Superior Chevrolet Reviews (4)

Review: On the evening of Thursday, December 12, my car became disabled while driving on Route 1 South in Princeton. I determined the cause to be a broken idler pulley, which caused the serpentine drive belt to come off. As a result, the car became disabled. I then had the car towed to Princeton Chevrolet.

The following morning, I called Princeton Chevrolet and spoke to the service advisor, [redacted]. I informed [redacted] the reason the car was towed to his facility. He told me they would be able to look at the car later that afternoon. Around 5 pm, he called me and told me that the idler pulley had, in fact, malfunctioned and caused the belt to come off. He also informed me that the single bolt securing the idler pulley had broken off and would have to be drilled out, which would require extra labor. Both the bolt and idler pulley would need to be replaced. A price of $389 was quoted, for both parts and labor.

I picked up the car on Saturday morning. Upon inspection, I noticed that the pulley had been replaced with a new one. However, I also noticed that the original bolt was reused, even though [redacted] had previously told me that the bolt was broken and needed to be drilled out. When I brought this to his attention, he told me that they were able to remove the bolt without much additional labor. He only revealed this to me after I pressed him for details. I feel as if I had not questioned him about this discrepancy, he would not have disclosed this information.

The Chilton Time Manual allots half an hour of labor to replace the pulley and an additional half hour to reinstall the belt. I feel that the $312.38 I was charged for the labor is unjustified, considering that the additional labor initially quoted was not needed. [redacted] did not agree with me on this issue and to avoid further confrontation, I decided to pursue this issue by first contacting Chevrolet Customer Service Relations with whom I filed a complaint.Desired Settlement: I would like a partial refund for additional work that was estimated, but not required.

Review: Note: This new complaint cross references with complaint number [redacted] with the Fort Worth Revdex.com office, which is now closed.Dear Revdex.com,Ive been trying to obtain a refund for nearly a year for an automobile extended service warranty contract purchased in November, 2009 through Route 1 Pontiac Buick GMC in Woodbridge, Virginia. The warranty covered a Pontiac Solstice vehicle that I sold in January 2013, and therefore, the warranty was never used. The third party warranty provider, Warrantech, as well as the dealer, Route 1 Pontiac Buick GMC, eventually agreed to refund me a $1,245.46, which is a significantly reduced portion of the total purchase price. The Revdex.com in Fort Worth was able to determine that a refund check was issued on October 7, 2013, from Princeton Chevrolet in Lawrenceville, NJ. I assume Princeton Chevrolet processes all the warranty refunds for the mid-Atlantic region GM dealerships. Since several months passed from the time I requested the refund until when an actual check was issued, I had already moved from the address I provided. As of December, 16, 2013, I have not received nor cashed the check issued by Princeton Chevrolet. I have tried contacting Sherri Smith, warranty administrator, from Princeton Chevrolet through multiple means (certified letters, e-mail, phone message), to update my address, so a new check can be issued, but I have not received any response. I just retired from 25 years in the military and Im currently unemployed, so I am very concerned about receiving this refund. If there is anything you can do to get Princeton Chevrolet to re-issue me the refund, I would greatly appreciate it.Desired Settlement: Re-issue refund check and send it to correct address via registered/certified mail:[redacted]

Review: I had stopped by Princeton Chevrolet to look at a new car. After a test drive the salesman and I went to his desk to discuss cost. He asked for information SS#,where I worked, salary etc. He left and spoke with his faineance person. I was brought to his desk where we discussed cost and payment. I had a payment in mind he could not get to where I wanted to be. The two of us went back to the salesman desk and he told the salesman to show me a less expensive car in a closer price range to my budget. I said no thanks I'll keep looking . When I left there was no discussion of a loan or any further business. Five days later I received a letter from a bank saying that my loan has been approved. There was no information who the dealer was and who took out this loan. I thought that someone had stolen my identity and took a loan out with my information. I called the bank, which was closed. I had to wait until the next day to contact the bank that sent me this approval letter. Next day I contacted the bank and they informed me the Princeton Chevrolet had requested a loan on my behalf to purchase a car. The bank would not take the loan off record. I would have to wait 60 day and if nothing is done then it would be dropped. When I contacted the dealer their response was that it's just a preapproval letter and no big deal. I feel that the dealer took advantage of having my personal information and applied for loan that I did not ask for.Desired Settlement: I want this loan removed from my credit report. With any damage to credit record. I do not want to wait the 60 days that the bank says I have to wait.

Review: Brought my car to the Chevy dealership and described the symptoms of my car that would lose power and shudder while on the road. The service manager [redacted]) told me spark plugs were fouled; then the coil and engine module had to be replaced. Otherwise they would just charge me of 2 diagnostics should I decide not to fix the car. I told the manager, the spark plugs are 3 days old so how can they be fouled. The Svc manager said I bought the "wrong brand name". Specifications of the plugs is key and not the "brand name". They were purchased from Advance Auto Supply so buying the wrong specs is highly unlikely. Functionality does not hinge on brand name unless parts being sold by Advance Auto are "bootleg" which I find hard to believe as I have buying parts from that supplier for the past 12 wears. Nonetheless, I went through the repairs and paid $929 inclusive of taxes despite catching the technician lying about the spark plugs and unnecessarily replacing other parts simply because the coil and module are part of the system. (One does not buy a new car simply because he is out of gas.) As I drove home the check engine light went ON again. I called the Dealership again soon as I got home to reschedule another appointment so they can revisit their work. The same service manager said the error code is now different and points to replacing the catalytic converter which would now cost $1100. And that this did not show up during the first 2 diagnostics. This is clearly a "trial & error" situation which is not acceptable considering it is a Chevy Dealership. If this is the case, then bringing the car to [redacted] or [redacted] would've suffice. Given dealerships' "expertise" in Chevy vehicles, they should be able to diagnose the problem accurately with completeness. According to [redacted], the technician is totally dependent on the diagnostics machine which means, he has no analytical skills and does not know his Chevy vehicles as he should. He should not string the Client along for more repairs.Desired Settlement: Then I woman employee had the nerve to tell me that I was negligent of not bringing the car in after 60,000 miles for a comprehensive checkup. FYI, this car was purchase from [redacted] Chevrolet Dealership at 51,692 miles. So after about 8,000 miles, an Owner should have the car re-inspected?!? Maybe an oil change, NOT a comprehensive inspection!Finish the job without additional charges. The check engine light must not be present.
