I read the complaint of the customer and here is our response.  First of all, virtually all car service taxi companies on Long Island, particularly those that are based at LIRR stations, are multiple riding taxis.  This causes confusion to some people, particularly residents of NYC where...

NYC Medallion taxis offer exclusive service to one party.  As far as having a meter in the taxi no one has a meter for taxis anywhere on Long Island.   The prices are determined by zones locally and then if it is out of town there is a set price for that town.   The customer should have asked the driver the fare prior to engaging the services of the driver and the option would have been available.  I do not condone the actions of the driver but the minute the passenger stated they would not pay not only does the driver lose his half of the money but he must pay the company its half out of his own pocket. We are sorry for the misunderstanding and I hope this explanation clears up some of the issues what caused the problem.   We would be happy to send the customer a money order for $16.00, half the fare, and hope that the customer is now better informed and confusion would be avoided next time.   Please let me know if this is acceptable and hank you for informing us of this information. Joe F[redacted]General Manager,Lindys Taxi

Review: I called for a cab from Sunset Taxi which is located at the Babylon train station, less than a ten minute drive away, to return to the Babylon station, & the dispatcher said it would be 10-15 minutes, after a half an hour I called again, the dispatcher said the cab was 2 minutes away, I waited another 10 minutes & called, he then said the cab was around the corner, I waited another 10 minutes and he again stated the cab was nearby, nowhere near where he had reported it last time. I waited total OVER ONE HOUR for a cab I was told would take 10-15 minutes and I was repeatedly lied to entire time. This is not the first time this company has done this. People should be made aware how terrible this company is so that they do not have to have this experience. Thank you.Desired Settlement: I want my money back + compensation for the repeated inconveniences.
