Sunshine insurance has refused to cancel my deceased mothe's home owners policy and refused to refund premium even after the home was sold
My mother died in July As executor of her estate, I sold her home and contacted Sunshine Insurance to cancel her home owner's policyThey asked for specific documents to support my request including her death certificate and a copy of her will, filed with the Florida Probate court documenting my authority as executorI provided those documentsTheir underwriter, *** *** - ***, refused to cancel the policy or provide a refund demanding rather that the estate hire an attorney and petition the court for a Letter of Testamentary at a cost of over $I have contacted them numerous timesThey committed to get back to me by today, September 7, and have not followed through with that commitment

Sunshine Insurance was the agent for my deceased mother. Upon her death, I sold her mobile home and cancelled her home owners policy with SUnshine Insurance. They asked for specific documents such as death certificate and probated will showing me as the executor. I provided these documents. Sunshine and their underwriter, American Tradition, has now refused to cancel the policy or provide a refund unless I hire an attorney and petition the probate court to read the sentence in the will that names me as executor. This process costs $1200 and was not needed for any other business, state or federal governments to settle aspects of her estate such as social security, transfer titles of mobile home and cars, nor conduct all other business required. I consider these insurance companies to be illegally stealing her premiums and refusing to return phone calls when they commit to.
