Review: Please see for other experiences...http://www.[redacted]My issue I parked here on the 7th of July in a 10hr parking space I over paid with a $20 bill as I has no 10 dollar bills, I returned 5 hours later to a $30 ticket. Of questionable reasoning no indication why or how I was issued the ticket. I have photo evidence of my parking and paying the $20 bill instead of the posted $10 fee.Desired Settlement: A refund of my fraudulently issued $30 ticket.

Dear Mr. [redacted],

Thank you for taking the time to notify us regarding an issue you experienced at one of our locations. We appreciate your feedback. In your submission you raised the following issue:

You stated you parked in the lot with and paid for $10 parking with a $20 bill. When you came back to your vehicle later that evening you found a parking fee notice on your windshield for failure to pay.

I apologize that you did not have a positive experience in parking at this lot. Our checkers are trained and are generally very thorough in checking the machine accurately before writing any parking fee notices in the case of not clearly see a parking receipt. It is possible that he did make a mistake with the stall number that he checked.

In your complaint, you requested us to clear out the parking fee notice that you received. I would be happy to look into your notice # and clear it out of the system if you could please send me your notice number. Also, with overpaying at the machine, please send over a photo or scanned print out of the receipt and I will be glad to reimburse you the $10 as well. Please contact me via email or by phone if you have any further questions.

Thank you again for your feedback and again sorry for any frustration.

Sincerely,

Director of Surface Lot Operations

Review: I went to a seminar for work in Carmel Valley last week. Because of building construction there was no parking lot and I was forced to valet park my car, this was offered for free. Since this was unexpected and I was running late from driving around looking for a place to park, I gave them my keys and went inside for my seminar. At the end of the day when I came out to get my car, they informed me that they could not find my keys. Thankfully I had a spare set at home and my boyfriend cancelled his plans and came to pick me up. I was unsure if my keys had been lost or if the employee who had full access to my home address on my registration card in the glove box had stolen them. I was told he left early that day and that they were unable to get a hold of the employee. We were scared he had in fact stolen my keys and made note of my home address. I was told by 3 different employees that the company (Sunset Parking) would pay to have my house and car re-keyed to ensure my safety. That same evening we went home and immediately had a locksmith come out and re-key our home, this costed us $200. I got a quote from the Toyota dealership to re-key my car and it will cost $1,250. Unfortunately I don't have that kind of money laying around and will have to wait until they agree to pay it directly to Toyota. Now all of the sudden there is nothing anyone can do to help me and they are refusing to reimburse me for re-keying my house or pay to have my car re-keyed. They obviously do not care about the safety concern they have created.Desired Settlement: I want the company to pay for the cost of re-keying my home and car.

Re: ID# [redacted] Dear Ms. [redacted],

On behalf of Sunset Parking Service, I am receipt of the above-entitled consumer

complaint dated, April29, 2013. The consumer is claiming that Sunset Parking Service

is refusing to reimburse her for re-keying her car and home for an incident of misplaced

keys while in the capacity of valet parking with our company.

In this instance, Sunset Parking is not refusing to reimburse the consumer, but has

actually attempted to make settlement with her. We are offering to reimburse her for the

cost of replacing all the keys that were misplaced. In addition, we have offered to

reimburse the consumer the $200 she is requesting for re-keying her house.

Regarding the consumer's request for reimbursement ofre-keying her car, it has been

confirmed that once a new key is ordered the new key is re-programmed on a new

frequency so that the old key cannot be used on the car. Also, any spare keys are reprogrammed

on the new frequency. We are further offering to reimburse the consumer

for the cost of re-programming both sets of keys.

In consideration of the fact that the keys will be on a new frequency and the old key

cannot be used to access the vehicle, we have found that it is unnecessary to re-key the

car as the new key will maintain the security of the vehicle. However, we understand the

inconvenience this incident has caused the consumer and we are adding an additional

$300 to our settlement offer for the time the consumer has spent mitigating her damages.

At this time we are awaiting a response from the consumer to see if she will accept this

offer. Rest assured that our company takes matters such as this very seriously and a

thorough investigation into the matter has been conducted. If there is anything further

that I can be of assistance with please contact me.

Sincerely

[redacted] Risk Manager

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The statement Sunset Parking made is untrue. They claim that by re-programming the car keys, "the old key cannot be used to access the vehicle" and that "the new key will maintain the security of the vehicle". Both of these statements are false; even if the keys were re-programmed the old key would still provide full access to my vehicle and unlock all of it's doors.

Regards,

Business

Response:

We have discussed the situation with the consumer and have determined that reprogramming her keys alone does not provide complete security to her vehicle. Sunset Parking is offering settlement of reimbursing the consumer for the cost of a new set of keys including reprogramming on a new frequency along with the spare set; the re-keying of her home and the re-keying of her car. The consumer has agreed to this settlement. We are pleased to come to a satisfactory resolution to our valued customer.
