In response to your complaint filed with the Revdex.com, I would first like to apologize for thelengthy repair time on your Dodge CoronetOur primary business and the majority of our incomecomes from insurance work which makes it our priorityRestorations are taken on from time to timenormally with the understanding up front that it will be a lengthy process and that no guaranteed pricecan be given due to the unpredictable issues that arise in classic cars such as rust, prior poor qualityrepair, parts availability, etcWhen the car was dropped off we already had a schedule booked sorepairs were delayedI know ***'s restoration has a standard six month wait before any repairs evenbegin on their carsI apologize if this was not communicated clearly to you when you made initialcontact with Jim regarding the repairsIn regards to the Camero being brought in after your vehicle, theCamero had been scheduled many months before you stopped in with your carWe had to honor thatappointmentI did however, assign a different employee to the Carnero repair.Any time we take on a restoration we normally have the vehicle at least six monthsI do not know if youfully understand the work that goes into a restoration repairWhen we take on a classic car we knowthe car is going to be entered in shows and seen on a large scale so we take pride in providing a highquality repair and refinishWhen you saw the car as simply disassembled, we see many hours that wereput into removing all of the trim, lights, interior, etcso that nothing was damagedWhen you see simplya panel with primer, we see many hours sanding away old paint layers bringing the surface back to aworkable surfaceOnly then do we begin working out imperfections and sanding layer after layer ofbody glaze to get a smooth surface ready for primerOnce we feel the panel is worthy then primer isapplied and normally sanded and reapplied. The first issue that we came upon was the doorsWhen the paint was removed in preparation forprimer we found the doors originally had holes to allow for a moldingThese holes were shaved usingbody filler on the previous repairWe removed the body filler and repaired the molding slots by weldingup the holesThis brings the door back to the same integrity that a factory door non-equipped withmoldings would have hadOnce welded, the grinding, sanding, and glazing process beginsOnly whenthe door repairs meet our quality standard do we prime the panel. The next issue was the hoodA brace had broken loose on the panel causing a separation between theinner structure and the top panel of the hoodThe issue was corrected but caused the panel to needsome outer repairThe panel was blocked, sanded, glazed, sanded again then primedThe roof andtrunk also had some minor imperfections that also required the same repair process. The back panel in the car had fairly significant damage from a prior collision that had been poorlyrepairedThe panel was pushed in and down which made the entire rear end of the car misaligned andheld together using shimsTo correct the issue we first had to cut the inner structure away from thepanel for accessOnce access was gained the panel was rough pulled out to its proper placeFrom therethe art of body repair beganHammering, pulling, smoothing, etc out the back panel to prepare forglazeOnce the panel is straighten back with no major defects, glaze is applied and the entire sanding, glazing, and priming process begins on that panelThis panel alone took significant time because it isone of the most important repairs we completed on this car to insure a proper fn on the trunk, lights, quarters, bumper, etc.As you were told prior to the beginning of any repairs the quarter panels had some issuesThe quartershad been installed with very poor workmanship leaving large thick areas of body filler and an unsightlyinterior view in the trunk compartmentThe staff at Superior notified you when you called to check thestatus that you needed to come in to view the panels so we could discuss how to proceedWe hadalready ordered the panels ahead of time so that you could see the difference in the panels that wereon the car (completely different wheel lip edging than the fenders) and what would be a correct fit foryour vehicleThese panels could have been returned had you chosen to do soThe panels neededreplaced to bring the car back to factory styling and make a good quality repairJim did disclose a ballpark price to you at that time but as stated previously pricing a restoration repair exactly is nearlyimpossibleWhile we had a small view of what we were getting into on the quarter repair, we could notfully see the entire picture until the old panels were cut off.Once the quarters were removed the inner wheelhouse was exposed showing the excessive corrosion tothe panelWe had purchased the inner panels when the other panels were purchased anticipating thatmay be the caseOur guy welded them quickly so that the installation of the quarters could beginToinstall quarter panels the panel has to be cut and fit and resized and lined up many times before thewelding of the panel beginsThis is even more time consuming when the panel is a restoration partNotall of these panels are stamped to original equipment standards (as was the case with the prior panel onthe car) so the fitting of the panel is especially importantOnce we feel the panel fits correctly thewelding beginsOnce the welding is completed the welds are then ground are prepared for body glaze. This is a multi-step processLayer after layer of glaze is applied then sandedIt is done this way so thatthe panel is not filled with body filler and maintainsits integrityOn a regular insurance repair it takes atleast one week to replace one outer quarter panel skinOne this particular car we have installed twowith inner wheelhouses and I have had one employee working continuously on the Coronet with secondemployee helping from time to time.Currently the vehicle is in the priming stageThe first coat of primer has cured and been block sandedand a second layer appliedWe have begun sanding the second layerOnce block sanding is complete, ifwe feel the surface does not require a third application of primer, we will prep for colorWe are hopingto have the repairs completed no later October as discussed with you and our attorney onSeptember 18,On the same date Jim again stated a ballpark price of five thousand two hundreddollars plus taxHe extended a great discount to you because of the miscommunication and lengthyrepair.I apologize for the lack of communication and vow to correct the issue from this point forwardI alsoapologize again for the lengthy repair, but want to insure you get the best quality repair we can provide.I hope now that you have a better understanding of the actual repairs performed to your car up to datethat you are assured that we are working continuously on your vehicleA vehicle restoration is a bigundertaking and requires many hoursI know that many television shows depict that a restoration canbe done in a few weeks, but this isn't the case in a small business when you have four employeesWeare just as excited for you to see the finished productI promise once you see the end results you won'tbe disappointed. You will be given a detailed invoice when repairs are completed for your records along with copies ofthe parts invoices

I don't recommend these boys to do your job they didn't put the amount of asphalt on my job it looks bad started cracking months after pavingWe witnessed the guys drinking beer while on the job and drinking while driving dump trucksDON'T call Affordable paving and grading if you won't the job done right

I reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find the resolution is satisfactory to me. I do apologize that I got as frustrated as I did about this matterI have nothing against Jim or Superior personallyAnd I have no desire to injure their business reputationSo I will gladly report that so far they have addressed my concerns at this pointI did, however, feel left in the dark in this whole process and could have benefited from updates about the status, length of time and cost Hopefully the remainder of the business relationship will go smoothly and we can both part ways as satisfied parties

This letter is to explain our response and correspondence with the vehicle owner regarding complaint
ID #[redacted] on 04/23/2014 1:16:12 PM.
The vehicle owner referenced in the complaint brought his vehicle in for repair with damage to the
rear bumper, tailgate, and right bedside...

panel. Upon inspection of the vehicle it was noticed that
there had been. previous repairs by someone other than Superior Auto Body to the left bedside panel
of which had the clear coat coming off and visible sanding marks.
The vehicle owner was expecting the person who had hit his vehicle to come in and pay for his repairs
instead of putting in a claim to his insurance company, so we provided him with an estimate as he
requested. After 4 days of waiting for repair authorization we spoke to the vehicle owner, and he
authorized the claim for repairs with State Farm. He specified that he wanted the left bedside panel
included in the claim. State Farm sent out a field adjuster to inspect the vehicle, whom denied the
repairs ofthe left bedside panel. Only the damaged parts from the accident would be included in the
claim with State Farm, and those included the rear bumper, tailgate, and right bedside panel. We
offered to repair the left bedside panel for $450.00 extra since the insurance claim was not covering
it. The vehicle owner was not happy with that so we lowered the price to $350.00, but he still
declined the left bedside panel repair.
We completed the repairs authorized by State Farm and the vehicle owner. The vehicle owner was
happy with the area on the vehicle that we repaired, but did not like how the previous repairs done
by someone else looked now in comparison. Also, on the back bumper there are 3 separate step
pads out of which only 1 was authorized to be replaced by the insurance claim. After the repairs, one
pad was brand new and the other 2 appeared a little worn and sun bleached in comparison to the
new pad. The 2 older pads were not approved for replacement by State Farm because they had not
been damaged in the accident. The vehicle owner, not satisfied with how they all 3 looked, had the
older 2 pads replaced on his own accord. When we spoke to him regarding his dissatisfaction, he said
that he would be happy if we just refunded him what it cost to replace the 2 pads $120.00. The
vehicle owner understood that State Farm had denied the repair to the left bedside panel, and our
offer to repair it was for a very reasonable price that he had declined. We want to make sure that the
vehicle owner is happy and satisfied with his experience with Superior Auto Body, so we will pay the
$120.00 that it cost for the 2 step pads of which were not authorized by his insurance company.
Sincerely,

I am writing to notify Revdex.com that my complaint with Superior Auto Shop has been resolved. I would like to cancel/close the complaint and thank you for helping me resolve this unfair business practice in the San Diego area. Complaint ref #[redacted].

Great business. Everyone was very helpful. They provided a nice 4-wheel drive loaner - my job requires some off-road travel. They completed the work by the agreed date, and did a beautiful job. They replaced one headlight as part of the repairs, which required removing the bumper. Then they replaced the other headlight for free while they had the bumper removed. While my truck was in their yard a bicyclist crashed into the side of my newly repaired vehicle - they repaired the damage within two days for free. No hassles; always a smile. Reasonable price.
