Obviously this is one of those in homeowners who can't be made happy by anything you do for themThere are reasons why I have an A+ rating w/the Revdex.comThe contract states that no cancelation can be made after hours from the date of the contract. If you read the back of any VA Fence Contract, it clearly states that the contractor cannot be held responsible for any unavoidable delays and gives details as to suchHe obviously didn't read the back of the contractAll efforts were made to start the fence on timeI think starting the fence one day after the day I told him I would start doesn't justify canceling or calling the local policeOur local police has better things to do and also have nothing to do with enforcing service contractsMany of my customers are local police officers. His loss!! Well, this experience did not go how I expected it should go when contracting a fence for my yardFirstly we contacted him to install a fence that would enclose the entirety of my propertyHe brought over pamphlets on the types of vinyl fence he offers which he orders from a separate companyWe picked a fence with slats that had inch gaps so our little dog won't be able to put his head through and escapeHe assured us that our dog won't be able to escape, gave us a week estimate time frame for install, and took our deposit to order the fence partsIn weeks we tried contacting him leaving a voicemail (because he never answers his phone, I think he screens his calls) he EMAILED back that the fence was not ready yetLeft more voicemails and emailed him for the next weeks to get status updates because he did not keep us informed throughout the process, nor answered his phoneFinally we had a tentative day for install, which BTW was forecasted for afternoon rain I waited all day and he finally showed up about an hour before it started to pour downHe didn't knock on the door to let me know he was here, just went to the back and started laying all the fence parts out......then just leftNo "I'll be back tomorrow" or any kind of explanation on why he was so lateAnyway, emailed him again and he replied he would be back on Saturday to finish the workShowed up Saturday to finish the fenceAgain, just went out back and started working without a helloAfter fence was installed he left without putting on the gateSaid the concrete had to set before the gate was put inOk, understandableUpon further inspection of the fence I realized it wasn't installed according to what we discussed or was plannedHe installed the fence a full foot short of the back boundary of my yardHis measurements were definitely offThe vinyl fence isn't the best quality as wellThe slats pop on at the bottom with the top fixed on by glue instead of being insetted to the horizontal slatsI've had to pop a few back in already. He showed up a couple days later when we were not home and installed the gate which we noticed after we got homeWe realized the gate was not wide enough to close the gap properly and was hanging at the fullest extension of the boltThen I got an email from him saying he would be in the neighborhood the next day, told me to put a check for the balance in my mailbox and he would swing by and pick it upWhen I asked about why the fence was short of my property line or what was up with the gate he would not commentEmail silenceAnd guess what, my dog can get through the fence by the posts because the gap was larger than inches! I know this because he decided to go out on a field trip exploring the neighborhood! I DO NOT recommend Superior Fence......unreliable, material does not meet expectations, communication is seriously lacking, and end product was not exactly what was contracted and plannedMy opinion is he is inexperienced as a fence contractor without any sort of people skills I suggest if you are looking for a fence contractor pass this one up and look around for someone elseI made the mistake of working with him because he was recommended by the builder's sales personI should have listened to my gut and looked for someone elsestars instead of because there IS a fence installed and I'm hoping I can fix it to the standards I need it at, which of course is going to cost more money than the almost grand I already dropped on it

Very unprofessional
My wife and I moved into a new construction this week. We used Superior Fence based on the builder’s recommendation. We established an installation date with the company which they committed they could meet. They did not show up at the committed installation date. We contacted them when they didn't show up, and the owner blamed us because he had the wrong date in his planner. He committed to come the next day. He did not show up then either. Due to the delay, we had to cancel our vacation plans. We did not hear from them for three days. Then we came home after the fourth day, and the posts for the fence were up. Unfortunately the posts were set inside of our irrigation system, so we will only be watering the fence based on the placement. We received no communication that they were coming to install the posts. When we called to ask about the posts being placed inside of our irrigation system we were basically told it was our problem, and that they placed the posts where the posts should be. They told us we need to work with the builder to fix the irrigation system. We’ve had to stop the work on the fence to try to get a resolution to the irrigation issue.
Throughout the process the owner of the company has not been apologetic to the fact that my wife and I have missed our vacation or that he has created an additional burden for us because we have to get our irrigation system changed. He has had an accusatory demeanor as if the issues have been our fault.
I am communicating with rest of our neighbors who are still moving in to steer clear of this company. I would not advise anyone else work with them after the experience we have had.

All efforts were made to start the fence on time. I think starting the fence one day after the day I told him I would start doesn't justify canceling or calling the local police. We chose Superior Fence Company based on a recommendation from a fence supplier, price and timing. Of 2 fence companies quoting, Superior was 25% less expensive. We were moving and needed the fence built on short notice so we could move dogs from one fenced back yard to the other without interruption. Superior did everything on time save one day late on the start due to [redacted]. The fence quality was above standard and we are pleased with the experience.

The father-in-law who was former owner of Superior Fence Co did a fence for us 3 years ago which is already falling apart. New owner the son-in-law did iron gates for us which were great. We then asked him to give us a bid to redo the wood fencing which is falling apart. We decided on the fence, pricing and all was to go forward. After a month of exchanging phone calls (us doing the calling with little response from Superior Fence Co) a date was scheduled. Three days prior for the work to begin, we called to confirm. After two more follow-up phone calls we receive an e-mail saying it would be best if we had a contractor do the fencing. Why did they not let us know this when they came out for the bid and wait until the last minute to let us know. Personally we feel they had other larger jobs and could not be bothered doing our smaller job. Very poor business practice on all levels.

The purchase date was 2/27/16. The problem occurred on 3/18/16. This is well within the 2-3 week window. I am always in a hurry to collect homeowners deposits so that I can get them on my schedule to have their fence completed within a stated timeframe.
I have consulted with my attorney and have concluded that I am well within my rights to keep the deposit due to the fact that I had  a trailer full of posts and concrete ready to takedown his existing fence and install his posts that weekend. Again, well within the 2-3 week start window.
Not to mention that each day it rains in a given window of time, a day is added to that window. Common sense dictates this.
I don't "whine" about anything. I was simply making a factual statement. What I do is simply adhere to each letter of my contracts, build a high quality fence and move on to the next.
This matter is closed to me and want no further correspondence referring to this matter.

No "I'll be back tomorrow" or any kind of explanation on why he was so late. Anyway, emailed him again and he replied he would be back on Saturday to finish the work. Showed up Saturday to finish the fence. Again, just went out back and started working without a hello. After fence was installed he left without putting on the gate. Said the concrete had to set before the gate was put in. Ok, understandable. Upon further inspection of the fence I realized it wasn't installed according to what we discussed or was planned. He installed the fence a full foot short of the back boundary of my yard. His measurements were definitely off. The vinyl fence isn't the best quality as well. The slats pop on at the bottom with the top fixed on by glue instead of being insetted to the horizontal slats. I've had to pop a few back in already. He showed up a couple days later when we were not home and installed the gate which we noticed after we got home. We realized the gate was not wide enough to close the gap properly and was hanging at the fullest extension of the bolt. Then I got an email from him saying he would be in the neighborhood the next day, told me to put a check for the balance in my mailbox and he would swing by and pick it up. Review: This man definitely has communication problems. I'll try to keep my review short. Bottom line is DO NOT EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY.

We obtained three estimates for replacing our existing fence. Our last estimate was with Superior. They had installed the original fence some 12 years ago.

He gave us a good estimate and we elected to go with him. We called him within an hour of getting the estimate. He told us the job would be done within a 2-3 week window. He was in a very big hurry to get our deposit on that Saturday evening, so we put it in the mail box as he requested.

On March 11th he called and said the fence would be started on the 18th and would be completed on the 21st. On the 18th, my wife sent me text several times saying that he had not shown up. I called 3 times and left messages but never heard from him. The last message I left I expressed my concern about him not showing up, not returning my calls and him having our deposit.

Upon arriving home Friday evening, I called him from my wife's phone and he answered right away. I was furious and hung up. After fuming all night and discussing the matter with my wife, I called him on Saturday morning and had to leave a message. The message was we decided to cancel the job and wanted our deposit back. I explained that we made this decision because of his lack of communication.

Being concerned about my deposit, I called the county sheriff's office to see what I could do to insure I got my deposit back. The officer took my information and said he would get back to me.He called me back and said he left a message and informed me of my legal path.

Within an hour, I received a text from the owner stating he put my deposit in the mail. He went on to whine about "the first time in 20 years of getting a call from the local police about a homeowner wanting their deposit back because a contractor is a day late starting a job".

I simply replied this could have been avoided with communication.Desired Settlement: I would like my refund in a prompt and timely matter.
