Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:People are suppose to be able to walk on their roofs. Since when can't a person walk on his roof? We have to walk on our roof from time to time to maintain our swamp cooler. The last roofing material we had we were able to walk on. Sincerely,

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: I did receive the offer letter but I decided to not accept the offer. In order to receive the offer I must sign a confidentiality statement and drop all complaints against Malarkey Roofing Products. I feel as a responsible consumer I want the ability to be able to share how I was treated, lied too, deflected, and given a very low offer to replace their faulty materials to future possible customers. The damage to my complete roof was not caused by the gutter. The loss of granules through out the complete roof is the cause for replacement. When the National Claims Manager did come out to my home he had no intentions of climbing up on the roof to evaluate the damage. ( my roofing company owner came prepared with a ladder ) and asked him to climb up to do a professional evaluation. The claims manager made the comment "that now the roof has a leak" and he was not told this. I started the claim in December and he finally came out to evaluate May after enduring multiple snow storms, rain storms and a hard winter there is more damage now. It has been tarped and waiting for the evaluation from Malarkey Roofing Products for over months. I feel that the decision to our claim was already made before the claims manager even arrived to our home. To walk around a home and take pictures from the ground does not reflect the roof damage. Dealing with Malarkey Roofing Products has been a learning process of how unethical, dishonest and unprofessional of a company it is. I do not recommend them for quality roofing materials.
Sincerely,

I wanted to respond to this complaint. Unfortunately, with travel, it has been difficult. The home was inspected in October, as noted by the homeowner. During the inspection, the roof appeared to be in good condition, except for a few shingles which showed foot traffic, possibly by the roofer or...

someone else. Some foot traffic was noticeable near the ridge, and some other by the condenser. This is not a manufacturing issue, but either an installation issue or other trade that was not familiar with properly walking on roofs.  Thus the issue was denied as a manufacturing defect. Eileen D[redacted]Vice President, Technical Services

Polymer modified shingles are preferred over oxidized shingles in the Colorado area because of the hail resistance. This also makes them more susceptible to foot traffic in warmer weather. To avoid this, walking on the shingles while they are in the shade is preferred. The roofing contractor appears to have done a nice job installing the shingles. There are very few marks on the roof, and in general, the roof looks very nice. I have attached the install photos showing the roof, as well as the areas of foot traffic.

Regarding Complaint ID [redacted], the customer has been authorized a payment and we have agreed to a policy settlement. The customer returned the signed consent on June 20, 2016. We will follow-up with the customer and apologize for the delay.

After reviewing the claim, there was a determination that there was some granule loss on the roof of the house, and a prorated settlement of $801.71 was offered. This is based on the life of the roof, and the maximum dollar amount as offered by our warranty. A downspout drained an upper roof to the lower roof area that was leaking. This is not a good practice. The shop roof did not appear to need any replacement. The shingles from the roof passed our testing, and looked good for a 13 year old roof.

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Sincerely, [redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the...

business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and will wait to see what they offer as a resolution.  I would like to keep my case open until then.  My wife did meet up with the manager of Malarkey's claim department and he personally did the evaluation on our roof.  I do appreciate the fact they owned the way they handled the claim and how there actions were not satisfactory.  The claims manager did apologize for how it was handled and did tell us during the evaluation that somehow they had mixed up the two different roof claims and there was many miscommunications that had occurred.  The roofing company owner (that has helped with our claim ) was there at the time of the evaluation and can verify what was addressed and was told to us at the meeting.
Sincerely,

Revdex.com:
As of May 10, 2018 Malarkey Roofing Products has not given us any updates or answers to our claim.  The last response I sent to Revdex.com I had copy and pasted the email from their National Claims Manager, Bill M[redacted] stating he would give us a response by early this week.  I have not received any updates.  I did leave a message on his business phone.  I would like to move forward on this complaint as this has been going on since December 2017. I feel we have given them a fair amount of time to make their decision. Please advise me on my next step.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

It is our understanding that the complaint has been resolved to homeowner's satisfaction; they have agreed to a settlement. Malarkey always attempts to manufacture material that will last for many years, however, with any manufacturing process, there can be some material that does not install...

properly. This material was confined to one part of the house, but this house had some installation issues as well, with raised nails that caused the shingles not to lay flat. The installer was non-responsive, so Malarkey has decided to bear the entire claim.  Malarkey stands behind its warranties, we feel better than others in the industry. We hope the homeowner is happy with their new roof.
