Originally I brought my mother in for carpet with this company because they came reccomended from a friend. She picked out carpet and pad for her rental and scheduled for field measurements. There were two areas(a bedroom and stairway) that we were unsure if we wanted carpeted and the initial discussion between the employee ([redacted]) and myself was to include them in the estimate and if we didn't want them, we could deduct them from the job. [redacted] said he would call us with an estimate for materials.

After 2-3 days without hearing from him, my mother called to see what was taking so long with the estimate. She spoke to [redacted] and he said he had the proposal ready and would call us back. After about another week with no phone call, I went back to their office to pick up the estimate. I was told [redacted] was on vacation and that they couldn't find the estimate. They offered to start over and I declined because I had another contractor who said he would do the job. A few minutes later I get a phone call from [redacted] saying he contacted us but we never responded back to him (false). We moved on with rennovations but our new contractor had an accident and couldn't do the job, so we decided to give [redacted] a second chance. He said he still had the initial measurements so we scheduled for installation. [redacted] sent us an invoice that unbeknownst by my mother, didn't include the bedroom but did include the stairs (which she declined for carpet). When the workers finished installing and was packing up, my mother questioned the missing carpet in the bedroom and they informed us that it wasn't on the work order. Afterwards I called their office and [redacted] wasn't there. When he called me back he said that I was confused, needed to get on the same page with my mother and if we wanted carpet in the room we should have told him at the time that she cancelled installation for the stairs. I told him that I was standing in the room when he measured the bedroom in which he agreed, but said he did so only to include it if we changed our minds, which frankly, is a bunch of bull and makes absolutely no sense. After arguing back and forth for several minutes, I asked for a price for carpet for the bedroom with installation as soon as possible. He replied that he would have to call me back with pricing and guess what...he didn't.

My main gripe with this ordeal wasn't so much that the carpet wasn't installed as we planned. I'm more furious at the fact that [redacted] (who is part owner of this company) took absolutely no responsibility for his lack of professionalism from the very beginning. No follow up calls in a timely manner, constant excuses for his failures and poor organization skills are not good for business. When a person wants an estimate, it's typical to get a bid on paper but according to [redacted], estimates are verbal only and the only time a customer is to get something in writing is when payment is made? Who does that? Absolutely ridiculous!
