Sunset Harbour Reviews (1)

Review: [redacted] & [redacted] Phone ###-###-####/Email [redacted] July *, 2013 Sunset Harbour [redacted] Dear [redacted], When we met with you to book our dinner and you showed us around, you stated that our guests could use the outside deck when I asked about other people getting into our dinner you informed me it would not be possible. During our meeting we spoke to you about [redacted] and her deposit. You informed us that the issue with her deposit was between you and her. Since she did recommend your site that once we paid for our dinner you would send her refund of $2,000.00 to her. You also stated how important the floor plan was and that I would have to get it to you the week before. If your staff would have followed my floor plan the items would have not been stolen from our dinner. We have held this dinner every year for the past 10 years and will continue to have each year. The same guests attend this dinner each year with a few new ones added. We had hoped to make a business connection with you and to use your site every year in the future which you had agreed with. We delivered final payment to you the week before our event along with the floor plan. In the floor plan our door prize tables were set up in our dining room not in the cocktail room as your staff set up. We arrived at 6:15pm and when I spoke to the Manager about the tables not being set up in the dining room as the floor plan listed I was told “I set them up in the other room” I informed her that I wanted them set up in the dining room and was then told “Well they are set up out there” and she walked away. At that point we had no choice but to set our items up on the two (instead of three) tables the staff set up. At 6:50 [redacted] went to [redacted] and asked if he wanted her to move the tables. Considering we had 38 door prizes set on the tables and guests arriving for the cocktail hour at 7pm he did not feel this was an option. We also had two raffle prizes that did not fit on the two tables and your staff informed us to use the tables next to the bar for these items. They were a 50” TV and 3 Coach Pocketbooks. I was busy arranging tables and did not realize that people from the outside area were joining our cocktail hour. In fact someone that knew my husband and some of the other bowlers came over from the other bowling dinner to chat with our people. He did spend enough time with them to inform them that their party was only paying $59.00 per person and that my people were being over charged for the same dinner. People were walking through to use the restrooms, and stopping at the bar for drinks. I did not realize that people were coming into our event all night and not just in the first hour of the event. Our guests noticed people coming in as they were seated for dinner. They met outside people in the bathrooms also. As I gather the information from my guests I realize that your staff did not prevent anyone from entering our dinner. While I was setting up the tables the manager came to me again and said “ Let me tell you how this is going to be done, after the cocktail hour everyone will be seated and will not be allowed to move until we get the dinner orders.”I informed her that usually they sat at their tables and we gave out money which took 45 minutes. At this time they usually took the dinner orders. She stated “After we get the dinner orders you get the microphone and not before” and then she walked away again. Once everyone was seated in the dining room your manager closed down the bar and told them not to serve anyone until she said so. No one could leave their seat or get drinks until your staff took all the food orders. Was this really called for? One of my guests was actually told “GO BACK TO YOUR SEAT NO DRINKS UNTILL WE ARE DONE” by the manager and this was after he placed his dinner order because all the tables were not done giving their orders. I have received nothing but complaints about the way my guests were treated by your staff. They were nasty and did not serve anything to any table besides the food not even water. I was also informed that some of the drinks that were ordered at the bar my guests were told they would have to purchase outside at the other bar and they could not serve them. We paid for an open bar with top shelf liquor my guests should not have paid for any drinks. At 10:45 someone noticed that two of the pocketbooks were stolen from the display. When it was brought to your attention all you did was blame my guests. We informed you that people were coming in and out all night and you told us they were not. The individual that joined the cocktail party from the other dinner was just one of the people allowed into our dinner. Our event was a revolving door for outside people. I know your staff claimed they kept everyone out except our guests but they did not even know who our guests were how were they picking them out of the people entering? At that point I also requested to see the video tape from the camera in the room so that I could find out who stole the pocketbooks. You said that you had to get them from the security company. This should have been a phone call and we should have seen them right away. To this day we have not seen the tapes from that night and no one has been held accountable for the theft. [redacted] also called you back on June [redacted] and spoke to you about getting a copy of the tapes to see who entered the dinner that did not belong to our party. You did try to fend us off by telling us you looked at the tape and you can’t see anything. He then informed you that we wanted to come down and see the tape ourselves. We were hoping to find out who stole the items. You again stated that you will have to get a copy from the security company. Since you knew we wanted to see the tapes why did you not keep a copy for us to view? You also have not returned any calls since June [redacted]. The manager that night in charge of our dinner was so nasty to me let alone my guests and I was the one paying for it. I guess you can’t do much after you pay in advance. As a business person I do not understand why you have ignored phone messages and have not provided the tapes for the past Month. Along with all that went wrong the night of our event you also did not keep your agreement about the $2,000.00 refund for [redacted], therefore she is now calling our house looking for her money. As you stated at our meeting you will be sending her the refund once our dinner was over. We gave you $8,000.00 in good faith to use your site and be treated with respect. Not only were we not treated with respect from your staff, we are not treated with any respect from you. Once our guests were sent to the other bar to purchase drinks you changed our contract agreement. Now to stick us with phone calls from some you owe money to, just increases the insult. Our guests should have never been treated in the manor your staff treated them and we went without service the entire night. It was as though the only thing you paid the staff for was to drop the plates and pick up empties. Nothing else was done. The bar was charging for drinks even though I paid you for an open bar. And this was on top of items being stolen out of our event. This was the worst event we have ever had. And now to be fending off people that you owe money to should never be happening. We have informed [redacted] that you never gave us her money and you told us at the meeting that you would call her and make arrangements with her directly. Apparently you did not do this or she would not be calling us. . Considering the difference in price from the other bowling dinner and ours, the fact that you have not made an attempt to correct the situation with the stolen pocketbooks, or given back the refund money, we are now requesting a full refund for our dinner. We await your response and our refund. This will be posted on [redacted] and every site that gives a review that I can find online by July [redacted]. Sincerely, [redacted] & [redacted]on [redacted]Desired Settlement: Refund check - I feel that this can happen to every event that holds their dinner at this site. People should be award of the way your issues will be handled. As you can see with us and [redacted] just seems to ignore until you go away. This is not the proper way to handle a business issue. The letter attached was sent to the owner in July. We first contacted him in June to discuss the issues. We still have not heard from him.
