Review: My car was towed to this shop by [redacted].They told me that the problem with my car was the catalytic converter. I authorized the repair and when I called to see whether or not the car was ready, they told me that another catalytic converter needed to be replaced and the cost would be double what I had initially authorized. If I had known this total cost in the beginning, I would have donated the car to a charity. I moved the car to a mechanic I trust in my hometown. He told me that In-tune had replaced a catalytic converter near the back of the car that required the least labor when the catalytic converter in the front of the car was clearly leaking and noisy. I called In-tune back and asked for my money back and they refused.Desired Settlement: Refund the cost of the repair $850.00 plus tax = $900.00

Response:

To whom it may concern:

The Business contacted me on 7/24 and provided me a with a refund of $200.

Another possibility they offered was to remove the catalytic converter and provide a refund for the part, but I had already given the car away.

They refused to do anything for me on 7/14.

They were more willing to resolve the problem as a result of [redacted] passing on my complaint to them.

Please let me know if I can provide any more information.

Thanks,

Review: On 11/27/13, I took my car for repair service because it kept shutting off after running for a little while and the engine light was on. I was given a work order #[redacted] for replacement of ignition cassette ($590.00) and spark plug ($24.00) plus labor ($200.00). The total cost paid in cash for this repair was $814.00. After that, the car kept starting and shutting off worse than it was before the repairs. Since it was not safe for me to drive, the service center picked up the car for repair. This time, I was given another work order #[redacted] dated 12/1/13 and was told that the car needed a new fuel pump which they charged me $500 in cash. Again, when I brought the car home, the next day it still kept slowing down after the car reached 2000 rpm and this time the smell of gas was permeating in and outside of the vehicle. Since the car was clearly not safe for me to drive, I took it back and was told this time that they did not change the gasket when they supposedly installed the new fuel pump. It took them one full week to replace the gasket and despite all this, the car still kept shutting off and stalling. Given my frustration, I found another repair service on 1/6/2014 that, within a few hours, uncovered that the ignition cassette that Sunoco said they replaced was defective and the fuel pump was only partially replaced by Sunoco. The new service center pulled out the back seat of the car and showed me what a new fuel pump would look like. They explained to me that a new fuel pump would not be missing a gasket. In addition, they gave me the defective ignition module to take back to Sunoco. This service center charged me $481 to replace the defective ignition cassette with original manufacture part and now my car is running smoothly. When I took the defective part back to Sunoco for a refund, I was told that they cannot and I need to bring it back to them to replace. This is unacceptable considering the health and safety risk Sunoco put upon me not to mention the financial hardship.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund for the defective ignition module including labor - $790.00. At this time, I am not pursuing settlement for the health and safety risk to my life, inconvenience of not having a car to get back and forth to my part-time job, and all other unnecessary repairs (fuel pump, spark plugs - $524). This has cost me a huge financial hardship and am left owing many people that I have had to borrow from to pay for these repairs.

Response:

I attached our warranty that is very clear that customer must return to us for all warranty work they chose to go some where else. Also I did return their money for the defective part so this should be closed. The customer no longer even has the bill since they were given a refund.

Thanks
