Super 8 Motel Downtown

The cleanliness of the room was subpar.On 5/23/14 I checked into Super 8. I was visting Memphis with 7 others for the Memphis in May event. Upon arrival, Mr. [redacted] was unable to find my reservation as it was booked under the name of one of my guests despite my credit card already being charged. (strike one) Once they located my reservation I was given keys to rooms 511 and 513. Upon entering room 511, I noticed that someone had urinated in the toilet, the hall leading to the bathroom had peeling paint and the bathtub was dirty. (strike two) I called to the office to express my concern and they sent someone up right away. She flushed and cleaned the toilet although to the eye it still looked dirty. She said the tub was clean. I showed her the dirt in the tub which was not hard to see. She said, "Thats how it is, It wont get any cleaner." I insisted that she try to clean it anyway. She complied. It still was unclean. Since 513 was an adjoining room, I asked my guests to check their bathroom for cleanliness. It too was unclean so the young lady from the office attempted to clean their bath as well. I told the young lady the room was unacceptable and asked for another room. She had none. I called a few other hotels in the area they were all booked due to the holiday/memphis in may event. We had nowhere else to go so we decided to stay. On 5/24 after purchasing food/drinks, I realized the refrigerator too was unclean. At this point it was to be expected due to previous cleaning issues. Around 9am as my guests and I were preparing to leave for the evening, the power went out. (strike 3) As we were frightenened and attempted to go back in our rooms we were approached by a mane who said he lost a bag of brown stuff and if we saw it, not to worry, "its just hash". We contacted a local police officer described the guy, what he said and to get advice on if we should stay in the room in the dark, head out, or what was safest. He said the rooms were secured with steel doors so no one could break in but he did state that the hotel we were in was known for having a lot of meth users there. We decided to go out for the evening and returned when there was light on the property. I was very unhappy about the cleanliness, safety as well as losing electrical power in the middle of our vacation. I checked out the morning on 5/25. On 5/28, I contacted the Manager, Hetal [redacted] and explained my concern. I asked for a refund. He said no and that, "If I didnt want the room, I should have stayed elsewhere." I explained that he didnt have any other rooms available and neither did anyone else. He said if it was him, he would have asked for a refund that day and he would have given me one. I explained that I was not him. I am the customer and that I needed a refund. My vacation was ruined because I had to stay in a motel that was unclean as well as unsafe.Desired SettlementMy credit card was charged $553.20. I am seeking a partial refund of $276.60. While there were many other concerns with the rooms I am asking for a refund on the unit maily affected.

Checked in to a dirty room with raches on bed and walls. Asked for refund and was told to leave because he was calling police.Tried to check in, hotel is missing portions of the hand rails. AC unit did not work, room smelled like dead rodents, toilet did not flush and sheets where not clean(on fifth floor). After we went in the room I sat on the bed and shook up roaches everywhere. I took photos and all of my stuff to the lobby to show the desk manager. He took my room keys as if he was going to change rooms, I told him he had a dirty hotel, that is when he told me to get off of his property and no refund is given. I told him I wanted my money back and he told me to leave he was calling the police. I had no option to stay but he kept my money. This is an unfair, filthy hotel that is borderline condemable where I am from. I request a full refund, and appology from the desk man in writing for the disrepect he showed me after I told him I had served nearly 10 years in the military. He stated that this is not my country, and our military is nothing.Desired SettlementI want a full refund and written appology to the United States service men and women.
