Sunshine Spa & Nail Reviews (1)

Review: I have been a customer of Sunshine Spa & Nail for 5 years. During this time, my friends and family have gifted me with certificates for services on numerous occasions. To date, the certificates have never included an expiration date, and I have never had issues redeeming my certificates.I visited the location in May, 2013. During my visit, I was told (in passing) that the ownership had changed. And when I presented my certificate to pay for services, it was accepted without a problem.I visited the location today and when I presented my certificate to pay for services, I was told they could not accept the certificate.I was provided with the following rationale, and provided the respective responses:1. The ownership had changed and they could not accept gift certificates from the previous owner. I told them that I utilized a gift certificate in May under the new ownership, and was not presented with an issue. I also pointed out that since they purchased the business, they assume the liability/outstanding accounts. They were dismissive to this response.2. The gift certificate had expired because it was last used (partially) in August of 2012. I pointed out that the "Expires" line is blank (i.e. there is no explicit expiration), and as such, the certificate is not expired. Again, they were dismissive to this response.I currently have 2 gift certificates with unused funds:1. Gift certificate #[redacted] - total $47 for a manicure and pedicure. I have already used to pedicure service. Under their current pricing ($13 for a manicure, $28 for a pedicure), there is a total of $19 remaining on this certificate for service. Note: no expiration date listed.2. Gift certificate #[redacted] - services for a manicure & pedicure. Note: the certificate does not specify a monetary amount, and the expiration is blank. Based on current pricing (see above), this certificate is valued at $41.Please note: the establishment is still operating under the name "Sunshine Spa & Nails;" I took a photo of the storefront todayDesired Settlement: Given the current practice of the establishment, I do not wish to return. Therefore, I would like a full refund for the remaining balance on my gift certificates:1. #[redacted] - $19. #[redacted] - $41 TOTAL: $60

Business

Response:

I took over the nail salon last May. Now I have new legal name. The customer, who filed complain, brought the gift card issued on August 1012. Therefore, I didn’t accept the gift card.

Because we cleared outstanding accounts with the previous owner as of the end of August, 2013, and this gift card was not included in it.

However, we will accept the gift card which will be brought by our regular customers. I also answered to the customer to come and have service as soon as possible

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The business owner claims that he communicated that the gift certificate could be redeemed, when this was clearly not the case.

Furthermore, I no longer intend to continue to be a customer of this Salon; they were rude and unprofessional, and per this response, dishonest. I do not wish to support their business in the future, and I would be uncomfortable receiving services from them moving forward.

I would like a refund for the services that are outstanding ($60), per my initial request.

I frequented the salon bi-weekly for over 5 years; they have lost a valuable customer, and I will be communicating this issue to my friends and family who are also regular customers.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

Dear [redacted],

This is the response regarding the complaint ID [redacted].

I understand that the customer asked refund for the amount of $60.00. However, we did not sell the gift certificate, because we took over the salon May 2013 and the gift certificate was issued on August 2012. Therefore, we do not have any responsibility to refund.

As I mentioned in my previous response, I can give her the service. Because she was our regular customer.

Ifshe wants to get refund, she needs to contact the previous owner. The information about the previous owner as follows;

Tinkerbell Spa Inc. [redacted]

Regards,

President [redacted]

Pinky Hill Spa Nail Inc.
