I strongly suggest to get a written contract declaring the owner of the body shop has the vehicle to be worked on in his posession and that the contract states exactly what you would be expecting at the end of the signed agreement I strongly urge against a transfer of funds before any work is completed unless it is a stipulation in the written and signed by both parties contract too
This business is a glorified junk yard posing as an auto body repair I was taken advantage of by the owner who gave me an estimate to repair my car that was involved in an accident The owner gave me an estimate to do the work, but ignored several issues the vehicle had He also told me he needed days to fix it, which turned into weeksFinally I was told the vehicle was "Done." While driving home, my front wheel nearly fell off due to them not properly torqueing the wheel down I had to stop and tighten the nuts myself on the side of the road What Body Talk left out...let me drive away with a shot wheel bearing that was destroyed in the accident, a quarter-size hole in the radiator reservoir (so I lost most of the coolant on the way home), an alternator that died after a minute ride home, and a wheel well that fell off on the ride home--it was held in place with a zip tie After getting the vehicle home, I had to have it towed to another facility to get an estimate on what was left out Granted I wanted to get the vehicle back on the road as inexpensively as possible, as it wasn't worth a lot I had to determine at the time of the accident if it was even with fixingBased on Body Talks estimate, it seemed reasonable to do the repairs he quoted However, in the end--and after paying him about what the car was worth to fix it, I ended up having to scrap the car and losing all of my money I called the owner, who refused to do anything He said he did what he quoted, and anything beyond that was my issue to take up with someone else So he lead me to believe he was evaluating the car properly and what it needed to get me back on the road, and neglected to really look at all the issues and give me a reasonable quote Had he done that, and I have an accurate estimate, I would have scrapped the car there and then...but then he wouldn't have gotten paid
