also taken the necessary steps to make sure all employees are explaining in better detail the exposure times based on the manufacturer's suggestions.
