Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:I'm sorry I must reject this response again as there is no real option to carry on this discussion otherwise. I understand your position and and respect your desire to stand by your products and services. The quality of which has never been brought into question. However Allow me to explain issue in a manner that illustrates my overall concerns better. The issue at hand arose when a licensed inspection facility damaged the film on my front wind screen and refused to repair it on the grounds that film below the as1 line is illegal. The fact he passed my car for inspection regardless just goes to show that its entirely up to the inspection facility whether they pass it or not. I believe this is often the case in regards to front window tint, barring that it isn't blatantly obvious its to dark. Unfortunately that puts consumers like me in an awkward position. We're stuck with a damaged window that should never have been an issue and told that two different stories by two different entities. Who's right and who's wrong? I made a few calls to various other tinting and inspection places just to be sure and of course the tinting facilities are all to eager to sell me Full front window tint. The inspection places were a little more vague on the subject and wouldn't give me a straight answer. So in order to get a straight answer I called the TX state DPS at [redacted] , where I talked to representative for the vehicle inspections department. Here the representative told me that any film below the as1 line was illegal, and then proceeded to transfer me to the county DPS representative (his name was Ray) where he said that this was indeed the case and that they are looking into getting clear UV film legalized but as of this moment it is not. I encourage you to call them for yourself. The fact that this hasnt been an issue very much in the past is probably a testament to the fact that many inspection facilities probably over look it, or the issue is averted by other means. I too would like to know how people were able to avoid getting their film torn in the process of removing the old inspection stickers. I thank you for your time and hope that we can come to a mutual agreement on the matter, however my time for this response is running out. Regards, [redacted]

Or I've got a new windshieldWe will always do our part to be the best for our customersI'm sorry we cannot help in this situationWe really would recommend doing the things you say you willGetting mad at people and mistreating them, then begging for them to do it for youShe can claim it on her insurance claim, for the windshield replacementWe appreciate all business and have integrity and a track record to back itPlease enjoy the dayOnce again this is not a covered fault for windshieldHer coverage is for the sidesWe can fix that nasty scratch you says been there since you got itIt is covered Thank you

[redacted]Austin Sunshades Window Tinting & Auto Alarms 12217 Roxie Dr. # BAustin TX 78729 Hi there. Yes this is not something we can settle on. Her warranty is for the sides and rear window of the vehicle. The windshield is a different product we offer. That is not covered by the...

same warranty she speaks of. We have taken at least four phone calls over the last three months from this customer.   More like 8 or so. Each time we stated to her to please drive the vehicle over. Last call we took was I am at the dealership. What should I do. What your there to do. Get your window replaced. She wants to manipulate our warranty to cover her windshield she had replaced. It's not part of the coverage. This upset her. We apologized and explained to her with no better understanding.   It is our position to satisfy all customers that are willing to do their part. She did not even try to stop by. The dealership is two blocks from us. Her phone call when we were on the latter as stated. We had no way to schedule her a time. After learning the actual specifics we declined to replace her windshield film under warranty as it was not a fault we cover. We are happy to replace the other Window she has the huge scratch on. It is covered by the no fault protection coverage. She still has not stopped by to discuss the situation. Texting seemed like a better option as speaking was not real easy as she screamed and cried about us doing this to her. We would rather pick us a better customer than deal with her bi polar stance. Kinda scary on the phone. We really don't want that in our store. We tried to understand. Well hope that helps you with this complaint. We do try our hardest in this day to please everyone. Not always possible. We will trade her for a nicer more understanding client. Thanks again. Have a beautiful day!

I am rejecting this response because:After contacting state and county (Travis county) representatives, in regards to the legality of clear window film on the front wind screen, representatives informed me that it is indeed illegal. I understand that certain interpretations of the regulations may say otherwise and indeed many inspectors may overlook the film if they deem it satisfactorily passes the legal amount of light. However the county and state officials being the authority on the matter have given me a definitive answer. I understand that due to the amount of time that was involved in filing this complaint a full refund may be unreasonable, however I feel that an acknowledgement of the issue and a change in the policies of this business to inform their customers that the legality of certain window tints and films may be open for interpretation, is a reasonable request. I feel given those criteria this issue may be resolved.

Hello [redacted], I would like respond respectfully to your complaint. We apologize for any of the inconvenience you may have experienced. As to the legality of windshield filming we have to abide on the same laws the inspection shop must comply too.  I have attached the code you have quoted. I...

promise as we would not go outside these guidelines.  Under the windshield tab section five is the product guideline to notice. We have installed a clear film as legal. I did not look at your vehicle when you came back on this second round 3 years apart. You asked a very specific question as to window film legality on a vehicle. The CXP product has been installed on hundreds of vehicles with no problem. You would also have failed inspections on your vehicle for the last 2-3 years. We would like to help and stand behind our products and business practices. Without the need of a inspection sticker any longer we understand it is a little unsightly.  We will offer to replace the film for half of the cost to do so.  299$ less half   We no longer carry the CXP product for windshields and now carry exclusively the CR 90 Product by 3M for windshields. It offers much better heat reduction and is 100% legal like the CXP film. Once again we apologize for any inconvenience.   We will remove the CXP product at no charge if you like. I apologize as for 3 yrs later we cannot offer a refund.  We hope this helps.
